‘Tunaonea Waititu’ Man blasts Kenyans after mocking Waititu over impeachment

Did you watch the proceeding yesterday on the Waiitu impeachment? Senators Wednesday night voted to uphold embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s impeachment.

He faced three charges, all of which were upheld.

The first charge was gross violation of the Constitution, Public Finance Management Act and PPD Act.

The verdict formed the basis of th emorning conversation on classic 105 with host Maina Kageni asking Kenysn to give their opinion.

A man rattled many when he called in to the Classic morning show where he claimed the process was flawed, adding Waititu’s fate was determined way before.

Maina asked him to clarify what he meant, and boy did he go in on Kenyans mocking Waititu for his fate.

‘they were supposed to give waititu benefit of doubt because they were not supposed to just send him home, these people are only interested to see Waititu lose his position, they were fighting him even before that. Even before the impeachement, if you look at someone like mwaura, wamatangi, kangata all these people are interested in waiitut to lose governorship, so how do you expect waititu to get justice by people who were against him from the very beginning.’

‘it has caused such a big problem on twitter’ said Maina to which Mwalimu Kingangi added that

Siasa ya kiambu ni hatari, it is so large, all universities colleges are in Kiambu, watu wa kiambu powers Nairobi in every sense of the word, schools, institutions, it is so large and that’s why siasa ya Kiambu is not a joke, Kiambu is a powerhouse.’

Mwalimu says there are a lot of people supporting Waititu,

What’s going through your mind if you are a Kiambu resident asked Maina.

Drop your comments on the impeachment, and we will be sure to share it.

Beth Mugo’s romantic poem to husband on 61st wedding anniversary

At their family home in Kitisuru, Nairobi, guests including family members, friends and dignitaries among them Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka are seated.

Nominated Senator Beth Mugo and her husband Nicholas Mugo hold hands as they march slowly to a tent where a service is being held.

Behind them is their best couple and then their grandchildren.

“There come the bride and her team,” Evangelist Lucy Wangunjiri, the leader of Prayer Without Borders Ministry announces to the now cheering gathering.

beth mugo wedding anniversary

The Mugos take their place in the front row. Wangunjiri is leading the service with hymns and interludes of prayers.

It is a celebratory service marking the 61st anniversary of Beth and Nicholas Mugo’s wedding.

It was also a celebration of the senator’s 80th birthday, having attained that in July.

It is approaching the climax and the gathering is in a refectory mood; Wangunjiri invites the couple to make a speech.

“[Couples present] please join us and read to each other, meaning every word. Those in relationships or still praying for partners also read it,” Senator Mugo arose and told the gathering.

The couple read from a poem printed on the programme booklet.

“Sometimes, I know I have behaved stupidly, let me acknowledge, you have forgiven me happily. On such occasions, I have more understood that together, we are meant to overcome our stupidity. For indeed, you are the bone of my bone,” part of the seven stanza poem read.

Reverend Lucy Mbugua, the founder of Homecare Spiritual Fellowship in her sermon taught about ‘keeping the fire [of love] burning.’

uhuru at beth mugo anniversary

Mbugua hailed Beth’s commitment to her marriage and family, quoting the senator’s speech during one of her campaign stops in 1992.

“If you are deciding to give me your vote, decide quickly because it is almost six and I want to go home and cook for my husband,” Beth is said to have told a gathering at Uthiru area during her first campaign for Dagoretti seat in 1992.

Reminiscing on her marriage, the senator said her public life came second to her role as a wife and a mother.

“My public life has never kept me from being a wife and a mother. In fact, I know I’m a wife first, then a mother and them the public life,” she said.

Beth said only tolerance and communication has sustained their marriage.

“In all my married life, I have known that no conflict or disagreement is too big to be overcome by dialogue. Nick and I have always known that dialogue is the only way to solve things,” she told reporters after the service.

Having been married at 19, the former minister and Dagoreti MP recollected that both of them did not have money to afford a honeymoon, hence stayed at home after their wedding.

“In fact on the eve of the wedding, Nick was arrested because it was the times of a colonial State of Emergency. It took the intervention of my dad who was a D.O in Gatundu to have him released for the occasion,” she said.

The couple has four children and five grandchildren.

On what melted her heart for the first time, Beth said,

“He told me that loved me and that I’m the only girl that he ever loved.”

