Nairobi Governor has promised to sponsor the secondary and University education of a struggling Busia student who interrupted his speech at a funeral to air out his frustrations.

Sakaja made it public that he pay school fees for one Carlos Baraza who sat for the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and scored 354 marks.

The young Baraza approached the governor crying over the lack of schools to join form one come January 30th, 2023.

"Carlos Baraza is a blessed and brave young man. Carlos came up to me crying in the middle of my condolence message at Mzee Magoba’s funeral in Busia.

He got 354 in KCPE but had no hope due to the lack of fees. I will sponsor him for the entire 4 years of High School and University," the Governor narrated.

Governor Sakaja went on to shower Carlos with praises for his bravery saying it will take him far in life.

“Carlos will go far in life. I will sponsor him for the entire four years of high school and university thereafter," Sakaja added.

Just the other day, Kakamega Senator Boni Khawale also offered to pay schools for a top KCPE candidate who was harvesting sand to pay his own fees.

He said the boy scored 352 marks in this year's KCPE exams whose results were released on Wednesday.

"Tough boy. No human is limited. Found this boy Augustine Nangabo at Shielelwa in Shinyalu Constituency harvesting sand to raise money for Form one admission. He scored 352. Took up the responsibility to sponsor him," Khalwale said in a social media post.

Secondary school education is free but parents have to foot boarding costs.
