Akothee's 13 steps for tackling depression

Singer, Akothee has disclosed that after battling with depression in the years 2018, 2019, and 2021 she has now learnt to distance herself from toxicity for the sake of her sanity.

In an Instagram post, she stated that she is still the same sweet Esther that everyone knew, and that the only thing that has changed is her boundaries.

"I am still the same sweet Esther, the loving one the kind one the sane one who supported everyone that needed support, the only thing that has changed in her is. BOUNDARIES"

The singer revealed that she guards her sanity like life and death.

"I built boundaries to guard my sanity. After battling depression without knowing now guard my space like its life and death."

Guarding her space arose from her realization that when the people she strives to help get back on their feet they never appreciate it and will use the energy that they have gained to destroy you.

"I MADE THIS DECISIONS AFTER REALISING THAT .The same people you have given food , accommodation, shelter, life will get full energy and use the sane energy to kill you."

She started by writing:

"I have not changed, you all showed me who you are. I gave you my best, that's the very much I could give, if I would go further than that, I would find myself in this situation, on the streets or 6 feet under."

Below are the tips on how Akothee tackled depression:

1. I let go of anything that tampers with my peace.

2. I avoid procrastination and do what is right at the right time, I don't postpone problems.

3. I say NO immediately my guts start swelling.

4. I don't stay in any wassap groups I quickly and immediately leave as soon as I sense it's getting toxic or could be I am the Toxic one.

5. I avoid family politics as much as I can, family politics can drive Nuts therefore I am not in any family wassap groups.

6. I shut down gossip before they get into my system.

7. Very limited online flights, I rarely exchange with fans online, we now just have fun.

8. I release people with negative vibes around me, in fact I run away from them.

9. If we are friends and you keep blue ticking me or behave like I need you more than you need me, I block, and delete your number.

11. If you can't reach me just know you are BLOCKED 🚫.

12. If you ask me for money and I don't feel like I should give you. I will say NO without feeling guilty (this has shocked many 😳) And I am fine with it, I feel good when I tell you I don't have, so you can go and tell people how broke I am. It's my brokenness, not yours 🤣🤣Again I don't owe you so Chill 💋.

13. only do the right thing at the right time, with the right people, not because of anything, or anyone, but because it's right to do so.
