Celebrities open up on how they coped with the death of their kids and spouses

Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy. It is a wound that never heals and a void that can never be filled no matter how much time passes.

Losing a child or a parent is even worse given that children and parents create a connection immediately after conception thus severing those ties is almost impossible.

Norman Cousin once said ” Death is not the greatest losing life, the greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.”

I miss Regina everyday she was my anchor mourns producer – Tedd Josiah

Couple cry

On April 2014, the gospel fraternity lost a talented artiste Peter Kabere after he was electrocuted while washing his car.

At the time of his death, Kaberere’s wife Njeri was expectant with their second child and the shock of of his death is something she will never be able to put in words.

“Kabbz, I Will Always LOVE You” Kaberere’s Wife Writes a Tear-Jerking Tribute To Her Late Husband

The late Peter Kaberere with his wife Njeri

Unlike many people who let depression get the best of them, Njeri has come up with creative ways to fight her grief.

Speaking to The Nairobian she said

“I have found ways of coping with grief that are positive.  I let my body go through such emotions as crying and feeling sad. I talk about what I feel and express myself. I try not to numb my pain but release it eventually.

Njeri Kaberere with her kids

I have found that reading does help one to cope with grief. I read books that help me. I love reading books about heaven and I find courage in the knowledge that my husband is with God. I also rest well and do the things I love.”

Given that her kids are also in mourning, she includes them in the healing process.

“I do a lot of writing and journaling, which helps, besides celebrating what her husband was when alive. She talks it out with her kids as they jam to his songs, once in a while, we visit the grave and pray together,”

This is what the late Janet Kanini’s husband is doing to keep her memory alive

TV presenter Isabella Kiturui lost her spouse after battling colon cancer when she was only 25-years-old with a three-month-old baby boy.

She says

“I mourned for eight years between 2005 and 2013. It was a shock, like a never-ending nightmare. I had been married for just one year,”

The TV girl revealed how her pastor, counseled her asking her to move on and she did so though it took a while.

From that day, Isabella Kituri decided to try and forget what had happened and she said:

“I decided to remove my wedding band seven years later after a talk with my pastor who encouraged me to move on.”

image-2018-07-21(19)(1)
Isabella with her son

Adding that:

“I had a meeting with myself. I had to stop behaving as if the world owed me for the loss and pain I suffered. I began to train myself to see the world as a stage of opportunities. I stopped feeling that people around me should give me their shoulder.”

Instead, I started sharing my experience, empowering others in similar situations. I became more useful to the universe,” she says. “I called myself ‘Blessed Bella’ as a mantra to remind me I can be happy again.”

Although she is not in a relationship, she goes out for ‘coffee’ a lot and here is her greatest lesson from her journey as a widow

“Be gentle with yourself, be happy with your space and seek peace from within yourself, never from others.”

George Ikua lost his wife Jane Kanini in April 2017, after she lost her battle with lung cancer leaving behind two kids.

Speaking  to the Nairobian about her death, George said

“Everything became surreal, it’s like she is still there, but she is gone.”

Ikua admits small blessing have helped him. He is tighter with the kids: “I guess we are a happy family,” but being a single dad and father to a daughter has created major adjustments, starting most mornings with them, dropping them off and running my biashara until 3pm when I pick them be-fore starting my life at 8pm when they sleep.”

maxresdefault
George with his late wife Janet Kanini

George received a lot of help from his family in taking of the kids even as he made adjustments in both his social and financial life

“My sister-in-law, sister and their godmother have been nothing short of angels for my little girl. But I realize I am the primary source of love and can’t delegate that. So, I can say I am a proud mummy and do most of the things with her, you should see me in the salon!”

Ikua admits that grieving never stops as “when you lose a loved one, it never goes away. The pain just dulls with some very dark days reappearing”

As a way of mourning and keeping Janet’s memories alive, George kept some of her stuff, his plan was to also share some of it with Janet’s siblings

He said
“I am still getting round to it, but I have picked a few pieces to pass to Jasmine because of their sentimental value and for the memories. The rest I will donate to her sisters and charity. Funny how when someone dies you realize it’s just stuff.” Ikua lost his wedding band before Janet died “and we never got round to replacing it.”

