Police have arrested three Moi University students in connection with the killing of their colleague during a confrontation in a drinking club located near the college.
The suspects were seized by police detectives from the university compound where they had taken refuge after an incident where the victim, Felix Odiuor, a fourth year sociology student was stabled two times in chest.
Eldoret South police boss Wilson Abduba said those arrested include two fourth year students and another one who is a second year. The incident occurred on Saturday night
Further, IJM records show that a protected witness testified that he was arrested over allegations of robbery and put in the cells at around 10.30pm.
“While in the cells he heard a voice say, “Mtu ana rape mtoto wake (Someone rapes his child”). He said the person said to have raped the child was ordered to enter into a drum (barrel),” the testimony said.
The witness could hear bubbling sounds as though somebody was drowning.
“He heard sounds of a man being beaten. He said there was also another man in the cell who told him that he had also been beaten by the police. Minutes later another man who was injured was brought into the cells by two officers. He was wet and bloody,” it says.
Another protected witness corroborated the accounts of the first witness, saying that he saw someone being taken to the cell where he was and also saw Mutua holding a metal pipe.
“Five minutes later he saw the accused person beating someone. There was a bulb lighting the place outside the cell so he could see through an opening in the cell. The man was put in the cell, his clothes were wet and he was bleeding. He was in a bad shape,” the testimony continues. The suspect had fallen unconscious and was rushed to KNH.”
At his trial, Mutua dismissed the statements as “mere speculation and suspicion” that could not pass for evidence.
But the judge ruled that the police boss had murdered Koome.
A prominent Rwandan model and actress, Alexia Uwera Mupende, 35, was Tuesday evening killed at her father’s home in Nyarugunga Sector, in Rwanda.
Her sudden death first circulated on social media at around 9 p.m Tuesday, with a message calling on members of the public to help arrest her alleged killer, a 23-year old house-maid who worked at their home.
Modeste Mbabazi, the spokesperson of Rwanda Investigation Bureau, confirmed the news but could not share further details only saying they were following up on the case.
Mupende was the General Manager of Waka Fitness, a popular fitness centre in Kigali.
Preliminary reports showed that Mupende succumbed to her injuries following stabbing by the domestic worker.

Kenyan police have arrested a woman who in a call to one of the radio stations confessed to killing her husband’s lover six years ago.
The woman identified by police as Linda Namukuchu Urandu shocked Kenyans after she called in during a morning show on kenyan local station, Radio Jambo, and narrated how she killed the woman.
According to Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, the suspect was arrested in Kasarani area, Nairobi. Also in police custody is her former husband, Benson Muthine and his current wife Margaret Tata.
Urandu will be detained in police custody for 10 days for further questioning to verify her claims.
At the same time, Kinoti has appealed to any person who may have lost a female relative six years ago to report to the central police station.
In the audio recording, which circulated across social media in October, the woman is heard telling the hosts how she orchestrated her plans by using her male friend to seduce and lure the deceased, who used to live in Mombasa, to a Nairobi lodging where she strangled her to death.
“The woman who proved to be a home-wrecker gave in to my friend’s advances. I financed the man to host her on a date at a joint where I went and secretly identified her. I paid for a second date and directed him to make sure she was drunk and booked her in a River Road lodging.
“She tried to fight me when I was strangling her, but because she was drunk and I was sober, she could hardly do anything. I killed her and put her under the bed before leaving the establishment,”
She added that she had already bribed the attendants to switch off the CCTV cameras.
In his ruling, Justice revealed that Monicah’s family opposed Jowie’s bail application in an affidavit sworn by George Kimani, Monicah’s small brother.
Part of the reasons read:
“The fact that the motive of the murder of the deceased is unknown poses a greater danger to them since they are not sure whether it was against the family with the deceased being the first victim,” adding, “The manner and style in which the deceased was murdered shows that the people who did it are meticulously organized and dangerous individuals whom if given a chance are capable of ensuring that the entire case collapses.”
George added in the affidavit
“The accused persons tried to conceal some of the evidence before their arrest and that the police are still searching for one other person who was allegedly with the 1st accused, the murder weapon, the deceased house and car keys and if released on bond they will interfere with the ongoing investigations.”
Justice Wakiaga added that George knew Jowie “who was his college mate at Kenya Polytechnic.”
“I have heard many say working with family is the hardest thing and it’s very true because we definitely fight a lot with my brother, but some battles I fight, I am sure I win because he is by my side,”
“I appreciate you, my not so small brother, and I am sure when together we got this. I love you so much may God give us the grace to keep winning and getting better in this hustle. You are the best business partner I could ever have. Cheers to many more deals. Today was a tough one but we cracked it.”
Its been weeks since the late Sharon Otieno was laid to rest after her gruesome murder along side her unborn baby leaving Kenyans in shock.
The Rongo University student was expectant with Okoth Obado’s child and it is alleged that he had demanded that she terminate it something she was not willing to do.
Before her murder it had emerged that the slain Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno had to flee to Tanzania to escape constant harassment and stalking by people who wanted her to abort her pregnancy.
