Baringo police officer hospitalized after stabbing himself on the chest

An Administration Police (AP) officer is recuperating at Baringo Referral Hospital – Kabarnet after stabbing himself on the chest in unclear circumstance on Friday evening.


Reportedly, Patrick Wekesa attached to Kaptimbor AP Camp locked himself inside his room, attempted to take his own life before he was rescued by his colleagues.


“He was screaming in pain and blood was oozing from the wound on his chest so we rushed in and helped him to the hospital” his colleague said.


The officer, who mans the gate at Governor Stanley Kiptis residential home in Kabarnet town, was allegedly drunk during the 4pm incident.

However County AP Commander Robinson Ndiwa disputed claims that the officer’s decision to kill himself resulted in sudden transfer from his workstation.


“The officer was drunk and his colleagues on duty had allowed him time off to go and relax before stabbing himself” Ndiwa said.


Statistic shows that cases of security officers taking their own lives in Baringo County is on the rise.


In March last year an AP officer Daniel Chemjor, 50, from Kapsoo in Baringo Central shot himself death in Marigat camp, Baringo South Sub-County.


“He had just returned back from his one month leave when he shot himself using his G3 gun” a colleague said.


On September 18 last year, another AP officer Robert Ewoi, 40, attached to the same camp, sneaked out of duty in the midnight to his house in Kampi ya Samaki-15kilometres away to shoot on the thigh injuring his wife Purity Elim, 20, before killing himself.


It is reported that the 40-year old officer was drunk during the incident.


On June 2017 Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) offer Jackson Mwangi turned rowdy shooting dead his two colleagues Gabriel Kung’u Njoroge and Francis Ekono, leaving Daniel Kyalo injured at Kasiela camp in Baringo South.

Murang’a: Woman Arrested For Stabbing Her Husband To Death

A 25-year-old woman was on Saturday arrested on allegations she stabbed her husband to death in Kangema sub-county, Murang’a county.

Dorcas Waigwe is said to have killed Julius Njuguna, 25, at their home in Gacharaigu village during a domestic squabble.

Njuguna died while receiving treatment at Murang’a General hospital where he was rushed.

Kangema DCIO Peter Wahome said neighbours heard a commotion in the young couple’s home and responded, only to find the man lying in a pool of blood.

He said a neighbour, who is also a relative, called for a taxi and together with his wife, they rushed Njuguna to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Wahome said after Njuguna died, those who took him to hospital reported the matter to Murang’a police station after which the man’s wife was arrested for questioning.

He said Waigwe will be arraigned on Monday.

Neighbours reported that the young couple has been having constant quarrels.

The incident followed barely a month after Gatunguru principal Samuel Mbogo was murdered in his home in Gakurwe.

The principal’s wife Alice Mugechi is facing a murder charge over the same.

Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege said she will organise seminars to train men on how to deal with domestic squabbles.

She noted that cases of women harming their husbands are on an alarming increase in Murang’a county.

“There is a need to establish what is happening in homes to prompt such actions. The seminars will focus on how men need to love their wives and keep peace in their families.”

Woman, 35, Is Charged With Stabbing a 65-Year-Old Chef To Death As He Sat In His Car

A 35-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with killing a chef after he was stabbed to death in his car.

Georgina Henshaw was charged with killing pensioner Philip Rolph, 65, in the early hours of last Friday.

Police and paramedics dashed to Alder Drive, in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, at 1 am after the 65-year-old victim managed to raise the alarm.


He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from West Midlands Police, said: ‘The victim was able to raise the alarm but sadly died a short while later.’

Henshaw, of Chelmsley Wood in Solihull, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today.

Her first appearance takes place tomorrow at Birmingham Crown Court.

Mr Rolph’s family have paid tribute the chef and grandfather, calling him ‘a family man, who was caring, helpful, kind, loving and generous who loved his life and his work.’

The boy said that while having intercourse with the deceased a tall man with a panga and a shiny knife appeared and issued him with the orders.

