The past 2 years, Prezzo has been careful to keep his name out of the public spotlight for anything other than his music. The Prezzo of negative headlines is gone and has been replaced by someone who is careful about the image that he curates.
The man who calls himself El Presidente spoke to me in an exclusive and wide-ranging interview.
The rapper revealed that 2019 had been a good year for him and that he had been pushing upwards. He also said that he would be releasing new music this month.
He said that the music he was doing now had to reflect his growth and age unlike what he was doing back in the days.
‘As one of the older generation, what you utter from your mouth really counts so before Prezzo was reckless but right now the society will look at you differently.’ the rapper said.
The singer has said that the legacy he wants to leave was the impact he had in every facet of his life. He said,
I have to leave a mark behind that Prezzo was that guy. My milestones have so much to speak about. The whole industry and Big Brother that I left a mark there. There is also a project in Kibera (where he is building homes for the less fortunate). There is nothing you can do bigger like giving someone shelter.
I asked the rapper whether his projects in Kibera reflected any political ambitions he might harbour? He answered coyly saying,
I am just playing my role. Be mindful that all the projects I am doing are without CDF money. This is my own money. Now imagine if there was CDF money, what kind of place it would be?
Her disclosure was accompanied by a baby shower for her and Lulu duly thanked all those people who had supported her ‘I am an expectant mother and would love to take this opportunity to thank everyone who played a part in my baby shower. Thank you all for your love and support. Without you, it would not have been possible.” Lulu wrote on IG.
She tersely told one commenter that the father of her unborn child was the Holy Spirit. In a later post, Amber clarified that the father of her unborn baby wasn’t legendary music producer P Funk Majani’s baby.
”I want it to be clear to everyone that Majani is not the father of my unborn baby. He is a person I respect and we have been working together for a very long time now. These rumours have brought problems to me, the same applies to his side because he has a wife and kids,” Amber wrote.
Her pregnancy is a fulfillment of something that Amber had desired to have with Prezzo when they were dating a few years ago but that wouldn’t happen as their relationship wouldn’t go the distance.
Amber said the reason she broke up with Prezzo is that he was “a womaniser” and did not really love her.
Popular musician Prezzo will go down as one of the most acclaimed rappers of his generation. The man who came onto the scene in the early-2000’s as the bling-king has kept himself relevant not only with his music but his antics away from the mike.
The man recently did an interview with CTA and had some crazy confessions to make about his past that shocked many. Part of that interview is in the article below;
The interview delved into many topics and one of those was his relationship with singer Sheila Mwanyigah alias Nikki. The rapper who rarely goes beyond the surface level about his past relationships spoke highly of the curvaceous presenter.
During the interview, Prezzo noted a particular incident where Sheila came through after the rapper had been detained by the police at Parklands Police Station after he got into trouble at Sarit Centre.
The “Let’s get down” rapper explained that when the OCS came, things turned south for him and he was put in a cell which they referred to as statehouse. “When the OCS came on Sunday morning, I went to talk to him and he told me that he does not talk to criminals. I was then sent into a cell and you know at Parklands Police Station there are two cells one is called statehouse and the usual one, I was locked up in statehouse cell,” he said.
In his attempts to get help, the Big Brother Africa finalist tried calling his uncle for help who was not forthcoming. That is when the rapper called Mwanyigha who became the friend who helped him in his need.
“Nikki men! The last person that you expect to pull up for you is the person who pulls up for you. Nikki came. She came with two juices and she got an apple and an orange,” he said.
The rapper added that the Sheila contacted her mom who was the head of Parklands Police Station to get him out and ensured that there were no criminal records for him.
“Believe it or not, she is the one who took care of it. She went and talked to her mom and told her she had to get me out. This is the last person I expected to come through for me. For that, I will forever be grateful to her. She made sure I was okay and I did not have any criminal record and I got my firearm back,” he added.
Sheila Mwanyigha and Prezzo were once the “IT” couple in town-That is if you believe the rumours surrounding the pair who had done a highly-successful song together.
Since then, the two have been linked to each other even though in all their interviews they still speak of each other as friends.
Just last month, Prezzo confessed that Sheila had left an indelible mark on him after she helped him during a tight spot after he had been jailed over a decade ago.