The family claims that her tormentors were aggressive to a point where she feared for her life.
“She travelled to Mwanza by road. While there, she switched off her phones to prevent anyone from reaching her,” her mother Hellen Auma told the media.
Detectives claim that plans to kill Sharon may have been hatched months before the killers struck earlier this month. According to the Standard, it has been alleged that the plan to eliminate her had aborted on at least two occasions.
Sharon’s mum, Hellen confirmed that her worried daughter left hurriedly for Mwanza in early August and stayed away for about a week.
“Sharon woke up one morning and told me she wanted to go to Tanzania because she was no longer safe in Kenya. She didn’t tell me who was threatening her life.”
Sharon returned a week before she fell into the hands of her killers.
She met her death in the most horrifying of ways. Sharon was stabbed 8 times. 3 times at the back of the neck, 4 back, 1 left side of the stomach.
She had many bruises and strangulation marks on her neck. Her abdomen was stabbed from the back to the front, killing the baby in her womb.
It has emerged that another woman was in a similar situation as Sharon.
Rhoda Odie Nyakwaka also had to abort her pregnancy after a reported affair with Governor Okoth Obado.
She happens to be Okoth Obado’s sister-in-law.
The First Lady, Hellen Okoth and Rhoda are born of the same father who got the latter after inheriting her widowed mother in Kadika village of Suna Central sub-county.
According to the Nairobian, when Hellen discovered the shenanigans of her beloved husband with Rhoda, she is said to have gone bonkers even as Obado, lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, insists they have never been an item.
But a member of the Kadika clan from Hellen’s side of the family told The Nairobian that Obado’s affair with Rhoda has remained an open secret for a long time.
There were allegations Obado even got Rhoda pregnant but the pregnancy was allegedly terminated at the behest of angry relatives who accused her of crossing the blood line.
The tabloid further reports that the man claimed the affair started three years back when the governor employed Rhoda at the county head-quarters in the catering department.
“He even gifted her a house in Nyasare estate within Migori town,” the relative added.
A group of women rights activists from across the country have condemned the murder of the 26-year-old.
Mr Abuor called for an amendment of the Constitution to have murder suspects denied bail. “This will help victims get justice. The suspects should remain in custody until proven innocent,” said Mr Abuor.
Might this words from an earlier post by Sharon Otieno hint that she might have know what might happen to her?
“At times mimi huchoka na human beings. It’s not right to ruin someone’s reputation for no apparent reason, aki you mean you really say **** about someone mpaka uone tu umemharibia. You will be judged someday because nothing bad goes unpunished, good morning guys.”
True to her words those who killed her and her unborn baby will not go unpunished because Psalms 140:12 states that
“I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds cause for the needy.”
Proverbs 28:17 also says that “A man burdened by bloodguilt will be a fugitive until death; let no one support him.”
A woman has been found guilty of murdering her husband, dismembering his body and dumping the body parts in a quarry at Machakos County.
Mary Njoki Ng’ang’a, 50, was on Thursday convicted of brutally executing her husband in cold-blood at Kangemi estate Nairobi by cutting up his body into small pieces then stuffing the body parts in a travelling bag.
The Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi was told how Njoki wrapped the parts with bed sheets which she dumped in a quarry at Lukenya in Athi River Machakos County three years ago.
Quarry workers would later discover the rotting body parts after noticing a strong stench and many flies swarming over it.
The workers notified the police about their discovery and when the bag was retrieved, the rotting body of a male adult was found inside.
The court was also told how Ms Njoki had reported to the police the alleged kidnapping of the deceased by a three-man gang which she claimed attacked them at their Kangemi residence in Nairobi County on the night of December 14/15, 2015.
The accused also reportedly told her children that the attackers ambushed them inside their five bed-room house at Marenga, assaulted and left her for dead before kidnapping their father, James Ng’ang’a Ritho, who at the time was a 60-year-old petroleum dealer.
While convicting the accused, Lady Justice Stellah Mutuku dismissed her defense, terming it as a fabricated story to cover-up the accused’s heinous actions which ended the life of her husband of 30 years.”
Lady Justice Mutuku ruled that
“This court finds that state prosecutor Ms Mercel Ikol proved beyond reasonable doubt that you premeditated the killing of your husband. You are hereby convicted for the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code,”
In mitigation, Ms Njoki said she is remorseful and highly regrets her actions which resulted into her husband’s death.
Pleading wit the Judge she says
“I’m pleading with this court to consider handing me a non-custodial sentence since I’m a Guild Women leader of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA),”
She also told the court that while in custody, following her arrest, she studied theology and has been awarded a Diploma by the University of PCEA and had decided to devout the rest of her life preaching the gospel.
“I’m a reformed person as I stand before you. Sometime one makes mistake in life then regrets as I do. Give me a second chance.”
But the judge reserved her sentence until the probation department avails a victim impact report from the children of the deceased, his brothers and sisters plus extended family members about the accused.
The accused will remains in remand until October 25, 2018 when her fate will be determined by the court.
The mother of a 19-year-old girl who was killed last month in Kisii has gone missing leaving her family in shock even as they continue mourning .