He said that the stranger directed him to stab the girl several times before he went to the deceased sister and informed her what he had done.

But in her ruling, the judge trashed the accused defense adding that it did not hold water and that it was unbelievable.

The judge noted that from the evidence adduced in court, the girl could have rebuffed the boy from having intercourse with her leading to the fatal attack.

Meoli noted that minutes before the minor died, she had clearly told her relatives the person who had stabbed her three times.

“The accused defense is unbelievable, conjured to absolve him and the prosecution has proven the case beyond any reasonable double,” she said.

On the accused defense that a mysteries man who was dressed in a dark cap appeared during the incident, the judge termed this as fiction and an invention of the minor.

She added that during the trial, the minor was careful to cover any loophole or crack adding that he too had a fertile but corrupted imagination.

The judge noted that it would be unfair to return the minor back to the harsh background that he had been raised in adding that he need counseling and education.

“There is no need to send the boy back to the dysfunctional background but to a place where he can be rehabilitated and undergo psychotherapy counseling,” she said.

In regards to this, a Nairobi lady who stabbed her husband to death two years ago in Huruma, Kambi Moto has confessed to the crime.

The lady by the name Charity Wambui Chege confessed to killing her husband after he accused her of infidelity, May 29th, 2014.

The court heard that the husband returned home drunk and claimed that a man had been answering her phone when he called.

The mother of three is said to have followed her late husband to the bedroom after picking up a knife in the kitchen and stabbed him from the back.

Wambui’s lawyer told the court that the mother of three is remorseful after spending two years in remand after she pleaded to a lesser charge of manslaughter.

She will be sentenced on July 5 and the lawyer said the accused had also graduated with a diploma in Theology and Counselling.

Woman who stabbed boyfriend 22 times arraigned in court

A 21-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend 22 times has been arraigned in court to face murder charges.

It’s alleged that on 19th September 2015, Ruth Kamande Wanjiru alias Biggy murdered Farid Mohammed in Buru Buru, Nairobi County.

She did not plead to the charges after the high court criminal division directed she be allocated a lawyer to defend her in court. Justice Lessit had directed that Kamende to be arraigned in court on Monday to plead to the charge preferred against her.

The young lady remains handcuffed on her hospital bed at the Kenyatta National Hospital under constant police surveillance as police continue with manslaughter investigations.

She is alleged to have tried to commit suicide after killing her lover.

University student stabs friend to death over beer

A university student in Nyeri is expected in court today to answer to murder charges after he allegedly stabbed his friend to death last Friday, over a bottle of beer.

Dedan Kiplang’at, a 23-year-old student at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri, was stabbed in the shoulder, neck and head repeatedly by 24-year-old Kevin Kibet after the two returned to their hostels from a drinking spree.

According to eyewitnesses, Kevin Kibet followed Kiplang’at to his room and demanded for the beer his friend was consuming. The two students started quarreling, leading to the murder.  Dennis Kiplangat was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital In Mweiga Township where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to The Star Newspaper, Nyeri Central police boss Charles Rotich confirmed the incident saying that Kibet will be arraigned in court Monday morning to face murder charges. He is being held at Nyeri Central police station for questioning.

Wife stabs husband to death during quarrel

A man died after his wife stabbed him several times in the abdomen at their home in Karuri, Kiambu county on Monday morning. Ruth Njeri, 22, reportedly attacked the 25-year-old with a kitchen knife during a quarrel at about 12.10am.

Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ngetich told KNA in his office that the man died at Kiambu hospital while undergoing treatment. Ngetich urged those with information on Njeri to help the police find her.

Another man, 29-year-old Jeremiah Mwangi Wangari, died under similar circumstances at Depot area in Kiambu town last week . Wangari’s wife, Catherine Wamugu Kenga, allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife after a quarrel at 9am.

The public intervened and rushed him to hospital where he died. Ngetich said Kenga was arrested and an investigation launched.
