CS Ababu pays tribute to Njambi 'Jahmby' Koikai

Youth Affairs, Sport, and Creative Economy CS Ababu Namwamba on Tuesday joined family, friends, and creatives to mourn the passing of celebrated reggae DJ Njambi (Jahmby) Koikai, also known as Fyah Mummah.

Ababu eulogized Njambi as not only a cherished figure in the entertainment industry but also as a passionate human rights activist.

"Njambi was a beacon of hope and equity, tirelessly advocating for fairness in our society. Her dedication to justice and equity is a passion we shared," said Ababu.

The CS was addressing a gathering at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi in honor of Njambi.

The prominent Kenyan reggae MC and radio host succumbed to a long battle with endometriosis on June 4, 2024, while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Njambi Koikai's career in entertainment spanned over two decades, during which she became a beloved figure in Kenya's reggae scene.

As a reggae emcee and founder of Street Empire Entertainment, she captivated audiences with her vibrant personality and deep love for the genre.

Her influence extended beyond music, as she used her platform to advocate for the rights and voices of marginalized communities, making her a significant cultural icon.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Njambi's battle with endometriosis became a powerful part of her legacy.

She bravely shared her journey, raising awareness and advocating for women's health issues.

The wake saw a congregation of creatives, colleagues, and fans who came to celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many lives.

Tributes poured in, with many recalling her vibrant spirit, infectious energy, and commitment to making a difference.

Njambi will be laid to rest on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Lang'ata Cemetery, Nairobi.
