KICC CEO Nana Gecaga marks 22 years of sobriety

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece and KICC chief executive Nana Gecaga is celebrating 22 years of recovering from being an alcoholic.

She says this is one of the most important milestones in her life.

Nana, who has been vocal about how alcoholism ruined her life, says she is proud of herself as she has remained committed to sobriety.

She wrote on Instagram, “22 years of being sober. I just want to thank everyone who has played a role in supporting me to get this far. Lastly, I want to thank me, myself and I. I have to give credit where it is due.

“I’ve remained committed to my sobriety, I’ve put it first always and been very proud of where I have come and where I’m going. It takes courage to go against the grain and it takes humility to not only realise you have a problem but then commit the entire rest of your life to change it for the better.”

In a past interview, Nana admitted that she used to drink up to a crate of beer and a bottle of hard liquor in one sitting.nanagecaga

Her love for alcohol blew up some of her dreams, one of which was to become an athlete.

Nana took the step to take it slow at the age of 21 after living in the UK for over a decade.

She added that the bold move did not come short of challenges, revealing that she lost friends.

“The one thing I can say to them is, tomorrow is another day and try to live or get to that day and never be ashamed or too proud to ask for support. Kenya has a lot of support and use it.”

I have lost 18 kilos dieting this year – Nana Gecaga

KICC CEO Nana Gecaga is looking like a yummy mummy and it is all down to a weight loss regimen that a friend took her through.

Nana, who is also President Uhuru’s niece, told of her journey shedding weight in a youtube discussion on @Team 5 minute real talk.

She began describing how her lifestyle saw her eat or not eat at times depending on her busy schedule, which most mum’s can agree with.

“I have three children and each is two years apart, so in between my diet was out of the window. I was the typical revamp type of person, I wouldn’t have breakfast, instead lots of coffee probably wouldn’t have lunch, and then come home and wolf down two packets of gummy bears. I was a very sweet tooth”

So what prompted her to want to make a change in her lifestyle? She told

” I was sluggish. I was 78 kgs. I was feeling bad, wearing dark colors to cover up and not wanting my pictures taken. Before having kids, I was the perfect 36 24 36″

This hit her so hard she asked her fitness and weight loss coach Roseanne to help her out. She spoke about it to encourage others out there

“May 20th 2020 was my starting point. And the before and after pictures are amazing. In four weeks I went from 78 to 67kgs not eating anything sugary, then I started losing inches in 12 weeks and I am now at 64 kgs. I’m feeling and looking fantastic. I dropped the sugars and refined carbs and I started eating better, lotsa vegetables”

She added that

“I want this to be a lifestyle, and I’m  gearing up to 100 days of healthy living”

Gilad, who is a former Israeli Deputy ambassador, reiterated his love for Kenya and revealed that he had applied for Kenyan citizenship.

I love Kenya and the fact that people love my songs, know the words and connect with it. I love it when my songs have an impact on the fans,” the father of two stated. I came from corporate to music. I took a downgrade in my income, which is fine. I don’t need fancy cars and flashy lifestyle. My wife and I moved into the apartment from a bungalow that had 10 rooms. It was my choice.
