Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga is set to accompany three activists who have been in hiding due to fears of abductions to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters on Monday.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mutunga announced that the activists—Boniface Mwangi, Hanifa Adan, and Hussein Khalid, Executive Director of Haki Africa—will appear at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road at 11 am.

"Tomorrow at 11 am I shall accompany Hanifa Adan, Hussein Khalid, and Boniface Mwangi to DCI_Kenya HQs on Kiambu Road. Mwangi was almost abducted outside the City Mortuary on Friday contrary to Art. 238(2)(b) of the Constitution. Join us in solidarity," he posted on X.

This action follows a series of abductions targeting individuals vocal against the Finance Bill, 2024.

Notably, blogger Billy Simani and Dr. Austin Omondi alias Japrado were among those detained and subsequently released.

On Sunday night, Shad Khalif was also reportedly abducted from Sanasana in South B, Nairobi, with his current whereabouts unknown.

Witnesses observed a black double-cab pickup and a white Toyota Prado trailing the social media figure before he was forcibly taken.

Several other youths who played prominent roles in the protests have sought refuge in hiding, citing unknown individuals trailing them.

During the initial 'Occupy Parliament' protests last Tuesday, Boniface Mwangi and two other demonstrators spent a night in police custody.

They were released the following Wednesday after the Milimani court ruled it lacked jurisdiction to hear their case.
