During the morning conversation, Maina and King'ang'i discussed whether the thousand-year-old celibacy rule for Catholic priests should be revised.

The recent remarks made by Pope Francis prompted this discussion as he believes that the catholic priesthood celibacy principle should be reconsidered.

According to Maina, celibacy is a pillar of faith for catholic priests and a known sacrifice that comes with wanting to be a member of the Catholic clergy.

"Isn’t it a pillar of the faith? That’s a sacrifice you make," Maina said.

On the other hand,  Mwalimu King'ang'i stated that the Pope does not believe the rule will benefit the church in recruiting more members into the catholic clergy.

He went on to say that many priests are currently suffering from temptation.

"He does not think making people celibate would make people join the priesthood. Huwezi shinda  hapa temptations zimekuwa mingi. Mnaexpect father afanye nini all these years watu waoe," Mwalimu King'ang'i said.

Maina questioned whether it would serve any purpose for the catholic church.

"Does it serve any purpose?" Maina asked.

Many callers supported the Pope's remarks, recounting their interactions with priests who engage in unholy acts such as drinking alcohol and practicing sexual deeds, that are not sanctioned by the church.

Some of the comments are below;

Caller 1: Achana na Catholics, things have changed for humans . It’s an open secret.

Caller 2: The thing about celibacy should be reviewed. I’m supporting the Pope . I had a friend and he used to be on the seminary but he had so much love for women . He was called by his seniors and told to make a choice. Now he’s married with 3 kids . This thing about celibacy acha ikuwe choice.

Caller 3: Ukisoma katika Bibilia, inatuambia mtu akifanya kazi ya mungu ni vizuri aweze kuoa na awe na mke mmoja kwa kitabu cha 1Timothy verse 1 to 2 . Kama Pope amesema we can revisit it ni vizuri.

Caller 4: Am telling you those seminarians are drunkards and the biggest womanizers. My uncle is apart of the seminary , there is a time I took his phone am telling you the kind of messages I saw, I was shocked. Haina haja wakae kwa hizi convents pretending their holy.
