Phelix Odiwour aka Jalang'o, a Lang'ata MP who is scheduled to face off with the ODM party discipline committee, has begged President William Ruto to intervene on his behalf.

As he testifies before the committee, Jalang'o said that his biggest crime is that he is close to the President.

He spoke on Saturday at Interior PS Raymond Omollo's welcome-home celebration in Homa Bay County.

"Next week, I am going to appear before my party, ODM, because I have been summoned before the disciplinary committee. I have looked at all the charges I am being accused of being a friend to Ruto," he said.

"I know you are a friend to Baba (Raila Odinga) and you guys talk. Please talk to him because looking at others who are facing similar charges are the likes of Ojienda, who happens to be a lawyer. Jamani wasinimalize kama uko."

Additionally, he claimed that the Luo people were certain they would triumph in the general election on August 9 under Raila Odinga's leadership but were shocked when Ruto won.

"If the election was an examination, we had a marking scheme. All we were to do was to transfer the answers. And things were going well till the last minute. We don't know how you managed to win," he told Ruto.

Jalang'o is one of nine ODM members of parliament who have been dubbed rebels for getting close to Ruto.

Others include Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), and Paul Abuor (Rongo).

The ODM is threatening to expel the renegade MPs when they go before the disciplinary committee on Wednesday of the next week.
