Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East, known as PK Salasya, recently spoke about his aspirations while at university.

The jovial MP revealed that one of his greatest desires was to become a preacher.

He disclosed this while delivering a public speech at the Pwani University in Kilifi County, an event attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Mr. Salasya, a graduate of Egerton University, recounted an incident from his time at university in 2011.

"When I joined Egerton University in 2011, a lecturer spent an hour talking to first-year students about their aspirations. When it was my turn, I said I wanted to be a pastor or a leader. Everyone burst into laughter," Salasya said with a chuckle.

Salasya, a first-term MP elected in 2022 under the Democratic Action Party - Kenya (DAP-K), emphasised his determination to pursue his political ambitions despite considering preaching as a career initially.

"After university, I taught at a college, earning a meager salary of 10,000 shillings per month. At times, when things were going well, I could earn 13,000 shillings," he said.

But his passion remained in politics.

"In 2022, I decided to try politics, and I succeeded in running for the position of MP," Salasya said, urging students at Pwani University to pursue their dreams and aspirations wholeheartedly.

The MP is an online user who shares his humor on social media platforms.
