Esther Passaris’ Louis Vuitton bag causes furor in parliament

During one of the parliamentary sessions, the leader of the majority raised an alarm about the bag Hon. Passaris had carried.

It was not appropriate according to him.

Tokeo la picha la passaris bag in parliament

This, however, left the other members of parliament wondering whether the issue was the bag or Passaris. Hon. Passaris gave an explanation of why she had the Louis Vuitton bag.

‘Mr. Speaker, I wonder why the leader of the majority is observant with everything that I do. From my thermos and now my bag. It is actually a medical order from my doctor that I should balance my weight at my back that is why I have carried a backpack. I have actually gone through the sergeant at arm and they have verified what am carrying.’

This explanation was seen to be genuine hence she was allowed to carry on with the session.

Congratulations : Check out photos of Anerlisa Muigai in her “ruracio” ceremony!

Citizens, on the other hand, were left with many unanswered questions.

The members of parliament are busy discussing these issues while there are much more important things that need attention? That is why we will never move.

So this is actually what the people we elected sit to do in parliament while we are busy suffering out here?

The worst part is that the Speaker is actually sited there listening and entertaining such kind of talks.

Those were some of the comments from the disappointed citizens. They felt that there were much more issues to discuss than just an ordinary bag.

My people want me to lead, I may join the game if all the factors allow me – Smart Joker

Famous Churchill Show comedian Micheal Akala Omuka ‘Smart Joker’ has revealed that he may join politics in order to fight for the welfare of his people.

Speaking to the Star on Saturday at Mirema school in Roysambu constituency, Omuka said that he was ready to join politics and represent his people.

“My people want me to lead. I may join the game if all the factors allow me. Leadership is key in our lives,” he said.

The celebrity has launched a number of talent promotion groups in Kakamega county aimed at uplifting the lives of the youth and eradicating drug abuse.

“Currently, I am trying to prevent the youth to avoid using bhang which is harmful to the youth,” Omuka said.

However, the comedian did not specify the type of seat he will be going for in 2022 saying it was too early to reveal the position.

“I can go for any seat, even the one you can not imagine. I can even go for a top seat in heaven but here in Kenya, time will tell…you never know,” he said.

‘My boyfriend has asked me to never discuss politics with him,’ explodes angry woman

Politics is regarded as a dirty game and not many like to engage in it.

A young woman, who loves politics and is majoring in Political Science is afraid that she may end up being single the rest of her life.

She says her boyfriend gets angry anytime she talks about politics. The young lady wrote to a relationship expert DearWendy seeking advice.

Below is what she wrote:

“I’m a college student in the South (think Deep South) and I met a guy about two months ago through a mutual friend. “Eric” is also a college student here in the South but at a neighboring university. We’ve now been dating roughly three weeks and we have a problem. I love politics. I am majoring in political science and keep up with many major political events. I want to be a political journalist after graduation. I love talking about politics and political topics; it’s my passion. While I grew up in a red area, I’m a Democrat. He’s not party-affiliated, but he has many opposing ideas to my own. This is not the problem for me. I’m fine with it because we have a great relationship and none of his opinions make me uncomfortable. The problem is that he gets angry every time I talk about politics or anything political.

I don’t know if it’s our differing views or if he feels attacked because I’m (usually) more knowledgeable about political events than he is. Every time it comes up he gets upset, which makes me upset and we just end up arguing — not even necessarily about politics but just arguing about how he feels like I belittle him. His solution is for us to never talk politics, but I just can’t do that since it’s such a major part of my life.

‘I’m in love with 2 women,1 of them is pregnant and I don’t like her,’ confused man seeks advice

I know people say politics and religion shouldn’t be discussed because they cause issues, but I think in today’s society it’s just impossible to know someone without knowing the political morals and values they hold. I really care about Eric and he’s an amazing man, but I feel like I can’t talk about the thing I’m most passionate about around him for fear of messing up our otherwise amazing connection. What other solutions could there be so that we can communicate about politics without there being tension?”

What do you think about this matter?

Things You May Be Addicted To Without Your Knowledge

People carry different activities for pleasure and entertainment to refresh their minds and for relaxation. But sometimes you may not realize you are practically addicted to the activities and hence it becomes hard to stop.

