‘God came through when I had no food and rent,’ cries Mercy Masika

Mercy Masika has revealed that when she wrote ‘Mwema’ she was at a point where she had already given up on music. She felt like God was too busy to hear her prayers.

She says,

I was doing a Masters in Community Development because music was not working.

When we shot Mwema I was only doing it as a by the way.

My sister thought the song sounded too normal. I already had other songs but nothing was working for me.

We shot the song in 1 hour amazing enough the song that was a joke turned out to be my break through song.

Mercy narrated that she did not give up on God because of the strong relationship she had with Him.

There is a time I wanted to give up on the church but somehow my pastor found out.

She called me and assured me that God had so much in store for me.

I did not give up on God because I had seen his goodness before.

There were times I had no food to feed my kids and he would send someone with exactly what I needed.

Mercy Masika and her husband are presently safe because it was not a serious accident, but just a slight knock along the Githurai overpass.
