Well-known Radio Stars Mwalimu King'ang'i and Maina Kageni on Classic 105, asked their listeners why it is hard for Kenyans to give straight compliments and have to spice it up with an insult.

In an ongoing conversation between Mwalimu King'ang'i and Maina Kageni, Mwalimu wondered why saying, "Nimekuwa nikijiuliza as Kenyans why do we just give a bantered complement?'' he asked.

Maina laughing answered him, "Banter ati blanter and you are the teacher," he laughed.

"You are one of those people with those problems," Mwalimu stated.

"What did I do?" Maina asked.

"Mtu anakupatia idea kali unajibu eneyewe umefikiria kama watu wakumi, you cannot say you are funny." Mwalimu stated.

Mwalimu then added," We cannot complement each other, umekuwa mrembo, umeiva sasa naoana ukioelewa. We cannot give a straight compliment if you are good, you are good kama ukona pesa, na hizo pesa uliiba wapi?"

Before adding, "Kwani hawezi fanya bidii apate pesa. You know we do not know how to complement others as Kenyans."

Maina then responded by saying, "But we complement each other in our way."

"Negatively," was Mwalimu's quick response.

"How is it negative ni kama wewe sahi si ukona dooh, unakula kula vizuri," Maina stated.

"Mtu akinona unakula pesa ya government, ukikonda unatuacha." Mwalimu stated.

"There is no win-win situation," Maina said.

Mwalimu King'ang'i concluded by saying," Hakuna win situation, huwezi  kuwa unaendelea vizuri tuh hivyo , kama huyu ameingia wash wash kwani hiyo machine ya dobby iko wapi hadi sisi tuingie."
