‘Relatives claimed I would not amount to anything’ Nyce Wanjeri recalls

Former ‘Auntie boss’ actress Nyce Wanjeri aka ‘shiro’ has taken to social media to narrate to her fans how much negativity damaged her self esteem.

‘As a child, I grew up around a lot of negativity’- says former Auntie Boss as she recalls comments that were said by her relatives, comments that really weighed her down as a child.

The mother of one opened up about how negative comments affected her life and how she was going to break that cycle by making sure her kids don’t go through the same.

‘True happiness is not all about mansions and big cars’- Robert Burale

Her statement went ahead to say;

As a child, I grew up around a lot of negativity. I vividly remember the number of times I’d overhear some relatives claim that I would not amount to anything.

They didn’t care that I could hear them and that they are speaking to my spirit. “Kaschana kana macho kubwa na kamwili ni kijiti, mdomo kiherehere tu.

This really messed up my self confidence.

At a young age, I vowed to bring up my young ones in an environment full of positive vibes, letting them know that they do not need people’s approval to know their worth, intelligence or beauty.

I went through it so that they don’t have to. The cycle had to be broken, break yours too. 💓💓❤️❤️

Nyce Wanjeri alias Shiro opens up on what broke her 7 year marriage

Late last year, Titus Wainaina “Tito Wagithomo”, surprised many when he spoke about the end of his marriage to popular actress Nyce Wanjeri.

The post, which he quickly pulled down from Facebook alerted many to the fact that all was not well in their marriage. When we later spoke to him, he said that the two would be working on their marriage.

One person who was conspicuously silent was his wife, the other party in the marriage, Nyce. She refused to speak about what was going on and left many with questions, considering the couple shared a daughter together.

The former Auntie Boss actress has now spoken about what went on in her marriage. She spoke to Massawe Japanni on Radio Jambo and told her:

“Its true we broke up just like Tito said .Every marriage has its teething problem.Every partner has a side to him or her that causes friction in the union.

I do not want to say we broke up as a result of me challenging his position as a man in the union.I won’t say much because you never know what happens in the lives of people who share a blanket together .”

The award-winning actress added that she started noticing serious elements of disrespect in Tito when they were seven years in the relationship.

MONEY BEGAN FLOWING IN; FOR HIM AND I. IT WAS AT THAT POINT THAT I STARTED NOTICING SERIOUS ELEMENTS OF DISRESPECT IN HIM. OF COURSE, THERE WERE POCKETS OF DISRESPECT BEFORE, BUT AFTER CROSSING THE 7-YEAR LINE, THE DEGREE OF DISRESPECT IN HIM BALLOONED. I FELT IT WAS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY, AND I COULD FEEL IT WAS WEIGHING ME DOWN.

The direct issue was clearly a major one for her, as she added:

THERE ARE A LOT OF ISSUES I’M NOT READY TO TALK ABOUT BUT THE FIRST ONE WAS DISRESPECT AMONG OTHER THINGS. A LOT OF PEOPLE HANDLED IT DEPENDING ON HOW HE (WAITOMO) POSTED IT AND BLAMED IT ON MY SUCCESS BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE, MONEY COMES AND GOES, MATERIAL THINGS ARE NOTHING. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A RELATIONSHIP IS LOVE AND RESPECT.

Also troubling to the actress was that Tito had never met her parents:

“We couldn’t seek our parents intervention because he never visited my parents neither has he even met them.

We had planned in the course of the relationship that he would visit my parents and normally ask them to bless our union I asked him several times why he wasn’t even mentioning to me about plans of visiting my parents ,on my end however he introduced me to his parents.”

The actress summarized her experience with her former husband by saying:

“I say when someone disrespects you today, tomorrow and the day thereafter and he is not showing any signs of changing for the better you would of course get tired  of his /her habits.

And you realize his disrespectful habits when you mature mentally.”

Former Auntie boss actress Nyce Wanjeri speaks out on marriage

Former Auntie Boss actress Nyce Wanjeri’s husband Titus Wainaina took to social media to announce that his marriage to the actress is over.

He later deleted the post. It read:

In the post Tito, a musician, said their marriage suffered because his wife (Shiro) had become an absentee spouse. According to the post, things have not been working following Nyce’s success on TV.

Later he retracted his statement in an interview seen by Classic 105.com

Titus said:

“What I had said was past tense. It’s best I sort of know exactly what is happening. I can’t conclude now. Everything has its ups and downs and I think it’s too soon to decide or know what is happening.”

Asked if the two are still a item, Tito said; “It is better we take time to figure out what is up. Ask yourself why the post is no longer there,” adding, “At times not everything works. We have our ups and downs, which is normal. I may have acted out of the feeling I had at that time but it’s something we are handling.”

