Provide children with education content that resonates with them- Njugush advises

Njugush restated the fundamental need to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s world

Comedian Njugush was sharing about the role of entertainment in education last week.

The comedian was joined by Kiss FM presenter Kwambox, singer Wahu, Eugene Mbugua, and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry who met at the second edition of BIC's education round table, EduTalk.

The event was held in commemoration of Global Education Week, an annual event that aims to raise awareness on the importance of education in creating a sustainable and equitable world.

Kwambox, known for leadership in empowering Kenyan youth, stated the responsibility that media and influential personalities in society have to mentor and guide the youth, who continue to seek validation and guidance from public voices, and those outside of their day-to-day environments.

Wahu Kagwi on the other hand stressed the fundamental role that parents and guardians in the education of the youth.

“Kids live an ‘on demand’ life, they want their information and answers now. We need to catch up with them, and adapt to their methods of learning, not necessarily what we grew up with," she said.

Njugush restated the fundamental need to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s world. In his opinion, a combination of new and old media methodology is crucial to provide children with the relevant education content that would resonate with them.”

Eugene Mbugua, Founder and CEO of D&R Studios, also stressed that most of the focus of productions stems from a commercial nature. He is optimistic about the potential impact on education that could result from collective efforts of those in the media space.

Other panelists were Kaitan Mbuya; Ubongo International Country Manager and Ogova Ondego, Managing Trustee at Lola Kenya Screen.
