Sonko’s teary Father’s Day message gets Kenyans talking

Say whatever you will about Nairobi governor Mike Sonko but one thing that most can agree about is that he wears his heart on his sleeve.

Added to that the man isn’t afraid to be vulnerable with his supporters and Kenyans in general. Yesterday the politician shared a touching Father’s Day post that spoke memorably about his late father Gedion Kioko Mbuvi Kivanguli.

His message was accompanied by photos of the final resting place for his late dad, surrounded by family and friends.

Sonko dedicated the day to his late father who stood by him through various challenges in life an always helping him out.

“I dedicate this special day to my late Father Gedion Kioko Mbuvi Kivanguli, whenever I was stranded, he was there for me to help me out.” Sonko wrote.

Sonko also narrated how his dad had been a father figure to many writing;

“I take this opportunity to thank God for making me a father figure to many… To the rest of the Fathers in Nairobi, May the Almighty God bless you and the work of your hands for also being fathers to many people.” He added.

It is no secret that Sonko had a humble beginning before the money and fame with the politician starting out as a hustler in Mombasa; and being an ambitious man with a vision, before working his way to the top.

Sonko and his late dad were very close, with the governor attributing his success to him on numerous occasions. His mum, Saumu Mukami Mbuvi, passed on 21 years ago.

‘You have brought laughter, hope and joy into our family,’ Sonko’s celebrates son’s birthday

Governor Sonko’s adopted son Baby Satrin Osinya is officially 8 years.

Mike Mbuvi has taken to Instagram to send out warm wishes to the little boy who they have grown to love as their own.

“Happy 8th birthday my Son @s._satrine_s_

What a coincidence, just last week we celebrated the birthday of your elder brother Gift Osinya who rescued you from a hail of Al-Shabaab militia-men bullets when you were just two years old. Unfortunately, the bullet that killed your biological mum was lodged into your head, but the devil is a liar you survived and you have excelled and continue to thrive in everything that you do. For the 6 years we have been together, you have brought laughter, hope and joy into our family. There’s nothing more exciting and satisfying than seeing you grow and turn into such an amazing, smart boy. As a family, you have been a blessing to us, you continue to amaze us and we will forever treasure the day you came into our lives. Happy 8th birthday my Son @s._satrine_s_.”

Baby Satrine Osinya hit headlines in 2014 following a terrorist attack at the Joy in Jesus International Ministry church in Likoni, Mombasa.

The attack killed three worshippers among them Satrine’s mother Veronica Osinya who died while shielding her son from the flying bullets.

The bullet that killed his mother was left lodged in Satrine’s head and a picture of his brother Gift holding his bloodied brother Satrine gripped the hearts of many Kenyans.

He underwent a delicate three-hour surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital to remove the bullet and thereafter the Sonko’s adopted Satrine and his brother Gift.

He also celebrated his birthday this month.

The Rich And Famous! Top 10 Kenyan Celebrities And Public Figures With The Most Flamboyant Houses

When you see these houses, you will realize that Kenya is not a poor country.

And yes, it is true that fame comes with money. I’m not talking about deadbeat celebrities who get caught up with petty areas over refusing to pay rent in their posh houses, I’m talking about celebrities and personalities who own their own homes.

I will let their flashy houses tell the story. Check out top celebrity houses in Kenya;

1. Akothee

Call her madam boss or the Benefactor hit maker. She is indeed filthy rich and even with fans speculating where she got all that wealth, it is true that Akothee owns most of the posh houses in Kenya. She has several houses after building another house in Nairobi from Mombasa where she used to live. But do I say!

akothee house1(1)

2.Mike Sonko

Let alone his Mua Hills mansion that left many jaws dropping over the flamboyant mansion. Mike Sonko’s house in Mombasa is one that even some of his fellow politicians cannot afford. He is stinking rich and his house shows how wealthy this politician is.

3.Allan And Kathy Kiuna

They are probably the most wealthiest pastors in Kenya. The two who run the Jubilee Christian Church have one of the most flashy houses in the country. The couple have received condemnation for living a flashy life. But that doesn’t faze them. Check out their not-so-humble abode.