Viverline Jemutai, a Form Three student at Cheburbur Secondary School in Uasin Gishu County, was stabbed three times, twice in the chest and once in the neck on September 20.
A suspect, 28-year-old David Kipsang, was arrested and arraigned on September 21,it has now emerged that Jemutai’s mother, Gladys Chumo, went missing soon after the murder and missed her daughter’s burial on Monday.
According to Jemutai’s father, Emmanuel Chebet, his wife became traumatised after getting news of her daughter’s killing and has not been seen since Wednesday last week.
A mother helped her daughter escape a troubled arranged marriage and told her ‘don’t ruin your life, go live it’ the night before she was allegedly stabbed to death by her angry son-in-law, a jury has heard.
Rahman Begum, 46, from Rochdale, Manchester, was allegedly stabbed to death at her home by her son-in-law Muhammad Tafham, 31, days after his wife left him to move back in with her long-term boyfriend.
A trial at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard how Mrs Begum was discovered by a relative lying on her kitchen floor at lunchtime on February 7 this year.
The mother-of-five had blood around her with a knife in her hand and was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived.
A post-mortem examination found she had suffered three major stab wounds to the front of her body and one that had passed through her breast bone and right through her heart.
Her daughter, Aysha, 25, had continued to see her partner despite entering into an arranged marriage in Pakistan with Tafham, a cousin on her father’s side, who joined her in the UK in September 2016.
The court heard the couple needed to live together for three years so dairy worker Tafham could stay in the country but the pair constantly argued and eventually Aysha asked him for a divorce, which he refused.
Aysha went back to her boyfriend in Bradford and Mrs Begum helped trick Tafham into leaving their home so her daughter hurriedly gather her belongings into bin bags before she drove off with her boyfriend.
Three days later Mrs Begum was found dead in her home.
The Crown say Tafham killed Mrs Begum in anger and then placed the 12in kitchen knife in her hand to make the death appear as a suicide.
Aysha told detectives that her mother had no reason to kill herself.
She said: ‘She would not do something like that.’
She said her father, Gulraiz Sharif, did not accept the relationship with her boyfriend, Malik, and that she only agreed to the arranged marriage with Tafham to keep her father happy.

I will never forgive you for killing my father, the teenage daughter of slain Gatunguru secondary school principal Samuel Mbogo has told her mother.
Margaret Wangari, a form two student at Kiria-ini girls told mourners if indeed her mother was behind her father’s murder, then her actions are unforgivable.
While giving her tribute during the burial service of her 50 years old father at Gakurwe primary school in Kiharu sub county, Murang’a county, Wangari wondered why women are turning against their husbands over property.
“Money should not kill such a cheerful person. Why do women nowadays prioritise money that much?” Wangari who was sobbing wondered.
She said people should consider the effect of their actions on children saying she was undergoing unbearable pain over what happened to her father.
“Those people you kill also have families, mothers, fathers and siblings who care about them. Money is nothing when there is no peace,” Wangari added.
Wangari’s speech moved the crowd to tears as she said that her father’s murder had left her and her 4 siblings alone as their mother is in police custody.
In a highly emotive burial service, Mbogo was eulogised as a highly effective educator who integrated well with the community.
Mbogo was the first principal at the school that was built in 2011.
His wife Alice Mugechi and another suspect Samuel Gitu are being held at Murang’a police station until May 28 when they are expected to take plea for murder charges.
Hundreds of mourners attended the burial as speakers called on speedy investigations into his murder.
What lengths would you go to save your relationship? Or rather the proper question should be; How far would you go to ensure you keep mpango wa kandos away from your man?
That was the question posed by a popular radio presenter.
The question attracted a wide range of reaction from thousands of her listeners who narrated all sorts of stories with the most popular ones being; beating them up to sending them all sorts of threats.
However, one lady pulled a shocker on the presenter which left her listeners shocked when she casually revealed that she stabbed her partner’s mpango wa kando to death after she found her red handed in their home.
The lady used to work with one of the leading mobile network operator in Mombasa but her hubby was in their Nairobi home and she had no choice but to tap his phone after she started doubting his husband was having an affair.
One day she traveled to Nairobi without clearly notifying her husband her whereabouts with hopes of ambushing him with his lover.
True to her instincts, when she opened the door she found the mpango wa kando and she had to lie to her that she was the man’s sister so as to execute her plans.
She locked the door and asked the two to be clear on their relationship and that’s when things went south. When she confronted the mpango wa kando she rudely told her that the two had no choice but to share the man before trying to fight her, and that’s when she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her to death.
Read her confession below.
Sahii nimeolewa kwa miaka sita. Sasa kuna siku after kutoka Nairobi nikaja Mombasa kwani nilikuwa nimemuacha mume wangu kwani nilikuwa nimeenda kikazi.
She narrated.
She added.
As if that was not enough, the lady has threatened to kill her husband’s current mpango wa kando adding that only God knows what she’s planning for the lady enjoying her husband’s goodies.
Listen to the full confession below but first, don’t you think this is a police case? Shouldn’t she be arrested?
