Mother of Sonko’s secret teen daughter sues for child support

A woman has taken Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to court over accusations of neglecting their 15-year-old daughter.

In the court papers, the woman claims Sonko has refused to take his parental responsibility and now wants the court to intervene.

“The applicant and the respondent are the biological parents of the minor. The defendant has refused and or neglected to provide for the minor with adequate and or basic necessities such as education, good health food, clothing, shelter, entertainment and medication,” read in part court papers dated May 12..

The case has been filed at the magistrate court in Ngong, Kajiado county.

She wants Sonko compelled to contribute Sh50,000 for food and shopping, 45,000 for rent, 30,000 for security, 20,000 for clothing, 20,000 for househelp, Sh20,000 medical cover, Sh4000 minor’s salon expenses, Sh5000 for DStv, Sh50,000 for minors school debit card, Sh5000 for gas among others.

The woman, whose identity has been withheld to protect the minor, says her form two daughter has not been able to reopen school since April 26 because of a lack of fees.

He wants the former governor instructed to pay Sh86,000 fees, Sh30,450 school-related expenses and another Sh37,000 outstanding school fees balance pending the determination of the case.

The woman says the refusal by Sonko to attend to the child’s needs, yet he is a person of means, has caused minor emotional stress and ridicule among her peers.

“The unequal treatment has affected the minor psychologically as she does not understand why her father is abrasive towards her. Besides, the minor has been bullied and ridiculed in school because of her surname thus causing her emotional trauma and has indicated she wants to be transferred from the school,” she said in the court papers.

She said they entered into a relationship in 1999 which culminated in a romantic affair.

Court papers show the relationship was an on and off affair. The two got their child on April 17, 2007.

Why P Unit’s Gabu doesn’t want Kenyans to donate to Turkana drought victims fund

Willis Raburu posed

My question is why are we here again? We there in 2017 ,2018 and why in 2019.

We are still in a situation where people are still asking whether debating on deaths as if they are just numbers.

It is no longer breaking news that there is gonna be a drought. I am telling you there will be a drought in 2020 so are we gonna start contributing again?

Let us not be enablers, lets not enable the government, counties to be lazy and not to work.

Mike Sonko

He added:

If we continue to become silent and fall into contribution and just tweeting and then nothing happens we are gonna be here again.

So I want you guys to think really hard about this country.

Below are photos of Sonko’s donations to those affected by hunger:

Oops! Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko Turns To a PREACHER, Then Kenyans On Twitter React!

Gideon Kioko Mike Mbuvi aka Sonko is currently focusing on his campaigns for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat after unveiling his running mate Paul Igathe, former Shell MD, recently.

Analysts say it’s a tight race and due to this, he has to woo voters in every way. Over the weekend, he supplied water to Umoja residents and has been undertaking a lot of projects to prove his determination to transform Nairobi.

5 Things You NEED To Know About SONKO’S Running Mate Polycarp Igathe

“In my first 100 days in office, I will abolish permits for mama mboga and hawkers and also reduce land rates,” said Sonko a few weeks ago when asked what plans he has for Nairobi.

Well, other than his manifesto and projects Sonko seems to have turned to the Maker to seek guidance and victory during the general elections, and lately, he has been sharing photos while attending church services to show that his faith is undeterred.

This time round, he decided to take his Godly acts to another level, by sharing a Bible verse on Twitter. Along with the verse he posted a photo showing him with eyes shut in deep prayer, but Twitter was not convinced.

This is what he captioned the photo;

God says, “Turn back to me and ask for help, and I will answer your prayers.” -Jer 29:12

Well, as you know, Kenyans are never shy to speak their minds, and when it comes to KOT, you know how savage they can be. The post received a lot of feedback, both good and bad.

Sonko, Kidero supporters clash at County Assembly as senator names graft suspects

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s supporters faced off with Senator Mike Sonko’s outside City Hall on Tuesday. The crowds sang songs in praise of their preferred leader and in mockery of the other, and teased each other.

Sonko’s supporters had gathered ahead of his address to city MCAs following their return to work after the December holidays. Kidero’s supporters also showed up. Two trucks of anti-riot police were deployed to maintain order.

Sonko arrived from a shop on Mama Ngina Street where he had gone to photocopy a bundle of documents. He said the documents support his claims that corruption is rampant at City Hall.

Sonko claimed that Sh252 million was embezzled during Kidero’s transition into office. He said officials did not bank the money as required.
He further accused Chief of Staff George Wainaina of corruption and one Peter Hongo of fraudulently awarding a garbage collection tender.

