During the morning conversation, Maina and King'ang'i discussed whether Kenyan men still propose to their wives before marriage.
This was prompted by a viral story about a man in Gongoni, Tana River proposing to his wife-to-be by placing an engagement ring in her food, which almost turned into a tragedy when she swallowed the engagement ring and was rushed to the hospital.
Maina wished the lady a speedy recovery and urged men to propose to their loved ones before tying the knot.
He also wondered what ladies are told by their partners before fully committing themselves to marriage.
"Ladies, what did he tell you to commit to him? Do Kenyan men still propose?" Maina asked.
On the other hand, Mwalimu King'ang'i stated that there was no formula for making someone your wife as long as she has accepted to be with you there is no need for a proposal.
"Hii kitu haina formula. Inaanzanga na mimba!" Mwalimu King'ang'i said.
In response, Kenyans called in to air out their opinions. Some are below;
Caller: Sasa Maina let me ask you she is just a girl ametumwa na Mungu si unamchukua unamweka kwako hii mambo ya kupiga magoti hapana.
Maina Kageni: Are you married ? You’ve never asked your wife to marry you?
Caller: I asked her but sikupiga magoti.
Maina Kageni: What did you ask her?
Caller: Hey, can you be my wife . Wewe tu unakuwa gentle man umuulize but hakuna kupiga magoti.
Another caller said that he would never propose because men are left in a state of humiliation if the woman rejects your proposal.
Caller 2: With the amount of humiliation men go through uku nje in the name of proposing,ata nilipwe siwezi jikute.
