President William Ruto has finally broken his silence on the Finland and Canada scholarship that has rocked Uasin Gishu County and its officials.

Speaking in Eldoret, the Head of State, said that those involved in the scandal should be ready to face the full force of the law.

Ruto made it clear that those at the center of the scandal should be prepared to carry their own cross.

"It's embarrassing for anyone to steal money meant for the education of young people in Uasin Gishu," he said.

“Mambo ya Finland najua tuko na matatizo, kuna wazazi wametoa pesa na pesa yao haijulikani iko wapi,"

"Kama kuna mtu alikula hiyo pesa ajipange kulipa mapema ama ataingia taabani," President Ruto said.

The president added;

"Hakuna maneno ya kubembelezana, pesa ya ngombe ya mtu ama aliuza shamba lazima arudishiwe pesa yake

"Hapo mbele wakati uchaguzi utakuwa umekamilika tutaweza kusaidia wale watoto ambao wameshikwa kwa hii maneno, wapate scholarship hapa ndio tuweze kuendelea mbele,"

While the government will intervene to help individuals who have been affected, those who are found to be guilty won't get off the hook, according to Ruto.

Following the discovery that millions of shillings had vanished from the scholarship bank account for the Uasin Gishu Overseas Education Trust in recent weeks, over 200 parents recorded statements to the DCI in Eldoret.

Over 200 students are said to have traveled to Finland between May 2021 and December 2022 to enroll in a variety of courses at various institutions and colleges, contributing a total of Ksh. 837,855,889 to the account.