But have they sorted out the issue? “Let’s say yes…At times not everything works. We have our ups and downs, which is normal. I may have acted out of the feelings I [had] at that time but it’s something we are handling.”

Now, Nyce has spoken out about her whirlwind relationship with Titus. She posted on Instagram,

“I have a lot to say, but not the time to tell it. I guess life goes on, Of God Are many.”

In a recent interview with Salon Magazine, Nyce narrated how her love for Titus broke all the rules. The two meet when they were working for Jicho Four Productions under the same film crew in 2008.

At the time, they were dating different people, but they kept their relationship strictly professional, helping each other improve their craft.

However, six months into their encounter, they decided to hook up and see if their love connection will work better than their previous relationship. They were both single at the time.

“Up to date, Titus still rehearses the scripts with me and provides comical ideas to spice up my shows and act. I truly found my perfect match,” Nyce said.

When management found out that they were dating, they almost lost their jobs.

They stuck their necks for each other and were willing to go as far as quit their jobs for one another. Thankfully they were retained – with a warning of course, in addition they were separated and put on different casts.

Four years later, they welcomed their baby, Natasha.

“Natasha’s birth brought us warmth and joy but it wasn’t easy juggling between parenthood and work. At times we are forced to bring her along to our rehearsals and performances when we have had no nanny to watch her.”

And that good people is their love story.

Former Auntie Boss actress Nyce Wanjeri and hubby speak out on the end of their marriage

Nyce Wanjeri popularly known by her screen name Shiru and her husband are going through a tough time in their marriage.

The news was first broken by her husband who took to Facebook to declare why it is over. The post husband Titus wrote yesterday on his Facebook page can be seen in the screenshot below:

The Screenshot

But we at Kiss100 wanted to dig deeper into their current situation. So we contacted both parties. Titus who prefers being called Tito responded and told us that he acted out of the emotions he had. He even called it a past tense and said:

WHAT I HAD SAID WAS PAST TENSE, ITS BEST I SORT OR KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. I CAN’T CONCLUDE NOW. EVERYTHING HAS ITS UPS AND DOWN AND I THINK ITS TOO SOON TO DECIDE  OR KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.

He added that the two are just taking time to figure things out.

IT IS BETTER WE TAKE TIME TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS UP. ASK YOURSELF WHY THE POST IS NO LONGER THERE.

But have they sorted out the issue? An unsure sounding Tito replied:

LETS SAY YES.

Adding that:

AT TIMES  NOT EVERYTHING WORKS, WE HAVE OUR UPS AND DOWN WHICH IS NORMAL. I MAY HAVE ACTED OUT OF THE FEELINGS I WAS FEELING AT THAT TIME BUT ITS SOMETHING WE ARE HANDLING.

When we reached out to Shiru, real name Nyce Wanjeri our calls and WhatsApp messages went unanswered. She, however, blue-ticked our message meaning she had read it.

Could all this be because of the  Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards? Nyce won the best actress in a comedy beating bigwigs in the industry all over Africa. After that, she has been getting major gigs which of course got her busy and probably less family time as Tito said.

We do hope things will work out for them.

Exclusive: Shiro of Auntie Boss reveals details on why she has finally left the show

Award-winning actress Nyce Wanjeri, alias Shiro of Auntie Boss, will no longer be in the programme, as her three-year contract has expired.

Shiro posted on her social media platforms: “For 15 seasons, that is almost 200 episodes on NTV, Auntie Boss has been my home. I have been humbled to work with an amazing production house that is Moonbeam and their very abled selection of cast and crew. I have been blessed and lucky so far, but that beautiful journey that started three or so years ago is soon coming to an end.”

Classic 105 reached out to Nyce and she explained the contract expired in July, and due to what she termed “contractual differences” with the team, she decided not to renew.

“I cannot exactly say I left the show, as opposed to saying we hit a contractual wall. The details of that I can’t get into due to legal implications,” Nyce said.

“But also, it was time for me to move on to the next level of my career as a brand, beyond Shiro of Auntie Boss. My contract with Auntie boss ended in July of 2017, after we finished shooting all required episodes. And I just did not have a contract renewal this year due to the existing contractual differences.”

Shiro-Auntie-Boss

Nyce, who acted as the stubborn house help, has risen to be among the top female actors in the country after winning best TV comedian at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in Nigeria, beating popular names in the industry in Africa.

