Ladies, Taking Fish Oil During Pregnancy May Reduce a Child’s Risk Of Diabetes By Doing This

Taking fish oil during pregnancy may reduce a child’s risk of diabetes, new research suggests.

Giving overweight pregnant rats fresh fish oil improves their offspring’s response to insulin, a study found.

Previous research has demonstrated insulin sensitivity is protective against diabetes.

Dr Ben Albert from the University of Auckland, said: ‘This is exciting because it raises the question: if overweight women take fresh fish oil in pregnancy, will it lower the risk of their children later developing diabetes?’

Yet, researchers advise women eat more oily fish rather than taking fish oil as some supplements are of dubious quality.

Key Findings

Researchers from the University of Auckland fed pregnant rats a high-fat or standard diet.

Half of the rats fed both types of diets were also given fresh fish oil.

Results revealed that among those fed the high-fat diet, fish oil improved the rats’ offsprings’ insulin sensitivity.

Previous research has demonstrated insulin sensitivity is protective against diabetes.

Dr Albert said: ‘This is exciting because it raises the question: if overweight women take fresh fish oil in pregnancy, will it lower the risk of their children later developing diabetes?’

‘Eat Oily Fish’

The researchers will conduct a study later this year to determine if fish oil has similar diabetes-protective effects in overweight pregnant women.

At this time, they do not recommend pregnant women take fish oil as previous research suggests such supplements can have detrimental effects if they are out of date.

When the researchers fed ‘off’ fish oil to pregnant rats, 30 percent of the pups died within two days – eight times the rate of the control group.

Study author Professor Wayne Cutfield said: ‘At this stage we do not recommend that pregnant women take fish oil for their babies’ health for two reasons.

‘First, our findings need confirmation in human studies. Second, you can’t know if the supplements you buy are fresh or not and we don’t yet know the safe level of oxidisation for fish oil in pregnancy.

‘Our advice would be, if you want more omega 3 fats, eat oily fish.’

OUCH! Pregnant Women Reveal The WORST And Inappropriate Things Their PARTNERS Have Said, Some Of Them Will Make Your Blood Boil

A lot of men are loving, kind and supportive as their partners go through nine months of pregnancy and their bodies undergo big changes.

Others, it seems, don’t have the same patience and can be unsympathetic towards the future mothers-to-be – and their fluctuating hormones.

One woman took to Reddit’s BabyBump forum this week and declared her husband ‘the king’ of saying inappropriate things – such as ‘Millions of women have had babies before you and all of them turned out okay!’

Jokingly, she asked if any other women had experienced similar moments with their partners, and the stories flooded in.

Some men have wondered why their partner was making ‘such a big deal’ over childbirth, while another told their partner that she shouldn’t have ‘opened her legs’ – and one went so far as to suggest his pregnant other half could be more supportive of his needs.

One woman claims her husband is ‘the king’ of saying things he shouldn’t to a pregnant woman. She took to Reddit to ask fellow mothers to share their tales of parental woe.

Cruel! 5-Months Pregnant Woman Detained At Langata Hospital Suffers MISCARRIAGE After Being Hit In The Stomach By Her POLICE Husband

A 28 years-old-woman who was detained for two days at Langata hospital without food and water wants human rights organizations to help her get justice after she suffered a miscarriage.

Annastacia Muthoni who had gone to the hospital on Tuesday to seek treatment after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband lost her pregnancy on Thursday night, only hours after the hospital discharged her.

Muthoni claimed that her husband, police constable Lawrence Kazungu colluded with the hospital to have her detained at the hospital and have her locked in a room for two days.

‘My Wife Has Been a Living Lie,’ Says Man Who Brutally Stabbed His Eight Months Pregnant Wife To Death

She was discharged after she reached out to journalists who contacted the hospital and publicized her story. She complained that she was weak from starvation and in pain from her assault.

Muthoni said Kazungu assaulted her on Monday following a disagreement that ensued when she asked him for money to attend the prenatal clinic.

