A wave of sadness and grief engulfed the town of Kitengela in Kajiado County after a 58-year-old man brutally murdered his daughter and then took his own life in what was described as a love dispute within the marriage.

According to sources, the shocking incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.

The father killed his 16-year-old daughter, who had come to visit him from her mother's place where they had separated a few months ago due to conflicts in their marriage.

According to neighbors who spoke to Naton.africa, they heard cries and screams for help coming from the house.

They said they heard commotion that did not last long before silence fell, and later they discovered that the father had killed his daughter and also committed suicide.

"We heard noises that didn't last long before silence fell; it's so sad that we couldn't help the girl," one neighbor was quoted by the magazine.

Police arrived and took the bodies while an investigation was launched.

They said the girl's body was found with stab wounds on the back and chest while her father was also found with stab wounds in the abdomen.

The old man was said to have left a letter explaining the reasons for committing the atrocities, saying he wanted to teach his wife a lesson.

"I told you that you are playing with someone you don't know, you only see me. Now, that's the benefit you wanted from me, I am the one you scorned. I am going to rest; you stay with the wound of life, that's the benefit for me for the years you wasted," part of the letter was quoted by Nation.africa.
