On April 23rd, the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) announced a ban on the use of plastic bags to collect and dispose of garbage.

In a notice dated April 8, Nema said Kenyans have 90 days to stop using plastic bags from the date of the notice.

Today on the Morning conversation, Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King'ang'i weighed on this very topic asking Kenyans how they feel about it.

They went on to ask people if they had a replacement for the banned plastic bags.

This is what some fellas said,

@YoungAmoh1 ·Good mooooooorning Maina, unless NEMA comes up with a solution themselves like designing larger bins and install them everywhere in the city.

@BabaAfrica7·Good Morning Nema should also understand that most users of this plastic bags are our hospital...yet they haven't given us an alternative....

@berns3oy·Which politician had promised to give all Nairobi households a waste basket?

@Tosh_tosh254Watupatie body bags sasa tutumie juu what is this

@JobKamandao·The problem with this government is making hasty decisions that don’t make sense, even in Rwanda and Europe waste is collected in plastic bags. They should provide solutions not frustrating people

@ZephyrJavah·Back to dirty streetsMaina the problem with Nairobi drainage starts with traders dumping all waste along drainages instead of using bins. Go around the city and estates and see how clogged they have made the lines and when it rains it becomes a problem for water to move,

@SakajaJohnsonIts norms to Kenyan gvnt burn things/ even blocks road without alternative. hii government.
