Top gear final scenes to be screened soon

The final scenes recorded by Jeremy Clarkson for Top Gear will be screened later this year, the boss of BBC2 says.

The footage was shot prior to Clarkson’s suspension over an altercation with a producer and will likely go to air this summer.

The TV host was suspended by the BBC amid an internal investigation into the attack on producer Oisin Tymon.

His contract was subsequently not renewed, with BBC director-general Tony Hall saying a “line has been crossed”.

North Yorkshire Police said that following its own investigation Clarkson would not face further police action over the incident.

Ms Shillinglaw said that while she will “definitely” look at appointing a female host to replace Clarkson, she added it is “not a driving priority”.

In his column in The Sun newspaper on Saturday,¬†Clarkson admitted he would “miss” presenting the show.

“Heartfelt thanks to all those who have written to say how much they will miss me on Top Gear,” he wrote. “It’s not as much, however, as I’ll miss being there.”
