Motherhood Bliss: Check out photos of Serena Williams’ daughter Alexis

Tennis Player Serena Williams is celebrated world wide, but not many appreciate the role she plays as a mother and wife when she is away from the field.

She has earlier taken to her social media to address the issue of post natal depression, urging women to find a balance between their babies and their social life.

‘I couldn’t say NO’ Wilbroda opens up about her battle with alcohol

She wrote

“Last week was not easy for me. Not only was I accepting some tough personal stuff, but I just was in a funk. Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom.
I read several articles that said post-partum emotions can last up to 3 years if not dealt with. I like communication best. Talking things through with my mom, my sisters, my friends let me know that my feelings are totally normal.

It’s totally normal to feel like I’m not doing enough for my baby.”

She adds

“We have all been there. I work a lot, I train, and I’m trying to be the best athlete I can be.

However, that means although I have been with her every day of her life, I’m not around as much as I would like to be. Most of you moms deal with the same thing. Whether stay-at-home or working, finding that balance with kids is a true art. You are the true heroes.

I’m here to say: if you are having a rough day or week–it’s ok–I am, too!!! There’s always tomm!”

Serena Williams bares it all in ‘I Touch Myself Project’ to create awareness on breast cancer

Serena Williams has bared it all in a beautiful video with an aim of celebrating breast cancer survivors and sadly those who have lost their lives.

On her instagram post she tells in details as to why she has done this and it is mind blowing to know that she would go to such lengths without worrying about a backlash from the public.

She wrote,

“This Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit “I Touch Myself” to remind women to self-check regularly. Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.

The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honor of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first. The project is proudly supported by @BerleiAus for Breast Cancer Network Australia.”

‘I would rather lose, I don’t cheat!’ Serena Williams screams after game penalty in US Open

serena emotional after us open(1)

Naomi Osaka stormed to a sensational, turbulent US Open final win on Saturday night when she beat Serena Williams after the 36-year-old American totally lost her head in a dramatic championship match.

The trouble started when her coach was called for giving hand signals illegally in the first set, and then spiralled when she slammed her racket into the ground when broken back for 3-2 in the second, after which she was given a point penalty.

serena williams and naomi osaka

She repeatedly insulted the umpire, calling him a liar and a thief and demanding an apology. He duly docked her a game after the third code violation, leaving her at 3-5, from which she could not recover.

It detracted from a magnificent performance from the American-raised Japanese player, and made for an embarrassing trophy handover, at which Williams was described as a ‘role model’. Not in this particular case she wasn’t.

Ramos, a highly experienced official, had little alternative, given the abuse that was being thrown his way from Williams, who also angrily pointed her finger at him.

seran and naomi lifts trophy

‘I don’t cheat, I would rather lose,’ she had initially said, constantly demanding an apology and also remonstrating that she had a daughter as if that was relevant. The thief accusations started coming at 2-3 down in the second as she started riding the violation escalator in earnest.

Boos rang out around the stadium – most seemingly in sympathy with her – as she brought gender into the argument, now remonstrating with tournament Referee Brian Earley, who she summoned to the court.

‘You’ll never sit on a court with me as long as you live!’ was another threat to the umpire, who was only following long-established procedures.

Williams had herself broken for 3-1 in the second, firing herself up after Ramos spotted gesticulations from Patrick Mouratoglou.

He later embarrassed himself by blaming the umpire for wanting to get too involved, while his player embarked on a rant about sexism in her post-match press conference, despite admitting Ramos has been a ‘great umpire’ in her previous matches.

Serena Williams opens up on post-partum struggles and feeling like she’s not a ‘good mom’

Recently Serena Williams suffered the worst loss of her career after falling 6-1 6-0 to Britain’s Johanna Konta in the first round of the Silicon Valley Classic.

After a routine hold to start the match, Williams lost the next 12 games in a one-sided affair that lasted less than an hour stunning the crowd of 3,000.

It is understandable given that she has had a lot on her plate taking care of her daughter. She is also bouncing back from her maternity leave after going through a complicated delivery.

‘I had A Period While I Was Pregnant,’ Reveals Tennis Legend Serena Williams

Serena Williams says she had a period just before finding out she was seven weeks pregnant.

The tennis pro was competing in the Australian Open when a pregnancy test came up positive – a week before she went on to win the tournament.

In a new interview with InStyle, she insists she was as surprised as her fans, having not seen her now-husband Alexis Ohanian in a month – and she only took the pregnancy test to ‘shut up [her] friend’ who was suspicious.

‘I literally had a cycle just before. So I was surprised when I saw the result and even more surprised when the doctor said I was seven weeks along,’ she told the magazine.

Gynecologists have rushed to clarify that it is not possible to have a menstrual cycle while pregnant, because a period is the shedding of uterus lining that is not needed for pregnancy.

