Lyles' stride was ahead of Kishane Thompson’s by just five thousandths of a second in a thrilling photo finish.

American sprinter Noah Lyles secured Olympic gold in the men’s 100-meter final at the Paris Olympics, winning by an incredibly narrow margin.

Lyles' stride was ahead of Kishane Thompson’s by just five thousandths of a second in a thrilling photo finish.

With a lifetime best time of 9.79 seconds, Lyles officially earned the title of the world’s fastest man, edging past Thompson, who took the silver medal.

Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson, who narrowly missed out on gold, expressed a mix of disappointment and gratitude. The incredibly close race kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

To add on our own Kenyan unfortunate case of our 100M olympic athlete here is how it went;

Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man, delivered an impressive performance. during the 100m heats at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, clocking 10.08 seconds and securing a spot in the semi-finals.

He won his heat, leaving Italian Ali Chituru and Joshua Hartmann in second and third place, respectively.

However, in the semifinals, despite achieving a national record time of 10.00 seconds, he missed out on qualifying for the finals.

Only the top two athletes from his semifinal could book their positions in the final race.

It’s worth noting that Omanyala faced challenges in the past, including a 14-month suspension after testing positive for the prohibited substance betamethasone.

He maintains that this was due to pain medication received for a back injury and not intentional doping.

Although he didn’t advance to the finals, Omanyala’s sprinting prowess has inspired many and solidified his status as Africa’s fastest man