4.Vera Sidika

Never mind her big derriere that gets her all the attention and did I mention her bleaching or as she likes to call it, skin lightening. Man, Vera loves the limelight and the limelight loves her. From her days of being a video vixen in the music video, You Guy, she has re-invented her brand. With the re-invention comes the money that has seen her invest in a posh house, in a leafy suburb.

5.Mwai Kibaki

Kenya’s former president Mwai Kibaki owns a Ksh 500 million. That is what was spent to build the house. Whoever said more money more problems has not enjoyed the idyllic and calming view from this grandiose piece of real estate. The thing is, he refused to occupy the house once it was complete.

6.Anne Waiguru

She needs no introduction! The former devolution CS lives in Kihigo estate, Kitsuru and is one female politician that we surely can say lives a luxurious life.

7.William Ruto

Deputy president has had a rags to riches history, from living in a mud house in the village to getting a presidential house worth Ksh 450 million. The deputy President has two residences in Karen and Eldoret.

Less has been told of his personal life but the Former Prime Minister is living large with a house in Karen, another in Bondo not to forget his posh mansion in Mombasa.

Dubai is special for luxury shopping , ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa is the mega tall skyscraper in Dubai. Dubai Mall is one of the place for leisure and for luxury shopping followed by the Mall of Emirates and then the Deira Mall.

Glitzy Dubai is the United Arab Emirates’ holiday hot spot. This city of high-rises and shopping malls has transformed itself from a desert outpost to a destination du-jour, where tourists flock for sales bargains, sunshine, and family fun. Dubai is famous for sightseeing attractions such as the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building) and shopping malls that come complete with mammoth aquariums and indoor ski slopes. With all that, I am sure the whole family enjoyed their stay at the holiday hot spot.

#Ifikie Uhuru: Kenyans rant after photos of amputee football team sleeping on the floor emerge (photos)

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is on the spotlight again for not taking into consideration the welfare of Kenyan players.

A few weeks ago, the team was left stranded for lacking training gear opting to use some which had earlier been donated by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko

On Thursday at 10am, the Kenya national amputee football team made their way to the Sports ministry offices to present their participation trophy after a stellar performance at the Amputee Football World Cup in México.

‘I am not sure if I want that blessing’ Wahu wittily responds to rumors she is expectant

“But shock on us, we were not even welcomed. The reception itself was wanting and we were told to wait near the lifts,” said Mr Dalmas Otieno, the team’s captain.

The players agenda was to present the ministry of sports with the trophy and the report from their achievements in the just concluded world cup tournament.

The team had to camp at the Sports ministry offices for the night, lobbying for support.

He says

“We were told to wait at the lifts as the officials were not in their offices. We then asked if the players can be allowed to get into the boardroom and wait there but access was denied,”

Mipango yangu yote ya kando ni wakikuyu, Sonko confesses

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has reiterated that he does not hate Kikuyus as all his “side dishes” are from that tribe.

“People say Sonko hates Kikuyu, it’s untrue. I have nominated over 10 Kikuyu MCAs, my wife is a Kikuyu, all my side dishes and inlaws are Kikuyu. Even the incoming deputy governor is a Kikuyu,” Sonko said during the swearing in of Caroline Karugu as Deputy Governor of Nyeri.

The governor has in the recent past been at pains to redeem himself from utterances he made in March that several Mt Kenya leaders have been meeting at night to scuttle Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential ambitions in 2022.

“We are aware that some politicians from Mount Kenya have been holding night meetings in Nairobi to craft plans on how to support one of their own in 2022,” Sonko said during a service at Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Runda, Nairobi, presided over by Ruto.

But to silence the critics, Sonko added that his cabinet has four Kikuyus while the chief of staff and the county secretary is also from the region.

He added that since its a season of forgiveness its time people moved on and shunned bad politics.

On April 16, Sonko said he will not allow senior government officials to fan tribal wars between him and members of the Kikuyu community.

A furious Sonko, who took a swipe at the media at a public event outside City Hall, condemned an article published in one of the dailies which appeared to focus on his leadership style.

Sonko claimed Interior PS Karanja Kibicho is working with unidentified leaders from the Kikuyu community to try and label him as a hurdle to the well-being of Kikuyus in the city.

He further claimed Kibicho is working with a few individuals in the media to tarnish his record and label him as unfit to lead Nairobi.

The governor also accused former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda of engaging in secret plans to sabotage his work.
