Several MPs who supported the controversial Finance Bill 2024 have faced public backlash, with citizens attacking them and expressing their anger.

Despite some MPs making hasty retreats and apologizing for not listening to the public, the anger has not subsided.

These MPs ignored the popular call to reject the Finance Bill 2024, dismissing concerns raised by their constituents.

John Kiarie

Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie experienced a hostile reception at a funeral service, where he was booed while offering his condolences.

Ignoring the noise initially, Kiarie continued speaking until a woman intervened to reduce the disturbance.

The negative reaction from the youths stemmed from Kiarie's remarks about the anti-Finance Bill protests.

He claimed that external forces did not influence parliamentary decisions and argued that a parliamentary committee had engaged Kenyans about the Finance Bill 2024 long before what he termed "fake demonstrations."

Kiarie further suggested that people were editing photos from the internet and presenting them as Gen Z protest images.

Mwengi Mutuse

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse also faced public anger during a funeral in his constituency.

A video that went viral on social media showed the MP seated in the front row, engaging in an altercation with a man seated a few meters away.

The situation escalated when another man approached and grabbed Mutuse, leading to a scuffle involving many others.

The crowd quickly grew, and the MP was eventually led away by a man holding him.

Ababu Namwamba

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba faced difficulty addressing attendees at Fred Omondi's memorial service in Nairobi.

In his capacity as the head of the arts docket in the Cabinet, Namwamba attended the late comic's memorial but was met with jeers from a population aggrieved by the Finance Bill 2024.

The angry attendees eventually booed him off the stage.