She has been hitting greater heights, getting endorsements with different companies. And now she will be battling with five other nominees, including Ghanaian actors Chris Attoh, Adjetey Anang and South African beauty Pearl Thusi, for ‘Best Lead Role in Film (non-Nigerian)’ in the upcoming NEA Awards 2018, which will take place on November 10.

“I can’t begin to explain how happy it makes me! It validates all I have been doing for these many years, and I thank God for Auntie Boss, which has brought me to this point,” she said.

Shiro urged fans to keep supporting her as she will still be in local programmes.

“Keep following me, you shall see very soon. Entertaining is in my blood and I must continue till I have no more strength in me,” she said.

“As far as other shows are concerned, I am open to any other productions that I can join for the sake of entertaining Kenyans.”

I have been humbled to work with an amazing production house that is Moonbeam and their very abled selection of cast and crew. I have been blessed and lucky so far, but that beautiful journey that started 3 or so years ago is soon coming to an end.😔 This coming Tuesday, the 18th of September, will have me on my last fresh episode of Auntie Boss on NTV, lakini repeats zitakuwa Maisha Magic bado.”

Shiro further pens that it is not an easy decision given that she had fallen in love with the character but states that everything that has a beginning must have an end.

“I won’t pretend to not be a little bit sad because Shiro is a character I had personally fallen in love with. 😢 She was a dear to many Kenyans and the amazing time I’ve spent on set watching the amazing actors and actresses grow are moments I am going to treasure forever! But whatever has a beginning must have an end, and so this chapter of Shiro must come to an end to make way for something else, somewhere else. I promised that I’ll keep entertaining till I have no strength left in me so I will continue in one way or another.”

She concludes by informing her fans that she will no longer be acting as Shiro nor use that character.

“We can only thank God that this is happening while we are at the top, with wins and nominations and continental recognition for myself and also the show Auntie Boss na sio kuchoka mmechoka na sisi.😎 Also, it will not only be my last episode on the show, but the last time you the fans will interact with me as Shiro. Since I am no longer under the show and the production company that owns the show and the character Shiro, I am required to no longer appear or engage as Shiro…”

‘Before my win, nobody was interested in me’, Shiro of Auntie Boss narrates

Nyce Wanjeri, popularly known as Shiro of Auntie Boss, won one of the most prestigious awards in the market, the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2018, as the best actress in a comedy and series category.

The actress took to social media to share the great news, dedicating the award to her late mother.

Nyce lost her mother two years ago and her father when she was 11 years old. She credits her mum for the award.

“My mum was my number one cheerleader. No day do I remember her discouraging me from being an actor, unlike the stories I’ve heard from most Kenyan parents. Every decision I made she was there to support and advise, and most of all her prayers. She was a prayer warrior and it is thanks to those blessings from her that I am where I am right now. That woman, her prayers were what kept me going in all my work.

“If she was around, I’m sure she’d have lost her voice from shouting and crying in celebration of my win. She’d have assembled the entire church community (yes, she was one of those mums) to give thanks in prayer and worship because her prophecy over my life and success would have come true,” Nyce said.

Shiro of aunt boss late mum

Even as she rests in peace, Nyce has a message for her mum.

“Thank you mum for bringing me up in the right way. If I will ever go astray, I can never blame you. If I would be even half of the woman you were, I would have achieved a lot. Continue resting with the angels, mum,” she said.

Asked if she expected to win, Nyce said:

“I went in ready for anything. Win or lose, I was already humbled by the nomination alongside them. But this is where faith comes in. I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it again: it is on my knees that most battles are won. I prayed with my family and friends, then let go and let God.

IMG-20180907-WA0052

“It was amazing how on the red carpet, before the ceremony started, no one was concerned about or interested in me. Were it not for my manager, the interviews he aggressively pushed for me to get wouldn’t have happened (#SystemKujichocha). Contrast that to the moment after I won. They were all looking for me to take photos! Mwimbaji aliimba akasema, waliokudharau watakusalimia kwa heshima! It was God manifesting Himself through and through.”

Lessons she learnt,
“Don’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t summarize people by what others say about them. There are other layers to people beyond what we hear or say. Get to know people for who they are not what they are.”
IMG-20180907-WA0062(1)

Her feeling after winning was all mixed up.

“Joy, confusion and disbelief mixed up. I cried all night by the way, made sure I slept with the trophy so that just in case it was a dream, if I woke up, it’ll still be there to remind me it is real. I mean, they just called out my name instead of Rita Dominic or Dakore! One of the best moments of my life!” Nyce said.

She thanked Kenyans for their support.

“This time Kenyans voted and they voted in serious numbers! I shall ensure that beyond TV, my content shall be available on social media as well, to ensure I keep those smiles on their faces. I owe that to my fans.”