“Believe it or not, she (Sheila) is the one who took care of it. She went and talked to her mom and told her she had to get me out. This is the last person I expected to come through for me. For that, I will forever be grateful to her. She made sure I was okay and I did not have any criminal record and I got my firearm back,” he added.
With that interview in mind, I asked the former radio presenter whether she had such memories of her old friend. Sheila who has had a successful music career was a bit coy at first but noted that a celeb was hard and that one needed good friends.
When I asked whether the two were friends, Sheila was a bit vague saying, “We aren’t enemies, who said that we are enemies.”
Prezzo is one of the most fascinating of the celebrities that we have in Kenya. The man has lived a life that could (and should) be turned into a miniseries or movie.
The highs and lows that Jackson Makini has gone through are not only shocking to read but they are also mind-blowing: Like his near-death escape at the hands of some gangstas who nearly blew his head off to his stint with the infamous vigilante’ group Mungiki.
Or the fact that he couldn’t leave his house for more than one year because he was suffering from depression. If it is an out of this world experience? Prezzo has most likely gone through it.
These incidents might paint a picture of a man whose wanderlust and fame came at a big price but they just touch on the surface of a more complex individual who has more layers than an onion.
One thing that all the incidents in his life show us that the rapper is as resilient/awe-inspiring as Chinese Bamboo and has come back from all of them stronger and better.
The trials have not broken him but made him stronger. Why the long intro? That was all to surmise the cause of his awesome resilience. Behind every awesome son lies a mother who didn’t give up on him ( I am proof)
The woman who has guided him since his father passed away when he was still in a young boy. This week he celebrated probably the most influential person in his life with a short, succinct message on her 60th birthday with a touching and loving message. It read; “Happy 60th birthday Malaika Mama God bless you abundantly. Love u always 💕”
From us here at Classic105, happy birthday mama Makini!
One of the most fascinating insights he gave was an incident where he almost died. The rapper described the scene where he had been surrounded by a group of men.
In trying to negotiate with them, he had tried to give them his costly jewelry so that they could leave him alone.
“I had already removed my jewelry and I told them it cost Sh 3 million. That phone is worth $5000 and I tried to tell them because I am trying to get myself out of the situation,” Prezzo narrated.
“This guy just turned around and he blasted me. I don’t know if you can see it(pointing at the top of his scalp). He blasted me here but God wasn’t done with me yet. Because there is no way you can miss a shot at that close range. You know when you shoot there is a kick and so that kick cut my skin…so my skin was open,” he added.
This story adds to the interesting and captivating life that the rapper has lived so far. During the same interview, the rapper revealed how he had once been a member of the infamous vigilante group, Mungiki as as Youth leader;
“So after one year I received a call from a brother called Andrew Nyanja, saying Chairman would like to meet you, Maina Njenga would like to me you. I asked why and the Guy said just Come to Karen. So he wanted a meeting with me. I was asking myself so many questions…I was like what is it that the chairman wants to talk to me about.”
The rapper explained;
“So we went to Karen and Maina Njenga had this movement and he needed me to be like Youth leader of the Mungikis and who am I to say No. So he gave me responsibilities and I was in the whole Nine years. And just right after our first meeting we went to Limuru and the cops were aware that we were coming and they teargassed Us. And the end of the day they arrested Chairman. So the dust settled and we still used to link up with Chairman. He had different houses in this Town.”
The musician was speaking to CTA’s Richard Njau and revealed that during his wedding with Daisy (Mama Zari) in 2008, he had tough choices to make because his then-wife loved Nge’chu but hated Prezzo.
“At around 2008, just after that song happened, is when I ended up being married to Mama Zari. So after tupendane, next was all the Mama Zari vibe. And Mama Zari loved Ng’echu but she hated Prezzo. So I was living in a penthouse by that time, it was on Likoni lane. We had Star-studded, A 1 wedding. I did not minimize on the budget. So we get married and moved from the Penthouse into a mansion because I wanted to satisfy my wife at that time, with the finer things in life, with no budget being held back or anything. So we got a house that had six bedrooms and it was just the three of us (Myself, my daughter and Mama Zari) and two house helps,” said Prezzo.
The rapper explained that marriage was tougher than he expected as he had to choose music over his wife and moved out but his life started moving downhill, as he slowly fell into depression.
