Swahili news anchor Lulu Hassan was over the moon yesterday after her husband and workmates surprised her with a birthday cake on live TV.
She and her hubby, Rashid Abdalla had just completed their news segment when he decided to add more flavour to the broadcast.
And the cherry on top was a great celebration for Lulu that she will most likely remember for many years to come as she was surprised to see a colleague turn up with a nice banquet of flowers with several balloons on top.
“Happy birthday, may God give you a long life, you continue working for your audience and being the beloved anchor,” Rashid said while presenting her with the gift as she laughed and thanked him for the nice gesture.
That was not all, Lulu was in for more jubilation as some of her colleagues singing happy birthday as they joined the broadcast with a huge cake and more flowers.
And that’s when the waterworks broke for Lulu and who could blame her? Most people would be overwhelmed by the love she was shown by her hubby and colleagues.
She then cut her cake as her hubby made his final remarks thanking the team and everyone for their love and support throughout the years.

From photos seen by Classic105, Lulu’s cake was designed as a black purse with nice roses, her initials and a nice golden heel. The nice gift from her hubby also read: “To the love of my life.”
Rashid and the Citizen TV crew weren’t the only people who celebrated Lulu. Her old work-mate Kanze Dena (the Statehouse spokesperson) had also penned a lovely letter to her on social media.
Her caption read, “The value of a treasure is not the price at an auction place or shops. The true value of a treasure is in the heart. Each time the dawn comes, the value goes up. Lulu, you are a treasure, all the time, all the seasons,” she wrote.
