Kenyan celebrities whose parents you did not know are pastors

It is hard to imagine that some local artistes both in the gospel and secular sector have parents who are pastors given the fact that some of them do not talk about it.

Well here are some local celebrities you did not know are children of pastors

I don’t care about him! Jacque Maribe’s response about Jowie is completely justified

1. Pitson

Known for his hit song ‘Lingala Ya Yesu’ ‘Wanajua’ ‘Niache Niimbe’ among others comes from a Christian background. During an interview with Parents magazine, he said it was not easy.

“There was a lot of pressure and stigma as a pastor’s child and little room for mistakes or normal reactions to a situation such as anger or hatred. I found myself wishing my dad had an office job like other parents,” says Pitson who says his heart broke one time when his father gave him Ksh 30 to go buy himself a shirt while his friends traipsed all over town in the latest trendy attires.”

2. Amani

Amani who is now a gospel artiste strongly stated that despite her being secular artiste before, her parents were Christians and her mother a pastor.

In a post she explained that at some point she had to learn to ‘share’ her mother with other peole after all pastors are considered as ‘mum’ and ‘dad ‘ by their followers.

“As a pastors child I had to learn to share my mum…she always put her family first but had to pastor many.’’ The post read in part.Pastors have a lot to give and their kids are always surrounded with a lot of love but they have to learn how to share their parents with others for they are considered parents by many,’’

3. Emmy Kosgei

He lost the use of his limbs after a polio attack.

My lovly daddy in Dallas doing what he is called to do …. ! Thank God for technology 🙌🙌🙌 now he has custom made electric chair for ease ,comfort, mobility and ability to speak comfortably at his age! Praise be to God🙏🙏”

4. Rev Natasha

She is an affirmation that the apple does not fall far from the tree as she has followed in her mothers footsteps of spreading the gospel.

Natasha is a minister at Oracle Of God while her mother is pastor with Maximum Miracle Center, and she is pastor Esther Wanjiru.

5. Andrew Muiru

Many might remember him for his energetic dancing performance back in the day, he is son to Maximum Melodies Pastor Pius Muiru.

‘No one can fill your shoe…’ Pitson pays tribute to late Kaberere

Today marks exactly six years since gospel artiste Peter Kaberere died.

He was electrocuted in a freak accident at his Nairobi car wash located near Lower Kabete while cleaning his car in 2014.

He left behind a widow, Njeri with two young children. She was heavily pregnant with their second child when he passed away.

Celebrity has penned down tribute messages to remember him.

Among them gospel singer Pitson who wrote;

“6 years on, no one can fill your shoes. i loved your music, and still I do,” he wrote.

Music director j blessing;

“its been 6 years since you left us and your impact on us still felt till now. you’ll always be remembered not only on this day but all through your deeds in our lives.”

‘Was I supposed to grow young?’ Avril responds to trolls

Last years his wife also penned down a moving tribute to her husband.

Her emotional tribute reads:

Five years on…
And it still looks like it was yesterday.
Five years on…
And your memories still linger fresh.
Five years on…
And we still miss you as if you went on a long journey, hoping that your return was delayed.

But… Five years on…
We have seen GOD’s faithfulness.
Five years on…
We have drawn closer to HIM.
Five years on… HE has been our comfort and HIS arms ever embracing us.
Five years on…
We haven’t lacked and we have seen HIS mercies fall afresh on us.
Five years on…
We are healing, and keeping your lamp shining.

Keep dancing and singing as you would with us, but now, with the Angels at the feet of JESUS.

We still have the hope that we shall meet again.

In an earlier interview with Classic 105, Njeri said it has not been easy balancing work and parenting but she has done it by God’s grace.

“Apart from work, there are so many things I do. I make sure that if I am not home in the evening I have to wake up very early to talk to them and pray with them, go through their homework.

“On Saturday when I do not have any events, I shower them, we sometimes go to hang out with my mum-in-law. However, I spend all my Sundays with them.

Njeri said her son understands that his father passed away and he has been very supportive, despite his tender age.

“My son Ulah is a sharp boy. My memory has gone down after Njoki’s birth due to hormonal changes and after the loss of my husband,” she said.

Exclusive: Money and fame can’t change you if God really called you – Pitson

The gospel industry is under siege and it is easy to understand why given that two of its top artistes are currently facing allegations of infecting a woman with Herpes.

Herpes is an infection caused by HSV (herpes simplex virus). There are two types of Herpes Mainly HSV-1 and HSV-2.

Apart from gospel artistes being caught up in s3x scandals there has been the big question of gospel artistes creating music that is lacking in ‘spiritual nourishment’.

Speaking exclusively to Classic 105, Pitson says that it’s important for  one to lay a good foundation and know why they were ‘called’.

“The problem is the foundation. Being able to identify why one came into the industry and the reason they do what they do.

If the reason was to praise God even if money and fame comes through one is not supposed to change.

But if they joined the gospel industry for fame, once they get fame is when they start behaving the way they are behaving.”

DK Kwenye Beat and Hope Kid have been under harsh criticism from Kenyans with many terming them a bad example to the youth.

Trouble started after a 20 year old woman approached a top blogger and informed him that the duo had infected her with Herpes, something that she is yet to come to terms with.

There are two types of herpes mainly HSV-1 and HSV-2.

HSV-1, or type 1 herpes, is most often responsible for herpes infections that result in lesions in or around the mouth, otherwise known as cold sores, although it can also cause genital sores.

HSV-2, or type 2, is thought to almost exclusively cause genital sores.

Lingala ya Yesu star Pitson played truant and lied a lot

Gospel singer Pitson has revealed how hee played truant and lied a lot while he working at a local bank.

The Lingala ya Yesu hit maker told The Star newspaper that he has since quit his bank job after his productivity started to go south. He says he decided to quit after he found it hard to defend his whereabouts when his superiors questioned him.

“It got really hard to concentrate between my work at the bank and music. My productivity was on a downward spiral. Sometimes I was forced to lie about my whereabouts, as I left the office to attend to media interviews, studio sessions or even video shoots. When asked I would say I was with a client. It was not a good thing to do but I have since asked God to forgive me for that, ” he said.  Even after quitting his job it took him three months to tell his parents.

He is now working on his 12-track album dubbed Kijana Atatoboa.