Music Producer Tedd Josiah had all his life planned out with his beautiful wife Regina Katar but fate had other plans for the couple.

Regina lost her life after suffering from a rare disease Thrombocytopenia that saw her blood platelet count fall below normal after childbirth.

According to Tedd Josiah Regina’s platelets were so diluted, leading to a significantly reduced count. Sadly, all through she had an internal bleeding, which had not been detected, nor stopped, because of her low platelet count.

Speaking on her death he said

“Imagine calling someone your everything – home, safe place, your all – and watching them slowly fade away on their deathbed in less than an hour. I was left on a free fall and lost. In many ways, Regina was my anchor.

tedd

I have to make a lot of adjustments; I am more hands-on with my baby. I have to wash her, clean, cook, feed and be always there for her,” explains Josiah. “I am lucky my office is in my home so I can spend all the time I need with her,”

Painful Details Of How Tedd Josiah’s Wife Lost Her Life Emerge

Though it is hard for him to raise his daughter alone, he is thankful that the in-laws have been supportive.

He hasn’t forgotten his wife as he is still grieving and misses the good times he shared with Regina. The scar of that loss is quite obvious, proof that there is such a thing as true love.

“Losing someone you love isn’t easy, especially if it was real love. They say that love never dies, so imagine the confusion in my mind on some days. The loss in my mind. The heaviness in my heart just thinking about the fun times and wishing she’d pop out from behind the door and scream ‘boo!’ and scare me. That’s what we used to do to each other… and listening to a beautiful song and wishing I could share that with her. But she’s not here.”

Ted says that to keep his wife’s memories alive he chose to keep all her stuff so that he can pass them over to their daughter Jay.

“I kept it all. Some precious stuff will stay with me until my daughter is old enough to inherit it all…to let my little Jay know that her mom was loved, her memory was kept safe, but so were her valuable things.”

Uganda’s female artiste Julianna Kanyomozi, lost her son Keron who had been admitted at Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi after a severe Asthmatic attack.

During an interview with The Nairobian, Juliana opened up on how she was dealing with her sons death  confessing that she had at one point been angry with God, but she was taking baby steps to heal.

“I’ve been through a lot. I’ve always been extremely strong. But this was beyond it. There are things that happen to you and you cannot find the perfect vocabulary to explain them. It’s that pain that leaves you helpless and no one else but God can help!” Juliana opened up a while back.”

Juliana with her son Keron

She goes on to add

“I was very angry with God. He had just taken away the most important thing I had in life. Then again, there’s always a reason for everything single thing. He does,” she said adding that she was not really in touch with the world at that moment.”

Juliana went on to open up on how she deals with her grief given that their is no standard way of mourning when a calamity such as death strikes.

She says

“I have my bad days where I sit with a box of tissue and let the tears flow. I don’t know how long it will take me to move on. It is something that will always be a part of me. I’m only being a strong woman.

“It is all part of the healing process. I’m taking baby steps. I’m not yet there emotionally. When you’ve gone through something like this, you have to find the strength first.”

‘I don’t want them to ever think that I hate their mother,’ Tedd Josiah opens up about his ex-wife and teenage kids

September is the most trying month for Tedd Josiah after he lost the mother of his daughter, Reginah Katara, a year ago after developing complications leaving them heartbroken.

He has been raising his daughter Jameela, popularly known as ‘Gummy Bear’, for a year now.

The wife suffered from a condition called thrombocytopenia, characterized by abnormally low levels of thrombocytes, also known as platelets, in the blood.

“I know this a very trying month for me and difficult for us,” he told Word Is.

Previously, Tedd was married but separated with the first wife, with whom he sired two children in 2008. In previous interviews, he said a lot of things crumbled at that time. Some of his fans on social media, where he shares the journey of his one-year-old daughter, have however been trying to question why he does not post his children from the previous marriage.

“There are always things to leave public and others to leave private. My separation with my ex-wife has been written about by most media houses. I have never spoken about it because the children involved are teenagers and I don’t want them to ever think that I hate their mother. So by me commenting on what happened, that is very bad for everyone involved and I will be opening open wounds.”