“Poverty and unemployment are affecting our people. The county government needs to create wealth. I will support the county in formulating laws but the Executive should address issues of accountability. We can only make Nairobi great if individuals do not steal public money,” he said.

Sonko said he has played an oversight role in administration. He said the county chief finance officer Jimmy Kiamba was sent on compulsory leave over corruption following his intervention.

“I have ensured public land is not grabbed, I intervened in the cases of Buruburu Girls and Kamukunji high schools whose grabbed land has been returned,” he added.

Sonko condemned Wainaina for leasing Bowling Green Restaurant along Limuru road to a private company saying the decision was rushed while Kidero was new in office. He asked the governor to clean up the procurement process which he said is flawed.

Sonko pays 1M to get customised plate

Nairobi senator Mike ‘Sonko’ Mbuvi has forked out the stipulated Sh 1million to acquire the much-coveted personalised number plates. Apparently, he was “first to apply and be granted” the customised plates.

In 2013, it was gazetted that anyone willing and able to pay the ostentatious fee to acquire the plates can do so.

Sonko told Word Is, “I’m the first ever Kenyan to be issued with registered customised number plates at the Registrar of Motor Vehicles offices in Times Towers. The plates were handed over to me by the deputy registrar of motor vehicles, John Muya on Saturday after payment of a Sh1million fee to KRA, three weeks ago.”

This means other personalities like footballers Dennis Oliech and McDonald Mariga, athlete David Rudisha and rapper Prezzo will have to pay a cool Sh 1million for the luxury of customised number plates.

Others who qualify to get personalised numbers include matatus, cargo trucks, ambulance and funeral hearses, diplomatic vehicles, tractors and heavy machinery.

Sonko denies claims that he’s mentally unstable

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has denied rumours that he is suffering from a mental illness and is currently hospitalised.

Speaking to the Star on the phone, Sonko denied the recent social media reports saying that he is not in hospital but on an official Senate visit to Mandera county.

Sonko said that he and other leaders visited a quarry in Korome, 15 kilometres from Mandera town where 36 people were killed in December by al Shabaab militants.

The leaders also visited the scene of another terror attack in the county where 28 passengers of a bus hijacked by the terror group were murdered.

“First they spread rumours that I was dead, then they spread rumours that I am in Mathare hospital, now they are trying to create bad blood between myself and State House,” the Nairobi Senator said.

Asked why Senators are on an official meeting while the House is on recess, Sonko said that the leaders visited the site of the two massacres as a fact-finding mission. He also sent photos of himself while in Mandera.

“Those spreading the rumours are malicious people who are out to tarnish my name” he added.

Are you drunk? Have a wedding? Funeral? Dial Sonko

Nairobi residents too drunk to drive their cars will soon have their vehicles towed to their doorsteps by Senator Mike Sonko – for free.

Speaking to The Star, he said he has acquired five breakdown trucks because drunk driving is claiming too many lives.

“If you are drunk please don’t drive. Contact Sonko Rescue Team on 0789 111 999 and they will tow your car for free to your doorstep or a petrol station of your choice,” Sonko said.

His ambulances are available to rush people to hospitals and those who are planning to get married can use his top-of-the-line limousines for their weddings. Hearses are also available.

The senator is offering all these services for free.

Sonko wants to supply clean water to houses, collect garbage, respond to fire emergencies, and ferry the dead to any part of Kenya in the hearses.

He says the multimillion-shilling rescue team project has employed more than 2,000 youth. Sonko said it is being piloted and will be launched officially in two weeks.

“I am not doing this for any political mileage. I am fulfilling the Jubilee campaign manifesto to change the lives of Kenyans,” he told the Star.

Sonko denied that all these good deed are an effort to position himself for the Nairobi governor’s seat.

He said the free wedding limousine service has three H2 Hummers, four new S Class Mercedes-Benz and his personal “bling-plated Land Cruiser”.

Sonko said the six ambulances are donations from his friends in Belgium. He said they will provide free medical services and respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis. “In case of emergency that requires free ambulance and hearse services kindly call 0788 222 239 or 0718 083 333,”Sonko said.

The Kenya Red Cross, which has been providing emergency services, said they charge about Sh5,500 to take sick people to hospitals in Nairobi. Running a fully equipped ambulance with medical staff can cost in the millions.

However, critics have questioned Sonko for exceeding his senatorial mandate by providing services which the county government should provide. But Sonko says his critics will not dampen his spirit.