Here are some things you may not know you are addicted to:

1. SPORTS

Sports and games are a form of entertainment which help people feel relaxed when either playing or watching. Playing or watching has no harm at all but it becomes an addiction when you spend more or even all the resources you have just to enjoy sports.

Believe me some people stay up late or even miss their work just because they never had enough sleep because of watching a match. They gamble expensive materials and gifts for the winning matches of which is good if they are able but when a person gambles the only little thing he/she owns, then it becomes an a problem. Some even fight just because their favorite team has been defeated and do other crazy things.

2. BETTING

gambling

Its a form of entertainment and the same time a way of finding some cash by trying your luck. This has affected many where a person can afford to use all the cash they have just to bet and later loose everything. Betting is a serious addiction where students are even betting their school fees.

3. POLITICS

Every person is affected directly or indirect by the phenomenon of politics. But when it becomes an addiction then it’s serious and dangerous. When it comes to electing leaders everybody does so and its over but to some people, politics will never end; they talk politics, they eat politics and they wear politics. When it comes to political parties; between party A and B, a person will never have a clear explanation why s/he is so much into party B.

4. RELIGION

When I talk of religion I mean any cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world, texts, sanctified places, ethics or organizations that relate humanity to the supernatural or transcendental. Remember there is a difference between being religious and believing in supernatural beings.

Its ok to belong to a certain religion, but when one focuses on it than believing on the supernatural then that is a religion addiction. The more religious one is, the more s/he believes in what the other members of the religion believe and not about focusing on the supernatural.

Love

5. RELATIONSHIP

You may wonder how is this related to addiction but let me explain it to you. Remember romance relationship is the one involved here. According to Bentham philosophy; We start to make some kind of distinction between our emotions and our rationality when relationship is concerned between the involved parties. This means when one decides to leave a relationship then the other one should agree and move on. Though it isn’t easy you should take time before starting another relationship. Some run into building another relationship in the name of ‘healing wounds’ thinking it’s the best option of which starting a new one is easy but breaking up is another story.

“This is a primitive way of competing. These are signs that Jubilee has already sensed defeat and wants to resort to intimidating opponents but this will not dump our resolve to liberate Kenyans from the shackles of poor leadership by Jubilee,” he said on the phone.

The Sunday incident is the first to occur in Kakamega county since official campaigns begun on May 28. Malala asked the government to live to its word on a peaceful election in August.

Jaguar, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, was appointed as a board member at the drug-fighting agency in April 2015 and immediately sparked speculations that he was warming up to join politics.

He has been traversing the city, especially the slums, doing lots of charity work. This has only fired up speculations that the singer has been setting himself up to contest for the Nairobi’s Starehe Constituency parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket.

If this is so, he will have to upstage the incumbent and powerful city politician, Maina Kamanda, at the Jubilee Party primaries.

Flamboyant city businessman Steve Mbogo is also eyeing the seat on an ODM ticket.

There have been unconfirmed rumours that Jaguar has been proposed to become President Uhuru’s chief campaigner for the youth.

When reached for comment, however, Jaguar chose not to reveal his next move or the reasons for his resignation.

“YES I RESIGNED TODAY SO AS TO ATTEND TO OTHER MATTERS. JUST KNOW THAT FOR NOW,” HE SAID.

Last week, a poster doing rounds on social media depicted the artiste as an aspirant for the said seat.

He, however, denied that he was indeed running for the political post.

He said,

“I AM NOT THE ONE WHO MADE THOSE POSTERS. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM UP. I AM A DIRECTOR. DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN POLITICAL ISSUES.”

Uhuru’s Cousin Distances Herself From ‘HealthGate’ Scandal After Winning Ksh 41 Million Tender

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Kathleen Kihanya has denied allegations that her company received Sh200 million from the Health ministry amidst the ‘HealthGate’ scandal.

But she said Sundales International Limited applied and won a contract worth Sh41 million in a competitive bidding process.

Kihanya, a director at the company, said they won the bid to supply emergency nutrition commodities to the Health ministry.

“Throughout the process we complied entirely with the provisions of the tender, and the transaction was above board,” she said at a press briefing on Saturday.