Tedd Josiah shares the last post by his late wife 2 days before her untimely death

“The children are there and I have never denied them and I take care of them and I don’t ask people about their children,” Tedd said.He said it is only people who are bitter with their lives who can ask such questions.

“When somebody comes and starts doing nasty things on a photo of a child, you wonder if their father left them or were they abandoned or have they been raped or do they have social issues, and I wonder if I will react positively or negatively.

The best thing is to be positive to them since they are already faced by other problems. You can put a photo of your father and somebody may say your father had many wives and he was a bastard. The first reaction for you is you will feel angry because you love your father but why do they post that? Most people post such things because that is what they feel and that has nothing to do with you. So you have to understand them.”

image-2018-08-1051

Raising his daughter Wendo has not been easy, but he wants to give her the best life.

“It has been very hard to raise a young girl because of first of all my age. I have decided in my heart not to have many people around her. I have a nanny who comes in the morning and goes in the evening, so we are just the two of us in the evening and weekends. It is not easy but I prefer that way because I wanted to bond with her as much as possible. We want to make her happy.”

Asked if he will marry again, Tedd was hesitant but said he is not sure.

“A lot of people love the idea of getting married but they cannot stand the reality of being married. I am happy with my child and God is the author of my future. I can’t predict about it because I don’t know.”

Tedd Josiah reveals why he changed his daughters name ‘to Gummy Bear’

Here is his message for his female fans who think changing diapers ni kazi ya wanawake.

“From my DM “I’ve got a male friend who doesn’t think it’s good to wash his baby or change their diapers cause she’s a girl”
I will say this very clearly
IF YOU DON’T WASH OR CHANGE YOUR CHILD YOU ARE LOOSING OUT ON A BOND THAT NO AMOUNT OF MONEY OR TOYS WILL EVER HELP MEND!!
That you have a wife or a mother to your child and that they are burdened with all this alone is wrong. Ever ask yourself what happens if God forbid something happens to your wife…? Will you employ a full time Nanny to give your child love? Will you give your child up? Or will you know what to do cause you been doing it anyway?
Bond with your little ones.

‘True love does exist ‘ Tedd Josiah declares as he celebrates his late wife Reginah

The best thing in life is finding someone who knows all your flaws, mistakes and and still thinks that you are completely amazing, Tedd Josiah agrees on this.

Tedd was married to the late Reginar Katar before her untimely death leaving behind a beautiful daughter who is the apple of her fathers eyes. Even in death, Tedd believes that in her he found true love.

‘Last few nights have been hell’ Tedd Josiah laments on Jay’s sleep pattern

Music producer Tedd Josiah is a single father not by wish but it’s because he lost his wife Regina to the cruel hand of death, leaving behind a young girl named Jay.

Well he has been doing a good job raising his daughter up but given the fact that he is treading on unfamiliar territories he has a few things he is struggling with.

Babies are fussy when it comes to getting them to sleep and Jay is no different as she is giving her dad a hard time.

He took to his page to narrate how hard his night was due to Jay’s sleeping tactics.

In his Channel, Tedd recounts a moment with his wife and even informed people that she was a good singer.

“We had tried actually to try and create a story around the two of them because her mum was a great singer and we had started shooting some videos for our songs.”

tedd
Adding;

“I remember how she was one day dressed so well by her mom after crying for my cameras and we did tried and created some moments together. I really thank God for those moments because those are the moments, Jay and I have and as she go through in life, she will have a solid history of her mom and she won’t miss out some things like how did mum look like, how her mum dressed.”

He also shared his recent experience with her daughter;

“This week something happened as I was feeding her yogurt and as I put the packet down she insisted on taking it and so I gave her, she started feeding me. From that I learnt that she as known that her favorite things should be shared by the people who are close to her and that is what she was doing.”

Tedd Josiah opens up on how his daughter fought jaundice after birth

Raising a child single handedly especially as a man is not easy, since new borns do not automatically bond with their dads unlike women who bond almost automatically.

Local producer Tedd Josiah has not had it easy especially after losing his wife Regina Katar when their daughter was only a few months old. Tedd has done a good job raising his daughter who recently turned one.

