Two men have been left fighting for their lives after separate stabbings in Victoria.

The stabbings happened this morning which included one man who took a knife to the head in an altercation outside a pub.

The man, in his 40s, was stabbed in the head at about 3.35am after an argument with two women and two men in the car park of the Chelsea Heights Hotel in the southeast Melbourne suburb of Aspendale Gardens.

The other man, in his 20s, was stabbed several times at about 5.25am in the Geelong suburb of Whittington.

He was stabbed after a fight on Redstone Court and was taken to University Hospital Geelong where he was fighting for his life.

The man attacked outside the Melbourne pub was left bleeding and waiting to die by his attackers, who remain on the run.
