Kenyan singer Wendy Kimani who sang the popular song Unajua with Gilad, has opened up about the harsh realities of living with PCOS.
In a hearty message, she told how she though she had managed to manage the symptoms only for things to take a turn.
She wrote ‘For me, this means a lifestyle change! Not a 2 week diet or a 2 year lifestyle change. A FOREVER lifestyle.
This has completely been confirmed for me when the pandemic hit. Everything changed especially my pcos lifestyle routine.
My cycle had been showing up regularly every month since 2016(when started my new lifestyle).
I had lost weight, the commute to work included the walking and biking I needed. So when everything changed and I became a Working From Home mom (thanks for this [email protected]😉), my workout was walking from my bed to my desk🤦♀️, the healthy meals at work were no longer there and I just didn’t take the time to meal prep, the stress that came with the pandemic persisted, I backslide into unmanaged PCOS.
3 years of a good routine down the drain all because I thought I had managed my PCOS enough for it to not go back to what it was.
I was soooo wrong but so greatful for this lesson. I starting again, it’s so hard! I’ve done it before, I can do it again.
To manage PCOS, is to accept a completely new way of living and keep that routine going…FOREVER! (or until YOUR body needs changes)
FORGET ABOUT QUICK FIXES AND LOSE-WEIGHT-FAST FADS, CHOOSE A LIFE STYLE THAT KEEPS YOUR PCOS MANAGED.’
She does regular talks about it on her youtube channel dubbing it #wendysnewnormal.