She said Kazungu attacked her and hit her with a stool, disregarding the fact that she was five months pregnant.

When she reported the matter to Langata police station, the OCS volunteered to take her to Langata hospital and even pledged to foot her bill but disappeared soon after dropping her off at the institution.

She said after the issue leaked to the media, the OCS rushed to the hospital where a meeting was held between her, the police and the hospital’s management before she was discharged.

“They came to the room that they were keeping me and asked me why I was soiling the image of the hospital,” Muthoni said.

She noted that the Sh. 12,000 charges that she had accrued at the hospital were also waived. The OCS, she added, further gave her Sh. 2,000 for her transport.

But when she got home, the pain became unbearable and a neighbor rushed her to St. Mary’s hospital where she was admitted before she suffered the miscarriage.

The hospital, however, denied having detained her saying she was treated as an emergency case and discharged but could not explain why she stayed in the facility for two days.

She said she told medics at the hospital that she had been kicked in her stomach and was in pain but they disregarded her pleas for treatment.

“I had not experienced any issues with my pregnancy previously and I know the miscarriage was as a result of the assault,” she added.

She pleaded with human rights organizations to take up her case and help her get justice for her baby.

She said she is unemployed and unable to seek legal redress from her husband and the hospital.

Ladies, Here Is What To Do If You Get Pregnant By A Cheating Boyfriend!

What do you do when you find out you are pregnant and your boyfriend has been cheating on you like the distressed reader below? Well, here’s the advice relationship expert Valentine gave her.

I am 30 years old and just found out that I am 6 weeks pregnant! I found out my boyfriend has another girlfriend and we broke up two weeks ago. He is always telling me that he needs me to have a son for him. I have not told him that I am pregnant. What should I do?

‘You must feel so vulnerable, so hurt, so unsure and scared. It is a lot to deal with so how about we unpack the situation? First, you are pregnant. Second you are going through a break-up. Third, he is a cheating boyfriend and you don’t trust him. Fourth he says that he wants to have a child with you.

I think we start by asking ‘do you want to have his child?’ It is ok if you are unsure, that is perfectly fine. Pregnancy is long and you can tell him about it when and if you are ready. Remember that once you tell him, you will have to consider his feelings because he is the father. Take your time.

Now for the break-up. Your pregnancy is now coloured with heartbreak, and because you are growing a life, you have all manner of intense and hormonally charged emotions. You have to treat yourself very delicately.

Eat well, rest and try to exercise a few times a week. Expect to cry and be emotional and don’t be too harsh on yourself. Many of us have brought children into the world and into unstable relationships. The emotional stuff will pass and you will have a beautiful baby who will bring so much joy, love, and deliciousness into your life.

If you do decide to bring your boyfriend into your life and that of your child, I suggest that you do it slowly and do not be too quick to trust him. He said that he wants you to have his child and he might mean it, but people say many things that they do not mean. Parenting might sound good at the moment but some might find that the demanding nature of parenting is something that they cannot bear.

If you want your boyfriend in the life of your baby, you have to be prepared to clearly state to your boyfriend how you would want that to work out, that is, child support, visitation, and what his role will be in your life. Be clear and be firm.

In short, I am saying congratulations mummy. Your child will bring you many, many gifts, but you should be prepared to be a single mother. The heartache will pass, and I guarantee that regardless of what happens, it will all work out at the end of it all.’

Terminating Pregnancy

“ Nakuomba Nereah usioe mimba yangu, Mungu akileta mtoto analeta sahani yake, mlete nitamlea, usitoe mimba yangu, Mungu akileta mtoto analeta sahani yake,” are the lyrics to Sauti Sol’s brand new song ‘Nerea’ featuring Amos and Josh.

The songs has elicited mixed reactions especially from women. In our morning conversation with Larry Asego he asked the women, “how credible is a man who tells you that you shouldn’t terminate a pregnancy he will raise the child?”

