Producer Tedd Josiah exposes the rot in the music industry, narrates his frustrations

They include the famous 'I am Unbwogable' by Gidigidimaji, 'Usijali' by Hameed, 'Atoti' by Wicky Mosh among others.

Kenyan producer and Businessman Tedd Josiah has revealed that he has never earned anything in royalties even after working with big names.

''My heart bleeds and hurts when I think about having given Kenya all my youth, using my gifts and talents to build the music industry only to earn ZERO royalty because of a broken system,'' he said.

He added by saying that he made that revelation intentionally - to touch on people who are busy building palaces with artists money.

''May God intervene.''

In the context of music, royalties usually relate to getting permission to use music, from someone who has the right to control how that music is used.

Those rights mainly arise under copyright law, with different rights relating to different aspects of the music.

In his career, he produced several songs most of which got high numbers from fans.

They include the famous 'I am Unbwogable' by Gidigidimaji, 'Usijali' by Hameed, 'Atoti' by Wicky Mosh among others.

He is credited for producing compilation albums called 'Kenyan, The First Chapter' and 'Kenyan, The Second Chapter'.

The two albums featured Hardstone, Kalamashaka, Gidi Gidi Maji Maji, Necessary Noize, In-Tu, Jimmy Gathu, Maina Kageni, Pete Odera, Ndarling P and Ugandan musician Kawesa.

Tedd has worked with many of the most popular Kenyan performers like Poxi Presha, Suzzana Owiyo, Achieng' Abura, Abbi, Nazizi, and Didge among others.