Kihanya co-manages the company with Uhuru’s sister Nyokabi Muthama.

Their company is said to have received more than Sh200 million in the Sh5.3 billion ‘Mafia House’ scandal.

Kenyans outraged over Uhuru kin links to Sh5 billion ‘Mafia House’ scandal

On Friday, opposition leader Raila Odinga linked Kihanya and Muthama to the alleged loss of funds at the Health ministry.

But Kihanya accused Raila of playing politics at the expense of their integrity.

“We are Kenyans and it is our right to do business in our country. For someone to cast doubt on our integrity for unnecessary political mileage and excite the public on false allegations [it] is totally unacceptable,” she said.

She said Sundales Limited is ready to cooperate with investigating authorities and upon the establishment of their innocence, Raila should issue a public apology.

“It is morally wrong, unspeakable, unscrupulous, unfair and unjust for any individual to play politics with people’s livelihoods and futures,” she said.

“It is also deeply distressing to imagine that in a time when entrepreneurship should be encouraged, individuals can be intimidated out of doing business and creating jobs by fear that someone may attack them for sport of political mileage.”

Kihanya asked investigators to get to the bottom of the matter, adding those found guilty of committing any crime or corruption “should without exception be charged and jailed”.

“I would like to finish with the words of Raila at the World Economic Forum: ‘Do not condemn people unheard. Give people a chance to be able to explain themselves’.”

According to reports, former President Mwai Kibaki’s press secretary Mr Ngare Gituku, said that Mrs Kibaki’s health had improved but doctors recommended she remains at the health facility.

“She is responding well to treatment and the doctors want to conduct a series of tests to ascertain that there is absolutely no issue that would crop up at any given time,” the Nation quoted Mr Gituku.

“As you many know, some tests require 48 hours for results to come out. They (doctors) would like to be with her especially being a weekend so that they can do that properly,” the family spokesman added.

Nigeria’s electoral commission on Saturday announced a six-week postponement to the presidential elections, citing fears over security and the Boko Haram insurgency.

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, said security chiefs advised a delay as troops would not be available because of operations against the militants.

“If the security of personnel, voters, election observers and election materials cannot be guaranteed, the lives of innocent young men and women and the prospect of free, fair and credible elections will be greatly jeopardised,” he told reporters.

Dagoretti MP says his life is in danger

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has expressed fear that his life is in danger and there are people who have been sent to kill him.

Speaking at Lavington Secondary school on Sunday when he presided over the issuance of school bursary funds to the needy students and Uwezo fund to groups all totaling Sh18.2 Million, Arati said that several meetings have been held since last week with an aim of eliminating him.

He said that he reported the threats at Kilimani Police station and asked the Police to provide him with enough security.

“Since November last year when I released my bodyguard whom I had been assigned by the Inspector General of Police due to his personal problems, I have never been given a particular bodyguard I requested for and even a gun I applied for I have not been issued with”,said Arati.

The ODM MP added that the plot to kill him has been hatched by several sitting MPs and former MPs who fast held a meeting at the KICC and at Kenyatta University last week to hatch the plot to kill him and another meeting held on Saturday at a residence of former politician in Lavington.

The killers, according to Arati have been assigned a white saloon car whose registration number has been given to Police for investigation.

Arati said death threats will not cow him from serving his constituents and fighting for the massive land grabbing which is taking root in the country and in his constituency where several portion of land belonging to public school has been invaded by purported private developer

We’ll support you in 2022, TNA assures William Ruto

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA has moved to reassure their URP ruling coalition counterparts of the party’s “unwavering” political support for Deputy President William Ruto if he runs for President in 2022, and in his ongoing ICC trial.

This comes amid anxiety among Ruto supporters that the DP may be receiving only lukewarm State support in his trial on crimes against humanity charges linked to the 2007-08 post-election violence.

Ruto is on trial alongside his co-accused, former radio journalist Joshua Sang’.

The state of panic among Ruto’s supporters in his Rift Valley backyard, where Sang’ also comes from, has forced the ruling alliance to develop an image-saving strategy to boost public confidence and avert more damage.

Jubilee political strategists have crafted a new coalition-saving master-plan to dispel fears that the withdrawal of Uhuru’s case by the ICC could spell doom for the TNA and URP union.

