A man was taken into custody following the tragic death of his seven-year-old daughter during a disciplinary incident at their residence in Embakasi, Nairobi.

The girl, reportedly fleeing from her father's disciplinary actions for undisclosed reasons, collided with a table, resulting in fatal injuries on Tuesday.

In an attempt to seek help, the man rushed her to a nearby clinic, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The grieving father asserted to the police that he had no intention of causing his daughter's death.

The authorities observed visible injuries on the neck, hands, and a swollen forehead, leading to the man's detention while the body was sent to the mortuary for an autopsy.

This incident underscores the importance of exercising caution and restraint in parental discipline. In a separate tragedy, an eight-month-old baby suffocated while sleeping outside their Enzui residence in Mwingi, Kitui county.

The mother, engaged in farm chores, left the infant and their four-year-old sibling on a mattress under a shade.

Upon returning an hour later, she discovered the baby had suffocated under a blanket.

Despite calling for assistance, the child could not be revived, and the body was taken to a local mortuary for autopsy and investigation.

Additionally, in Mbale, Busia county, authorities are probing the death of an unidentified middle-aged man found on the roadside with fresh injuries on the right lower limb and swollen hands.

Suspected foul play led to the assumption that the man was killed elsewhere, and his body was dumped at the scene.

The body awaits autopsy at Busia County Referral Hospital, with no arrests made as of the Monday incident.
