Crime Scene.

Cops are looking for a man who fled after murdering his wife and daughter in Kiambogo area of Gilgil after a fight over family property.

The man reportedly first killed his sleeping wife using a blunt object before attacking their two-year-old daughter using a sharp knife.

Emotions ran high among relatives and friends as police moved in to collect the bodies on Wednesday and launch a manhunt for the suspect.

Incidentally, the suspect had on three occasions tried to commit suicide according to neighbours.

According to a neighbour Michael Kamau, the couple had been having differences over the man's decision to sell their properties including their residential plot.

He said this led to the fight which saw the woman killed and the  the daughter’s head and stomach slashed.

“In the last couple of months the man's behaviour was off, he even tried to commit suicide,” he said.

Kamau said their three other children escaped the murder, adding that the suspect was still on the loose following the beastly act.

Nakuru County Police commander Peter Mwanzo said they had launched a manhunt for the suspect.

While calling on couples to resolve their difference amicably, Mwanzo noted that the cause of the attack was over a decision by the suspect to sell some of the family’s property.

“We had a beastly incident on Wednesday morning when a man went berserk killing his wife and two-year-old daughter before fleeing,” he said.

Meanwhile, four people escaped death narrowly after two trucks were involved in a head-on-collision before bursting into flames along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.

During the accident near Governors Camp, the two vehicles were extensively damaged while the two drivers and the conductor escaped with minor injuries.

According to Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru, one of the trailers heading to Mai Mahiu from Naivasha was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when it rammed into another one.

“The occupants managed to escape with minor injuries but the two trailers were extensively damaged before the fire was put off by fire fighters from Nakuru county government,” he said.