Mauritius votes over presidency, economy

Mauritians voted Wednesday in parliamentary elections with rival parties promising to boost the economy and battling over the proposed strengthening of presidential powers.

The issue of constitutional reform makes the polls some of the most important since the Indian Ocean nation gained independence from Britain in 1968.

Polling stations on the main island for some 936,000 voters opened at 7:00 am (0300 GMT), and will close at 6:00 pm (1500 GMT).

“Everything is in place,” said Electoral Commissioner Irfan Rahman, who said 14,000 election officials were working to ensure the smooth running of the polls.

The sale of alcohol is banned until Thursday, when the results of the vote are expected.

Two rival coalitions are competing for 62 parliamentary seats — 60 on the main island of Mauritius, and two on the small island of Rodrigues, some 560 kilometres (350 miles) to the east.

On one side, the centre-left group brings together the Labour Party (PTR) of Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and the former opposition Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) party. Ramgoolam is expected to want to run for president, currently a largely ceremonial position elected by parliament.

Should they win, the PTR-MMM coalition have agreed to try to amend the constitution so the president will be directly elected.

On the other side is the Alliance Lepep, a centre-right coalition led by former president Anerood Jugnauth and three other political parties.

Former minister and politician Joseph Kamotho passes on

Former powerful Kanu secretary general and political veteran Joseph Kamotho has died, his son has confirmed.

Reports say Kamotho died at a South African hospital after battling with kidney failure and high blood pressure for a long time.

The former Kanu strong man has been in and out of hospital a number of times. In 2013 he had planned to run for the Murang’a senate seat but lost Kembi Gitura and was admitted at Nairobi hospital.

Kamotho was in a semi-coma state for one month after collapsing in Muranga during a public rally.

A family source then said Kamotho’s health deteriorated after he lost in his bid for Murang’a county Senate seat.

He was a strong supporter of former President Daniel Arap Moi.

Raila congratulates Uhuru on ICC win

Cord leader Raila Odinga has congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta following a decision by ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to withdraw the charges against him at the International Criminal Court.

Raila said the President’s personal triumph is also of great significance to the country.

“It is my hope that with this burden taken away, my brother, President Uhuru Kenyatta will now focus all his energies and attention on serving the people of Kenya to the best of his ability. I wish him well in this noble task.” Raila said.

Cord co-principal, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula also congratulated Uhuru saying that this will now give the President ample time to execute his duties without dividing the nation.

Wetang’ula also wished Deputy President Willima Ruto and his co-accused journalist Joshua Arap Sang all the best in their cases. He said he hoped that they will also receive fair judgement and be set free to discharge their duties in the country.

ODM MPs propose Raila should succeed Kajwang’

Homa Bay leaders want Cord leader Raila Odinga to fill the vacant county senatorial seat following Otieno Kajwang’s death.

Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga, speaking on behalf of the MPs, said Raila is the only politician who is capable of replacing Kajwang who died two weeks ago.

“We as the leaders of Homa Bay county want former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to honour Kajwang by contesting for the Homa Bay Senatorial seat,” Anyanga said at a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday.

“My first choice for Homa Bay senator is the former prime minister Raila Odinga,” Kibera MP Kenneth Okoth posted on his Twitter account.

This comes after the IEBC on Monday set February 2 as the day for the Senate seat by-election.

The law of Kenya requires that a by-election be held within 90 days from when a seat is declared vacant.

Is Mia Love, first black Republican woman elected to congress, the Obama of the Republican Party?

Even her name is media friendly. Mia Love instantly became the darling of the Republican Party on Wednesday, after being elected as its first black female member of Congress — and she is a Mormon to boot.

She has also rapidly drawn comparisons with Barack Obama, not least since she wowed her party’s 2012 national convention with a tale of rags-to-political-riches, much like the young Senator Obama did in 2004.

“Many of the naysayers out there said that Utah would never elect a black Republican LDS woman to Congress,” she said at her victory rally, referring to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons.

“Not only did we do it, we were the first to do it,” said the 38-year-old, who was previously mayor of Saratoga Springs, a city 35 miles (56 kilometers) south of Salt Lake City.