“Some are saying I am dealing in drugs and many bad things about me. But I am determined to continue,” he said.

“My bosses, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have never complained about my development initiatives. If they do, I will stop.”

Nkaissery orders stern action against Sonko’s security over misuse of firearms, sirens

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has ordered stern action against Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s bodyguards over the flushing of sirens to Lee Funeral Home to collect a body.

“The only vehicles legalized by the Kenyan Constitution to flush sirens in this country include that of the President, his Deputy, ambulances and fire engines. Senators, governors, cabinet secretaries and even diplomats are not allowed to use sirens at all,” Nakissery said.

He issued the directive to acting IG Samuel Arachi at a meeting with county and regional commissioners at the KICC on Tuesday.

Nkaissery said the bodyguards should also be penalised for handling their guns in a manner suggesting that they were displaying them to the public.

“Security officers especially bodyguards attached to politicians or VIPs are not supposed to expose their firearms to the public and those going contrary to this directive are violating the Security Act,” he added.

He said any other parties will only be allowed to use sirens and strobe lights under special circumstances.

People using unauthorised, personalised number plates face arrest

Police have been directed to arrest owners of vehicles with unauthorized personalized number plates. Transport secretary Michael Kamau says they are illegal and the use of these number plates compromises national security.

He said that anyone arrested will be fined not less than 500,000 shillings or face a jail term not exceeding five years or both.

Michael Kamau asked the public to notify NTSA if they spot anyone with these number plates. Among the Kenyans who have been spotted with personalized number plates are Nairobi senator Mike Sonko, footballer Dennis Oliech, Mcdonald Mariga and Nairobi women’s rep Racheal Shebesh.

Sonko offers Sh100,000 to nab those who stripped woman

Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has said he has also been victim of his flashy fashion choice. Sonko who is offering a Sh100,000 for the men shown in a video released early last week stripping a woman, said he knows how it feels to be discriminated just because of dress code.

Tweeting on Monday in support of a protest in the Nairobi CBD by men, women and rights’ activists against the assault, Sonko said “Watu wangu Kama mtu amevaa nguo isiyokupendeza, Funga macho Kama hutaki kuona” (My people, if someone has worn a piece of clothing that displeases you, close your eyes if you do not want to see it.)

“What would happen if we stripped everyone just because we don’t like what they are wearing? Then everyone would walk around nude,” Sonko added.

He called for the prosecution of the violators saying that stripping of someone’s clothing is uncivilised and against the constitution.

“I visited Miami some years back, ladies there dress in Bikinis only and i did not see anyone stripping them, why?” the Nairobi senator asked.

Sonko supports Gor Mahia

Through a post on his facebook page , Mike Sonko has posted details for the pledge he made for the Gor Mahia harambee . He also urged them to embrace non violent ways to help the growth of football in Kenya.

“I was privileged to once again support our Country’s soccer by attending Gor  Mahia’s  Fundraiser as one of the Chief guests.

I donated Kshs. 1, 200, 000 to assist the team in its endeavours and urged them to embrace non-violent ways in order to restore Our Soccer’s Lost Glory.

I also urged leaders to put aside their Political Differences and support this Country’s Immense Talent.

The fundraiser will be presided over by Governor Evans Kidero who urged the club’s well wishers to join him in boossting the club’s fortunes.

Man admits he is father in Sonko’s ‘son’ dispute

A Mombasa court stopped Tuesday’s planned DNA test for a six-year-old boy in a paternity case involving Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.

This is after Hudson Wachira, a clearing and forwarding agent, said he is the boy’s biological father. The boy’s mother Josephine Thuku says Sonko is the father.

Wachira said he has been demeaned and traumatised by a Kwale court order subjecting his son to a DNA test without his permission. “It is clear Thuku wants to deny me parental responsibility whereas she knows I am the biological father,” said Wachira.

The court Tuesday ordered Wachira to provide for the child until the parentage dispute is resolved. The case will be heard and cleared on November 14.

Paternity suit between Sonko and estranged wife set for October 29th

A paternity case involving Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and his estranged wife Josephine Thuku has been postponed until October 29th.

The case was adjourned on Wednesday as the Kwale resident magistrate was out on official duty.

The court was to make public and clarify if indeed Sonko is the biological father of Thuku’s second child.

Sonko had admitted to fathering her first child but disputed the paternity of the second one.

The court had however ordered him to continue paying school fees for the two children until DNA test are done.

Thuku wants the Senator ordered to pay Sh140,000 monthly for maintenance of the children’s.