“At that time Daisy Mama Zari, loved Ng’echu but she hated Prezzo and she wanted me to stop doing music and probably be an accountant or a teacher somewhere, a carpenter…anything but not music. And I was like I spent so much time building this brand and I’m not gonna just leave it like that. So from that point onwards, I left them with that Mansion that I was living in and I took another penthouse. So for also most a year, I lost myself. For one year, I used to have my bodyguard bringing me food, bringing me whatever I need in the house, I never left the house for a whole year. I was like I was in a house arrest and slowly getting into depression,” says Prezzo.
Musician Jackson Makini alias Prezzo has an interesting take on how the world is at the moment. The rapper posited humanity is being punished by God at the moment for it’s sins.
In a post seen by Classic105, the rapper claimed that God is angry with human beings for constantly sinning without repenting.
Prezzo mentioned that one of the things that seems to have angered God the most is the act of people endorsing same sex marriage, when in the beginning He created only Adam and Eve. His controversial post is below:
“God is punishing us. Its never too late because our God is a living & forgiving God. Lets do right by him. Have mercy on us & forgive us through it all 🤲,” said Prezzo.
His followers were almost unanimous in their support for his opinion and even chimed in with their own thoughts. Some of those comments are below:

His post comes at a time when the world is being ravaged by covid-19. Yesterday, Kenya recorded its first covid-19 death, after a 66-year-old man died while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital.
The entertainer was with her friend and former co-host Anne Mwaura as they were playing a Truth and Drink game as they responded to questions asked by their fans.
Anita was up to the task and responded to the question without any fear, stating her preference for Namba Nane aka Octopizzo.
She, however, admitted that growing up she liked Prezzo but got to a point where she wasn’t his fan anymore, as she insisted that if they were the only two men remaining, she would still choose Octopizzo.
“Wow! This is such an obvious one. It’s definitely Octopizzo. I am sorry I have nothing against Prezzo but there is no way on earth… It’s Octopizzo. We grew up with Prezzo but at some point, I wasn’t a fan anymore and if it really does come down to the two of them, Apocalypse, I’ll be like Octopizzo,” said Anita Nderu.
Anita has been through a lot over the years, with 2018 being one of her darkest with the spectre of depression haunting her for close to 5 months that year.
So it’s good to see Anita in a good place in her life, even discussing the man she would rather want to sleep with. That is progress. Good for her.
The recent news that McDonald Mariga and Prezzo were interested in joining politics divided a lot of Kenyans. Some felt that there should be a clear delineation between politics and entertainment.
This led me to set up a poll to find out just what the Kenyan people think? (uh…Classic105 audience). The results were overwhelmingly against the notion with most Kenyans saying that the entertainers should stay away from politics.
The result of the poll is below;
Some of the comments from those who voted are below;
Duncan Mugah Nyosunga They should go to hell, where were they before the death robe ken okoth?
We don’t need need politics sympathy N.Kiron they lack professionalism, their passion is in the music industry, politics to them is trial and error. Agane Abdullahi Ahmed We need to be entertained . Prezzo is one of the most accomplished of musicians that we have in Kenya. Over the years, his antics mainly with his women have caught the attention of many.
His biggest complaint about the women he has dated is that they try to change him.
‘I love my mother, the problem is when I meet someone, they tend to act like they know me better and they know my whole life but as time goes by because I have so many fans out there, so after sometimes they want to change you and control how you handle your fans.’
Being a playboy came with the territory. It’s not a bad thing. As with the presidency out there, no woman wants to be number two, they wanna be with the main guy.
Would he get married again? ‘One thing I have come to learn about this world, never says never. You never know what the future holds for you and you end up finding that one person who wins your love. I believe in love because I love myself,’ the rapper said.
Prezzo also felt like he is a catch and said as much explaining, ‘If someone was to stick with me, am actually a nice guy especially to women and will do anything for a woman, but once I start sensing like there is insecurity, it pushes me away, the only person who could have done that was my mother but she just let me be.’
The entertainer also revealed that he always gets blamed for the end of his relationships, ‘If you look at my love life when things go bad, people(the woman he is dating) start looking for sympathy saying,
“ooh he used to drink so much, he used to do this and this”. If that was the case then it(the relationship) wouldn’t have lasted even that long of a period,’ he ponders.
