Nairobi County Government has released a list of flood hot spots where residents must vacate for safety reasons.

In the Kasarani sub-county, residents of Gachieko, Gituamba, Athi (lower Athi) and Brookshine in Ruai have been asked to leave their residences.

Those living in Budalangi in clay, Mwengenye in Njiru, Infinity in Kasarani and Mwisho wa Lami in Mwiki should also vacate.

In the Mathare sub-county, those living in Mathare North Area 1, area 2, Mathare North primary, Utalii 4A, Babadogo Laundry, Kasabuni, Gumba Bridge and  Lucky Summer along Ruaka River are required to vacate.

In the Kibra sub-county, residents of Gatwekera, Sokomoko,  Gatwekera kwa mwangi, Gatwekera Shofco, Gatwekera Riverside,  Maranatha Kwa Muganda, Kianda Riverside Holy Unity and  Soweto West Kwa Foot Bridge in Sarangombe ward have been asked to leave the areas.

In Makina, residents of Vuma Estate have been told to vacate.

Most affected areas in Kibra include the Raila informal settlement with over 200 people living along the Ngong River, the Canaan estate in Highrise and the Undugu area in Highrise.

In Makadara, the Cereal board village, Gakuyo area near Ngong River, Jamaica, and Paradise areas are affected.

All areas in Viwandani subcounty along Ngong River, as well as flooding at Magunga court and Buruburu phase III.

In the Roysambu subcounty, Zimmerman ward, Sidian and Njathaini areas are affected and in Kahawa ward –Kongo, Budalangi, Bosnia, and Giagishiri areas are hot spots. In Githurai ward, Rurie area has been marked as a hot spot.

In Kamukunji subcounty, Eastleigh South ward has Kiambiu estate, Vihiga, Kasovo, Mabatini, Sewage, Magunda, Motherland and Mlolongo as hot spots.

Kanuku and Kinyago have also been declared hot spots in California Ward, while in Pumwani Ward Traders along the river in Gikomba have been cautioned as high risk areas.

In Embakasi North, Two rivers in Dandora area 3, Block G in Dandora area 3, Gitare Marigu in Dandora area and Kanduma in Dandora area 1 have been marked.

In the Westlands subcounty, Kangemi ward/Mountainview ward households along Waititi River have been cautioned, while in Karura Ward's Githogoro near Astrol and Kitusuru Ward households along Kibagare Dam have also been warned.

In Embakasi South's Mkuru kwa Reuben, Feed the Children zone, Riverside zone, Gatoto zone, Kariobangi zone and  Cosovo zone are affected.

The County government said over five schools in this area are also affected.

Huruma, Umoja 3 at Moulem, Choka, Utawala at Mihango and Eastern Bypass next to Gravity Park have also been marked as hot spots.