The beautiful girl, who is the apple of her fathers eye, is an eye candy but behind that beautiful smile is a queen who over came jaundice when she was only one-month-old as her mother was recovering from child birth wounds.

This sad event in Tedd Josiah’s life was awakened yesterday after a terrifying situation that almost led to his daughter being hospitalized.

He wrote

“Am i ok?Well more or less yes.
Tonight we almost ended up in hospital & it brought back the painful pain week long that we spent in hospital when Jay was born. We are well now.
Jay was born with jaundice and needed phototherapy while her mom was recovering from a C section and learning how to breastfeed 🤱.

I watch her run round the house with a happy heart ❣ but heavy heart too as i think to myself in tears most times “God couldn’t u let this girls mom see these beautiful moments?”…….. But i guess seeing such a loving person taken away and watching her little bundle of Joy run round can be challenging.
God gives God takes.”

During a previous interview, Tedd opened up about his journey as a widower, saying it has not been easy given the fact that he now has to play the role of father and mother for little miss Jay.

Pride and excitement for Tedd Josiah as his daughter turns one

He said

“Imagine calling someone your everything – home, safe place, your all – and watching them slowly fade away on their deathbed in less than an hour. I was left on a free fall and lost. In many ways, Regina was my anchor. I have to make a lot of adjustments; I am more hands-on with my baby. I have to wash her, clean, cook, feed and be always there for her,” explains Josiah. “I am lucky my office is in my home so I can spend all the time I need with her,”

‘Look at this beautiful soul’ shouts Alicia Keys after watching video of Githurai girl

Weeks after Gracious Amani was captured singing melodiously to Alicia Keys song ‘Girl On Fire”, the video has gone viral and finally reached Alicia Keys.

The celebrated musician could not hide her excitement after seeing the video of the laid back girl and she expressed her happiness by writing;

“Look at this beautiful soul!! SHINE!!!!🌟🌟🌟😍😍😍 @thetropixs”

The video was taken by a tourist identified as Chantel, and introduced Amani to the world in the caption below

“So before I came to Kenya I decided to try and limit my social media usage to be present and really take in this amazing experience with our Influence Hers crew But we’re coming to an end and I had to post this beautiful moment!!

While finishing up one of our service projects with Fountain Youth this little girl came up to us as we were leaving and asked to sing a song. Then she blew us away… #undiscoveredtalent
Share, share, help us make her viral!”

The video went viral in Kenya with celebrities such as Big Ted ,Vivianne among others promising to work with the young girl to fully explore her talent. But the icing on the cake was when Alicia Keys paid homage to the young Githurai girls efforts.

Local music producer Tedd Josiah was quick to note that as much as the young girls talented had been ‘noted’ by the international artist, that is not enough and here is the message he has for Alicia Keys on how to best help Amani

“If this child needs someone, she needs u to step in and change her life. This gift will be misused and then she will be dumped back in the slums of Kenya yet she can conquer the world. @aliciakeys as a music producer whose worked in Kenya for over 27 years with all the top artists i ask u, PLEASE TAKE THIS GIRL TO MUSIC SCHOOL OUT OF HERE AND LET HER SHINE. PLEASE 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼”

These photos of music producer Ted Josiah bonding with his daughter will uplift your spirits

Tedd Josiah is an institution when it comes to music production and talent scouting in this country. The man has had tremendous success in his field, even establishing his own production studio called Blu Zebra.

The studio produced music for artistes such as Poxi Presha, Suzzana Owiyo, Achieng’ Abura, Abbi, and Didge.

He also founded the Kisima awards whose aim was to recognize the best in the music industry. But even with his success career-wise, how was his personal life? He hooked up with Regina Katar and they had a bouncing baby girl whose name is Jameela Wendo.

But sadly last year, Reginah passed away after a short illness. Mind you, their daughter was 3-months old when she passed away.

Many wondered how the former musician would respond to this cruel twist of fate? Would he buckle under the pressure and strain or would he rise up to the occasion?

The latter was what he did, as far as we can tell, because from the photos he posts on his Instagram page, you can see how enamoured he is with his spawn. He even playfully refers to her as Gummy Bear while he himself is Daddy bear.