He, however, confessed that he always does post-mortems of his relationship and so far he believes he hasn’t caused the demise of any of his relationships,
‘Many a time, am in a relationship, and it fails, I go back to my thoughts and ask myself if I am the one who was wrong, and so far I am not. I stand to be corrected.’
The singer said that his daughter was fine and that he still has a close relationship with her. The reason we don’t see a lot more of her anymore is that he made a conscious decision to keep her away from social media.
One of the most important things that Jackson has taught his daughter is how she should carry herself.
‘My daughter is to have respect and be outspoken like when she doesn’t like something, she should make sure she gets a respectful way of objecting,’ he said.
He also added that he encouraged her to be outspoken to help build her confidence later on in life.
He concluded by revealing the impact been a father had on his character, saying,
‘Prezzo was at time reckless but nowadays, I lay low because of my daughter. I am even cutting out drinking alcohol. I take a glass of wine maybe during dinner and am good. Patience has also improved and the way you put yourself out there.’
Noti Flow and Prezzo have been rumoured to be in a relationship for a while now, and the rumours kept swirling after they released a song together called Tupendane.
Well, from the look of things, it’s not a rumour no more as Noti recently shared a screenshot of their conversation when Prezzo went to Tanzania for business.
But that’s not what many think as it is claimed that he went to Tanzania to meet up with Amber Lulu, who has been rumoured to be eyeing Prezzo.
Noti Flow is not having all that talk, as she has come blazing hot to shut down the rumours.
Speaking to Pulse, she made it clear that Prezzo went to Tanzania to record collabos while shouting that women should keep off her man.
“You are talking about that bi*** calling herself Amber Rose. Who even calls herself Amber Rose when we all know that there can only be one Amber Rose. The truth is that Prezzo was not in Tanzania to see her but to record collabos with the likes of Fid Q and other hip hop guys. Besides, I know b****s keep on chasing him the way nig*** chase me and so I wouldn’t be shocked if she hits back and claims he was with her. Thing is, girls…bi****s should keep off my man as they know where his heart is,” she told Pulse.
When asked what makes her so sure that his heart is with her she said, “Because we have been together for a while and I understand how he thinks.”
She further explained that she is not declaring Prezzo as hers because all men are players and a man has to live his life.
“It is not like am trying to declare a territory because, hey, a man has to live his life. All nig**s are players and so I take a day at a time. I have been approaching this thing with precaution as sometimes what I hear is different from what he says. I told you (Pulse) some days ago that I am not looking for a mama’s boy but a king,” she stated.
Noti Flow was in a relationship with Colonel Mustafa, but later on called it quits after revealing that Mustafa was being kept by a sugar mummy and she found it gross for him to sleep with the mama and then sleep with her.
Kenyan rapper Prezzo is said to be broke after he failed to afford the studio fees of top recording studios in Tanzania. According to The Reverend’s column on the Star Newspaper, the rapper was even offered a 75% discount but it was too high for his pocket.
It is said that he walked from studio to studio looking for a cheaper offer.
A source whispered to the Reverend that he gave out all his accessories to be allowed to record at a Tanzanian based record label
“Braza, huyo msanii alitupea hizo bling bling zaka kwa sababu hakua na hela. Jameni, hatuwezi msaidia. Tulidhani yeye ni big deal huko Kenya, salala kumbe hana chochote!”
Prezzo spoke to Kiss Fm website exclusively on the said matter. He rubbished the allegations and added that he instead bought more jewellery while over there.
“Thats not true. I can even give you my video director’s number. They can confirm that I went there and bought even more jewellery. I came back with more and not less jewellery. I had my own stylist and I had everything intact. As a matter of fact with three people, we flew there, we didn’t even drive.”
The My City My Town hitmaker further says he is not using drugs and for him to fly out his crew to Tanzania means he is financially fit.
“All these allegations gives people a rush when they point fingers at me. They will say Prezzo does drugs but then I’ve never been to rehab even ones in my lifetime. All these allegations are formulated out of jealousy. For me to travel with my crew already goes to show we are financially fit. If I wouldn’t be, then I wouldn’t be able to accommodate two other people with me.”