Statistics show that 450,000 pregnancies are terminated each year. How many men stay put after a woman tells him they are pregnant.

According to some of our women callers, matters abortion are not as easy as ‘Nerea’ is trying to make it seem. Men will always promise to take care of the unborn child and when the child comes they are not in the picture.

Another caller says that women should give men a choice if an abortion is concerned. “What if the man is willing to raise the child and you go behind his back and get the pregnancy terminated?” says one man.

Pastor arrested for his wife’s murder

A pregnant British pastor was found dead in a hotel bathroom in Ghana – and her Christian leader husband has reportedly been arrested for murder.

Charmaine Adusah, 41, and her husband Eric Isaiah Adusah, 28, the head pastor at the Tottenham, north London, branch of Global Light Revival Ministries, had attended a church programme in the West African nation’s city of Koforidua.

According to the Daily Guide Ghana report, the couple had a disagreement about how long they should stay in Ghana – Charmaine wanted to spend a month there, while her husband argued that was far too long.

The couple checked into the Royal Mac Dic Hotel five days, according to police.

The next day, Adusah claimed he had other engagements back in the UK and left the hotel at the dawn.

He reportedly told the front desk that his wife, originally from Arbroath in Scotland, did not want to be disturbed and staff should only respond to her if she requested something.

After three days hotel staff became worried and used a spare key to get in the room.

There they found the three months pregnant woman, allegedly in the bathtub, who was described as lying prostrate with a white towel wrapped around her, almost in a decomposed state.

It was claimed Adusah was arrested on suspicion of murder, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Woman miscarries after police officer kicked her belly over arrest in Mbita

A woman who was six months pregnant miscarried after a police officer allegedly kicked her in the belly. Hilder Sigunyu, 21, said an officer from Mbita police station kicked her while forcing her into a van.

Sigunyu said the incident occurred amid the arrest of several women for washing clothes on the shores of Lake Victoria on Sunday.

“One of the police officers kicked my belly when I was delayed from getting into their vehicle. I could not enter immediately because of my pregnancy,” she said.

Speaking to journalists in Mbita on Thursday, Sigunyu said she suffered abdominal injuries and was rushed to Mbita District Hospital.

She said tests revealed that the foetus had died. “I was later operated on because there was no other option. I lost my unborn baby that way,” she said.

When contacted on Thursday, area OCPD Wilson Wanga said he had not received reports of the incident. He however said that the matter would be investigated and the culprit brought to book.

Baby survives after being born in a train and falling on the tracks

A newborn baby boy survived after falling onto train tracks moments after his mother gave birth to him in a toilet cubicle.

His mother, 22-year-old Manu,  has gone to the toilet when she began experiencing labour pains on the train.

She fainted soon after giving birth – while her son fell through the toilet chute and on to the tracks.

The baby was later rescued by a guard after he was heard crying .

Manu was taken to  hospital once the train reached its destination and was later reunited with her son, BBC Hindi reported.

The hospital’s chief medical officer, Dr SP Rohilla, confirmed that both mother and baby were doing well.

The baby had no serious injuries but, according to the hospital’s neo-natal care unit, was underweight at 2kg (4.4lb).

It is not the first time an incident of this kind has been reported on board Indian trains, which have toilets with holes opening directly onto the tracks.

Baby girl gives “birth” to twins

A baby girl with a rare, mysterious medical condition was found to be ‘pregnant’ with twins when born.

The girl, born to Chinese mainland parents in Queen Elizabeth Hospital Hong Kong, had to undergo surgery at just three weeks old to remove them.

The foetuses, 8 to 10 weeks gestated, had legs, arms, a spine, rib cage and intestines.

Both were also covered in skin one weighed 14.2 grammes and the other 9.3 grammes – and each had an umbilical cord.

The surgery was successful and the girl was discharged from hospital eight days later.

The condition, known as foetus in fetu occurs in just one in 500,000 births in the world and less than 200 cases have ever been reported.

Doctors are yet to fully understand what causes the condition.