However, it is very common for women to experience vaginal bleeding that seems like a period, but is actually the result of something else.

In fact, female athletes are particularly at-risk for surprise pregnancies because regular heavy exercise has been shown to affect the regularity of ovulation.

Serena Williams vocalizes domestic violence conversation should expand to men-particularly young boys

Tennis superstar Serena Williams says the conversation about stopping domestic abuse shouldn’t just center around women but men as well.

According to Daily Mail,  she thinks that conversation should start with young boys.

‘I think expanding the conversation to men and expanding the conversation to young boys, it’s so important,’ she said at a launch event for a new initiative in new York on Wednesday.

SERENA

‘This is a human rights issue. We should all be treated the same. We should be treated equal. With domestic abuse, it doesn’t care what color you are, what background you’re from,’ Serena, 36, added.

‘It’s important to get the message out there – to our young men, to our boys, to our daughters – to let that new generation, and let the generation now know that, let’s stop this,’ she said. ‘Let’s change this. Let’s create a better us.’

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion is the ambassador for the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse initiative, which aims to help stop domestic abuse and what it calls the financial abuse that can accompany such relationships.

Serena, who is married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, gave birth to her first child – daughter Olympia – last September.

She said becoming a mother has made the issue of domestic violence more important to her.

‘This could be something that my daughter could face and that’s not cool,’ she explained.

‘I want her to know that she can always talk to me, and talk to other people. That maybe she doesn’t have a voice, maybe she can’t use her voice, but we can be her voice, we can support her in so many different ways,’ she said.

Williams returned to Grand Slam play last month at the French Open but had to withdraw after reaching the fourth round due to a pectoral chest injury. She anticipates being healthy for next month’s Wimbledon tournament.

‘Oh that’s a plan, absolutely, absolutely, and I’ve been working toward it,’ she said.

She also spoke about her father, Richard Williams, and his upcoming induction into the American Tennis Association’s Hall of Fame.

Williams coached Serena and her fellow champion sister, Venus, from when they were children until they were winning titles as adults.

‘That’s really wonderful and I know he is really excited about that and I am, too,” she said. “I was just with him yesterday and we talked about it. It was great.’

S,V AND DAD

Daily Mail

Serena Williams’s dad backed out of her wedding an hour to the ceremony

Serena Williams has earned her spot as one of the greatest athlete’s of all time thanks in large part to her adaptability on the court, where she managed to overcome unforeseen obstacles match after match.

That ability also serves her off the court as well it seems, and came in handy on her wedding day when she got what many brides would consider the worst possible news.

On the third episode of the HBO docuseries Being Serena, which airs on Wednesday night, viewers will get to see the moment that Serena received a text from her father Richard saying that he could not attend the wedding while in the midst of doing a photo shoot for Vogue.

serenawilliams10

She received that text just one hour before Richard was set to walk her down the aisle, and the image of her in wearing her stunning Alexander McQueen wedding dress was published by the magazine.

This of course is coming just as Serena heads to London where she will watch her friend Meghan Markle walk down the aisle, possibly going it alone as well just like the tennis great.

Alexandra Macon, who covered the wedding for Vogue, said on Wednesday that Serena never said anything about that text or her father’s absence – until now.

‘I can only imagine how all over the place her emotions must have been, but she radiated a sense of calm, even when things went wrong,’ Macon wrote in a post on Vogue.com ahead of the episode.

serenawilliamswedding6

‘Unbeknownst to me at the time, her father and longtime coach, Richard, texted her an hour before the wedding was supposed to start, saying that he didn’t feel comfortable walking her down the aisle.’

Serena sounded just as calm and collected about the disappointing news when retelling the story of what happened for her HBO series.

‘He was in New Orleans, he had a suit, and I know he was really excited,’ explained Serena.

‘But then he wrote me and said: “Serena, I don’t want you to be mad at me, but I just can’t walk you down the aisle. I’m not myself anymore. I’m just too nervous.”‘In that moment Serena did not get angry at her father or start feeling sad for herself, choosing instead to comfort the man.

‘Daddy, it’s okay, if you don’t want to come to the wedding at all, that’s okay too. I’m not going to be upset with you about it, so I don’t want you to be upset about it,’ responded Serena.

She then offered viewers a rare look inside her mind as she broke down her thought process in that moment

serenawilliamswedding1

‘Maybe a lot of daughters wouldn’t react the same way, but I know the struggles he’s had these last few years. His health is better now, but I know he still doesn’t feel like himself, doesn’t feel like he’s perfect,’ said Serena.

‘And if he doesn’t want to be up there in front of a lot of people, I completely understand. Look, when we first came on the scene, there were a lot of people who didn’t get him. I don’t think a lot of them wanted to get him. I don’t think a lot of him could have anyway.’

