Ruth Matete is mourning the death of her husband Pastor John Apewajoye.
The gospel singer and Tusker Project Fame season 5 winner dated her Nigerian man for almost three years and were married for only five months when death struck.
She walked down the aisle with John on November 22 at a private wedding.
“The wedding was successful, we thank God,” she said.
Sharing the sad news on social media, Matete asked her followers to pray for her during this difficult time.
“My Husband Beloved John Apewajoye has gone to be with the Lord ..I humbly ask for your prayers during this difficult time,” she wrote.
Early this month, John posted a photo with his wife Ruth on social media in which he captioned;
“Thank you my love for being a wife and not a knife..
We have a great future ahead of us. Let’s keep on pushing and serving God together. He shall surely reward us.”
Ruth responded saying;
I love you my love. Yes we have a great future ahead.”
John Apewajoye, aka Beloved John, had been married before they hooked up.
John was previously married to Juliet Aihinomo Idehen who is based in Nigeria and they had two children.
In a oast interview, Matete told classic 105 she was aware but they had separed,
“Tell her to provide proof they are still married. I am aware that John is her ex-husband but they are not married anymore. I know the children because they are my husband’s kids.”
John succumbed to a fire accident on Sunday.
