Why Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize will pay more for video vixen wigs

The Kenyan government has been kind to us girls and not added taxes for the beauty industry.

Sadly for our Tanzanian counterparts this is not the case.

They will have to dig deeper into their pockets to buy that wig or hair extension.

Both synthetic and human hair wigs can cost anywhere from $15 to over $1000.

While no Tanzanian celebrity has spoken out about this, we know several who wear wigs. From Wema Sepetu, to Hamisa Mobetto, Vanessa Mdee and Ray C, these are amongst women who will have to break the bank to slay.

The Tanzania government has proposed new taxes on wigs, drivers’ license fees, and sanitary towels in its new budget.

The Tanzanian minister for Planning and Finance Philpo Mpango read the budget in Parliament in a move highly supported by MP’s.

Wigs manufactured locally will now attract a tax of 10 percent while the imported ones will face a 25 per cent tax.

The minister also reinstated tax on sanitary pads because as he argues previous measures to exempt the items from taxes has not been passed down to consumers as businessmen continued to benefit from lower taxes.

Here are several reasons why wigs are expensive

1. The Hair Quality

The quality of hair which was made for human hair wigs determined 80% of the wig cost.

2. Use or no use of a Lace Cap

3. If it’s a frontal, full lace, density of wigs determine cost

Lace front wigs and 360 lace wigs both made by lace frontals (or 360 frontals) and hair bundles, so they are hand tied plus machine made, take less time than full lace wigs. If you want to make a full lace wig, it needs about 40 hours (working all the 40 hours), and also if you want single knot hairline and silk base, it will need more than three times as long. If you want 150% density even 180% density will need long time because the manufacturers must knot more hair on the lace cap.

4. human hair vs synthetic hair

Synthetic hair is much cheaper than human hair, it can be made very straight texture. Synthetic hair is pressed, cut and predesignated, it is very straight, not easy to change the style. But it is not human hair, it is not soft and smooth, even though it has gloss. I just learn about synthetic hair cannot make other styles which you want, it cannot make by hair curler, it is not controlled by heat.

What’s worse, human hair is natural so far than synthetic hair, and the lifespan is longer. Synthetic wigs can only last less than 3 months, but human hair wigs can last more than 1 year with proper care.

Making a human hair wig need to spend lots of money and energy, so the selling price is higher than other hair products.

Common visible mistakes women wearing wigs make

Wigs came to make our lives (ladies) easy. But we make small common mistakes that make us look ridiculous in wigs. We have you covered. Here are afew mistakes we make and how to solve them and never make them again.

1. Not properly wrapping your wig

Your hair needs to be properly wrapped. You can opt to plait some flat cornrows or just wrap your hair but it needs to be close to your scalp. This will cause the wig to lay comfortably on your head without bulging out. This will make the wig look nice. Very natural like its your own hair.

2. Wearing the wrong color of wig cap

A wig cut should be of the same complexion with your skin. So if you choose a wig cap that is lighter that your skin complexion, it will definitely look unrealistic. The wig cap will also help in flattening the hair even more

3. Putting wig part line in the wrong place

If the wig part line is on the side always wear it on the side, if you put it in the middle its will look crazy. This will also help in making the wig look much natural.

4. Density of the wig

If it is an afro wig, the density need to be high. So if the density is low for an afro, it will definitely look funny and not natural. So density varies with the wig. Ladies, choose the right wig with the right density.

5. cutting the lace from the wig when its is not on your head

Most people who do this dont know it is a mistake. When you cut the lace from the wig when your head, you will follow the shape of your hairline. When you cut it while its not on your head you will have difficulties in wearing the wig.

The few times he’d tried to touch my hair I’d casually dodged him without being too obvious. Then just when we began to have what would have been some of the most amazing s#x I’d ever had, instead the unthinkable happened.

In the heat of the moment, he reached up to squeeze and pull my long strands of “hair” and he yanked so hard my wig slipped right off. He looked stunned and terrified at first as he stared at this big wad of 1B hair in his hands, but then he started to laugh. I was so mortified, I jumped out of bed, ripped the wig from his hands and ran and hid in his bathroom.”

Are you aware that the weave on your head could actually be goat hair?

A BBC news report has uncovered what could just be the most embarrassing rip off targeting African women.

The much loved weaves, wigs and hair extensions hitherto believed to be of Brazilian or Indian origin could actually be from goats in China.

The report followed the process from how and where the hair is collected, processed and packed to when it is sold to unsuspecting traders.

The hair is usually labeled, apparently, according to its origin; Brazil, Peru or India, but this is rarely true.

Of the 39 countries that form the largest buyers of these products, 37 of them are from Africa.
