FINALLY; Whatsapp “Stories” Feature Is Now Official

If you are the type of person who likes to put his/her life out there, you’re in for a treat. You don’t have to fill our timelines with your gazillion photos be it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with some crazy hashtags like #livingthelife #justhadlunch #mylifeisawesome .

Facebook owned, Whatsapp has updated its features and will now allow you to post your status update as a video or a collection photo. The Snap Chat – like feature which is also similar to Instagram stories will have the status updates disappear after 24 hours.

The cool part is that your contacts will be able to comment on your post in real time.

The feature will also allow users to add doodles, funny texts, GIFs and emojis.

Once your WhatsApp is updated you will have an option to create a new status update. There will be a status bar to allow you do so, and at the same time, you will be able to see others.

According to WhatsApp, the number of photos sent daily has doubled year over the year to 3.3 billion. People are sending 760 million videos and 80 million GIFs daily.

The question however remains; will Kenyans adopt this new update considering our concern for data bundles? Let’s wait and see. I personally think it will unclog the number of photos stored on my phone.

The update is being rolled out from today.
