East Mumias Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has admitted for the first time that the language of the colonialists - English gives him a great challenge in expressing himself.

The member of parliament who was visiting day schools in his constituency in Kakamega county uploaded a series of videos being cheered on by students in those schools.

He said that he would not like day school students to be like him who has trouble expressing himself in the English language because when he was a student, they were not told the importance of learning to speak or communicate in that language.

As a result, Salasya ordered all-day schools to embrace communication in the King's English in his constituency.

"Today I visit the future voters in my constituency... I have ordered that the day schools in my constituency will be speaking English.

They shouldn't be like me, 'It's not my mouth'. I struggle a little because I didn't speak English," Salasya said.

The Member of Parliament, who was elected for the first time in last year's general election, also found himself to be the favourite for many, both young and old.

"Peter Salasya is a social animal loved by everyone...you can't hate me. ..and I love everyone, just a very principled person when dealing with serious issues of the nation," he boasted.

Last year after taking the oath in parliament and officially starting the duties of serving his constituents, Salasya hit the headlines when he struggled to express himself fluently in English while presenting his first motion as a member of parliament.

In the first session, the deputy speaker Gladys Shollei was leading but Salasya referred to her as 'Mr. Speaker' despite being corrected many times to refer to her as 'Madam Speaker'.
