A 24-year-old youth was found hanging, his body dangling from the roof of a rented house after reportedly losing a significant amount of money in a lottery game.

According to NTV Kenya, the youth is said to have made the difficult decision after losing up to 120,000 shillings in the popular Aviator gambling game.

Before his death, the young man named Kipkorir was employed to run an M-Pesa shop in the town of Kericho.

It is reported that he used business money to try his luck and lost his stake in all the games.

Speaking to NTV over the phone, the deceased's nephew said the deceased asked his friend to take care of the shop as he went to attend to various activities in town and would return soon.

"We tried several times to contact him, but he was not answering his phone," his nephew said.

According to the police report, he did not leave any message before taking his own life.

The body was removed and taken to the mortuary of Siloam Hospital awaiting autopsy examination.
