Renowned Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, on Saturday morning joked about deleting her TikTok account.

This came after a video mocking her progress was circulated on the social media platform, which she has been using to interact with her fans.

The singer took to her Instagram page to make the announcement, claiming she can't continue.

"I'm exhausted, was it necessary to bring up my dark past? I have officially left TikTok, I've deleted my account, I can't go on," Akothee wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis, indicating she was joking about leaving.

She also shared the video that talked about her being black and broke in the past.

"Esther was once black and broke. But when Esther sees money, Establish..." the presenter in the video was heard saying.

However, our investigation has revealed that the 43-year-old singer is still active on social media as of the time of this news publication.

In the past, Akothee shared her views on TikTok, where she explained her initial reluctance to join the platform due to its tendency for time-consuming noise and conflicts.

In her journey on the social media platform, she claimed to have lost three accounts with over 100k followers each due to challenges in managing the platform.

The singer said despite these challenges, her manager Nelly Oaks encouraged her to embrace TikTok because of her large following on the platform.

She claimed that both her and her manager's accounts were reported and eventually suspended, attributing these actions to jealousy and lack of self-confidence.

"I don't know if I was supposed to seek permission to join my life and my phone with my fans or? Is this a big joke?

Who owns this platform? Or do people have shares so we know how many to buy?" Akothee said some time ago.

She added, "Jealousy can't be controlled, people sent me videos warning me not to join TikTok and to stick to Facebook and Instagram.

For your information, my account and Nelly Oaks' account were reported and suspended. That's how far jealousy and lack of confidence can go."
