Kenyan celebrity couple, singer Guardian Angel and Esther Musila, have revealed that both lost several friends after they began dating almost four years ago.
Speaking on the 'Love Wins' show on Esther Musila's YouTube channel, the two said that some of their friends were not pleased with their relationship and distanced themselves.
However, they noted that they have no regrets about the friendships that ended at that time.
"I was thinking about the people we lost, and I realized that in life, sometimes we carry the burden of others, and when they leave our lives, things become easier," Guardian Angel told his wife.
He added, "For me, it's been a smooth journey without those people I lost. Maybe at the time, I would have thought, man, now if these guys leave... But I don't regret losing the friends I lost. I think I lost them for a good reason."
Ms. Musila also noted that she lost many friends after the step they took four years ago.
The mother of three grown children pointed out that certain friendships are not essential, especially when some friends fail to show support.
"As you grow, and when you realize the kind of person you want to be, it is important to let go of people who don't support you. People who think they should be there, and have proven that they don’t have to be there. Sometimes you force relationships that don’t need to be there.
I can say I haven't traveled in such light in my life for a long time. Traveling light is very important because you focus more on what is important to you than being in other people's lives where you make no impact. I don’t regret it; I think having one person is good, you are enough. There is a lot we do that takes up most of our time," Ms. Musila told her husband.
Guardian Angel and Esther Musila have been together for the past four years. The couple officially got married in January 2022, after nearly two years of dating.