She then added: ‘Our family knows what we have. We just want each other to be happy. That’s what matters. I don’t think anything could ever change that.’

 serenawilliamswedding4

DailyMail.com noted at the time that Richard was nowhere to be seen at the wedding, and the fact that he was going through a contentious split from his wife at the time.

Just days after the wedding, Richard filed a cyber stalking/stalking violence protective order against Lakeisha Williams, his 38-year-old estranged wife.

Court papers obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com revealed Richard’s petition, filed in Palm Beach County, Florida, was submitted along with a second suit brought on by his son Chavoita Lesane, who also accused his stepmother of the same offense.

Richard, who introduced his daughters to tennis and still serves as part of their coaching staff, filed for separation  in June of last year, accusing Lakeisha of stealing his social security checks and forging his signature to transfer his property to her.

Serena’s calm and collected attitude could be a result of motherhood, which she spoke about with Vogue earlier this year.

She was quick to admit that being a mother had been a challenge for her, comparing it to her time on the court.

‘Sometimes I get really down and feel like, Man, I can’t do this. It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am,’ said Serena.

‘No one talks about the low moments – the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry.’

She then added: ‘I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane.’

In addition to Alexis, Serena is also getting help from her mom Oracene, who said she is concerned about her daughter’s work ethic.

‘She’s always been that way, ever since she was a little girl. She’s going to need to learn to slow down. She’s responsible for another life now,’ said Oracene, who is urging her daughter to be a strict parent.

‘You should see how they travel with that baby. They pack everything! It’s a bit extravagant for me. But once she’s back on the tour, she’ll find a balance.’

That baby will be living as normal a life as possible according to both parents.

‘She’s obviously going to have a very special life, but there are enough cautionary tales about kids who grow up in the spotlight,’ said her father.

‘How do you make your kid live in reality when your own reality is so . . . unreal? This kid is going to have more Instagram followers than me in about three weeks.’

Alexis OIympia currently has 332,000 followers on Instagram while her father has 306,000, but her Vogue cover should easily push baby ahead of father.

Serena Williams is a true definiton of a hard working woman because it was her dream to be the best tennis player in the world and she made it happen through putting in countless hours on the tennis court.

Through the Serena Williams Fund, she turned her focus on education and Kenya was part of her plans. Back in 2016, she opened a school in Makueni, but she is not stopping there.

Apart from that, she is now a mother to her beautiful daughter Alexis who she welcomed in September 2017, with her husband.

Would you buy for your sibling an expensive gift out of love?

Alexis may only be 4 months old but she’s already landed her first Vogue cover! She appeared on the February issue with her legendary mother.

“When I first saw this @voguemagazine cover it brought tears to my eyes. All Vogue covers are special but to share this one with my beautiful daughter @olympiaohanian also the youngest Vogue cover star makes it moment I will never forget. The article is a must read.”

Motherhood has helped Serena feel less pressure about her athletic performance as she told vogue,

“Sometimes I get really down, It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am. No one talks about the low moments — the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry. I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane.”

This can be the best thing a mother can say about her child. Children are a blessing to their parents.

Vogue Magazine shares exclusive pictures of Serena Williams gown for their fairy tale wedding

Tennis star Serena Williams walked down the aisle ot say ‘I Do’ to the love of her life Alexis Ohanian in a beauty and the beast themed wedding.

And now Serena Williams is giving fans a first hand look at her gown, courtesy of Vogue magazine.

Serena Williams‘ stunning wedding dress has finally been revealed in a series of photos taken during and after her Thursday-night ceremony with Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian.

Photos of the event taken exclusively by Vogue magazine show Williams looking radiant in the flowing, lacy white Alexander McQueen dress, which was crafted by head designer Sarah Burton.

Williams then swapped that for a shorter, though no less beautiful, Versace number for the first dance, which saw the newlywed couple dancing to ‘Tale As Old As Time’ – a tune in line with the wedding’s theme, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

And on Friday, the tennis star showcased the stamina that’s made her a 23-time Grand Slam Champ, partying for a second day straight.

Serena Williams shares precious photo of newborn daughter Alexis flexing her little arms

Serena Williams gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian two weeks ago.

And the newborn is already taking after her gold medal mother and her strong style.

On Friday, the tennis champ shared a photo of her newborn baby donning a sassy onesie that read ‘Smart and Strong like my mom’ along with the silly caption ‘Biceps.’

Alexis Olympia Ohanian was born on September 1, but got her Instagram introduction Wednesday on her supersport mom’s account.

The newborn, who was named after her father and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, appeared to be napping while her mom snapped a picture of her bending her little arms in what looked like an itty bitty bicep curl.

Alexis looks angelic as she rests her head on her hand as her mom cradles her under her arm.

Her parents topped off the photo with cute caption, writing ‘Thinking about mommy and daddy.’

Check out the cute photos…