He went ahead to say he will not reveal the price of the jewellery he bought while in Tanzania because that is like an investment for him
“I cease to reveal such information. My jewellery speaks for itself. Ever since 2003 I’ve been wearing jewelery, I love them and its been like an investment.”
Despite him being a bully and killing us with his swag, Prezzo was born at Pumwani Hospital and raised in Eastleigh, Muyuyu section one until he turned ten.
During an interview on Talk Central, the king of blings remembered the life of being brought up in Eastleigh because it taught him the street life and its the kind of place even at ten or eleven at night is as good as day time and guys are up and about.
Being brought up by a single mother, Prezzo describes his mother as the love of his life because she has been there for him ever since his father passed away and this is what caused the close bond between mother and son.
Whatever he needed, his mother would do everything to make sure he has it to avoid him going on a hunger strike. He later realized how his mother was struggling to make sure he attends school and to make sure she gives him what he wanted. His father passed after being with and his mother had a debt to pay at Nairobi Hospital.
In the beginning of his career in music, his mother was so affected with all the negativity about her son and he decided to sit down with his mother and explain to her that he is a public figure and such things are bound to happen and she should try and adopt to them.
He further said, “I have no regrets for some of the things I have seen written about me reason being whatever it is that you go through being good or bad is for a reason. I don’t believe in coincidence. There is no such thing in this world like coincidence. Its God’s grace.”
Prezzo added that his past women became famous when they were with him and he still talks to some of them. “I talk to Huddah because she is cool and we go way back. I know she go my back. Vera once in a while. The rest of them, No.”
Speaking about his marriage to Daisy Kiplagat, he said, “Marriage life was good and the best part of it is that I got a beautiful baby girl out of it. Daisy loved Jackson Ngechu Makini and she hated Prezzo. I spent so much time into building Prezzo brand and I could not drop it. I have never used drugs in my life.”
Prezzo and Michelle have been making news this week after Yola took to social media to blast Prezzo for threatening her and telling him off.
She said in part, “Jackson Ngechu, listen very carefully. Don’t let that smile fool you because I have phone recordings and messages to prove every single word you said to me! I have been quiet for so long and if I start to talk, Lord knows! I hate it that I’m even addressing you but enough is enough!”
Well Prezzo has come out to address the issue, stating that he wants to set the record straight and distance himself from this whole issue.
He said, “The common saying “it’s never too late” is a misleading one for many since there are times when it is in fact too late. Sometimes, it is too late to change who you are, too late to do the right thing in telling the truth. I have decided to address this issue about me “allegedly” posing a threat to Michelle’s safety for the sake of clarity and because I want to distance myself from whatever games or plans she has.”
He continued, “It is quite a sad thing to see an individual tell lies to have power over the masses so that she can control circumstances and dictate events. To brainwash the masses with your selfish agenda by feeding them lies and harnessing the outcome for yourself is a mean thing to do. Misinforming the masses to believe in ur mythical notions that are conveniently and selfishly crafted in your own imagination might give you temporary comfort…. but genuine permanent inner peace and happiness ONLY stems from knowing that the truth is factual, pure and uncompromised. Instead of going to vote so we can bring change in this beautiful nation, someone is out there talking gibberish SMH.”
Prezzo and Michelle Yola have been trending of late after Yola took to social media to tell Prezzo to stop calling and contacting her because she’s over him and she’s moved on.
She has since been flaunting her new bae, a German national, on social media.
A while back Prezzo and Yola got tattoos of each other’s name as a sign of love, and just like lovers do they flaunted it all over social media. But after their breakup, Michelle went ahead and covered up Prezzo’s tattoo.
Prezzo on the other was not about that life. When asked if he’ll get rid of Yola’s tattoo he said, “The tattoo stays because you have to understand that when I was getting this tattoo she was a very big part of my life.We dated for like two and a half years and the problems that I came across she was the only one there for me. Me saying I’m gonna remove the tattoo because she has another man is petty and immature.”
Well it seems Prezzo isn’t living up to his words as he has since shared a photo on social media of new ink. He went ahead and covered Yola’s tattoo with art of Nairobi city. He didn’t say much about it other than, “My City My Town, The Heart Of The City Going Everywhere With Me.”
