Bomet Woman representative Linet Chepkorir alias Toto has landed in hot soup after being taken to court.
The young legislator has been sued by two Bomet residents over allegations of employing her relatives in her office.
The two Collins Barno and Stanley Kiprotich Bii filed a suit at the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nairobi.
The two argue that Toto failed to adhere to minimum requirements of transparency, fair competition, merit, and integrity while employing her office staff.
Toto has been accused of recruiting 5 relatives into her office out of the 15 workers currently working for her.
They further say that her relatives are collectively consuming Sh612,000 of the Sh811,000 earmarked for staff salary.
"While appointing the six persons, Ms. Chepkorir also totally ignored the gender principle which is a requirement in public appointments as the dictates of the Constitution. There are only three women out of the 15 staff she has employed in her office," the petitioners allege.
The six persons are Bett Kipkirui (county manager, office of woman representative), Dominic Mutai (deputy manager), Sheila Chepng'eno (county coordinator), Josephat Kiplangat (field officer), Pius Kiplangat (communications officer) and Emmanuel Kipkorir (media personnel).
However, the petitioners have not revealed the purported family tie between the MP and each of the six employees.
They are named as interested parties in the unfair labor practice case.
The MP is also being chastised for failing to ensure diversity and equality throughout the process.
The case has been transpired to the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Eldoret from Nairobi.