Her cancer foundation was at the heart of the celebration with guests told not to carry gifts but to donate towards the foundation.

The foundation conducts prostate, breast and cervical cancer screening for free.

As part of the celebrations, free screening camps were held on Saturday and Sunday at St. Andrews church in Nairobi.

Ikolomani Mp Bernard Shinali in road accident after sons burial

Ikolomani Mp Bernard Shinali and his family members survived a horrible road crash a day after burying his son.

His landcruiser collided with a matatu at the Mau Summit.

The body of his late son arrived in Nairobi recently and the burial conducted at his home in Lihrembe village on August 16. A harambee was held on August 13 at the MPs house to cater for burial costs.

Chris Masaka Adema, 35, a US Marine, died in Arizona State on July 26 while on holiday with his family. There are reports that he drowned while trying to save a child in a swimming pool.

The MP said prior to his son’s death, he had been given an assignment in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By the time of his demise he was on holiday for a week.

On 8th August,  Shinali has denied blocking the mother of his son who died in US from participating in funeral arrangements.

Shinali said claims by Petronilla Munyasa that she has been stopped from travelling to the US are misleading. He accused Manyasa of seeking attention.

“I have not seen her for the last 35 years. The child was brought to my home when he was in class eight and her family demanded for payment for keeping him which I paid in cash and started educating the boy,” he said.

Zuleikha Hassan kicked out of National Assembly after walking in with baby

The National Assembly was the scenes of chaos today after Kwale Woman Representative, Zuleikha Hassan, was thrown out for walking in with a baby.

Soon! Nyce Njeri excitedly reveals baby plans after nasty split from hubby

The presiding Speaker, Chris Omulele, ordered both her and her lactating 5-month-old baby to be kicked out of the house.

Omulele defended his actions saying that her action was against the standing orders of the house for any member to bring along a toddler. Zulekha for her part said that she had an emergency telling journalists;

I had an emergency, I have to come to work, we have two sessions today a morning and afternoon one. Parliament in 2013, the psc passed that we should have a room, a creche where we can breastfeed our child.

Her female colleagues backed her up, chanting ‘ a baby is not an atomic bomb’, going on to question why private space for breastfeeding parliamentarians hadn’t been created, despite PSC’s recommendation 6 years ago.

The Woman Rep stood her ground outside parliament, making it clear that it was the first time she had brought her child to the National Assembly.

The incident, which has sparked a debate, coincidentally happened during the world breastfeeding week, with some questioning the timing of the entire fiasco. Some comments from Kenyans are below;

Ken mutai SMH!!! We need to move away from this archaic mode of thinking,in some countries,Australia as a case example not only are mps allowed to carry their babies to parliament, they are allowed to breastfeed them as proceedings go on

Aduma Mutiva She should be given an award already. New question: Why is Parliament’s architecture so ignorant of the fact that its female occupants/users will be nursing mothers at one point or another?

Shilaa254 This public officers Ethics act has to be looked into….what is wrong in someone bringing a baby to work ???after all they sit all day in parliament 😂😂😂😂

nerd Parliament isn’t a place for babies..let her take her activism (if it was so) elsewhere.. that place can be rowdy, and if anything she’s endangering her child🙄🙄.spare us the drama

Njehu,HSC 🇰🇪 This is not Australia, our standing orders are different.
She should spare us the rhetorics and not report to work further more av never heard her contribute in the house. Smh!

‘They deserted him’ KOT slam Ken Okoth’s relatives over burial plans

The final resting place for the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, 41, is the subject of debate on social media.

Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26 at the Nairobi Hospital.

Four days ago we learned that he asked his family to switch off his life support and ‘let him go’.

Reasons Ken Okoth might have asked his family to cut him off life support

ken okoth back from paris

His fathers side of the family want him buried next to his father in Homa Bay. And this is where the dilemma checks in.

The family from Rangwe constituency wants the body buried at Kanyachir-Amoso village in Kochia, where his father was laid to rest.

A family spokesman said this is according to Luo traditions, however KOT beg to differ.

In sharp remarks made on social media, KOT want the late’s paternal side of the family to let it be. Read their reactions below:
jokim..
Luo culture is funny, you abadon a kid, the kid grows to be prominent, dies, the dads clan claims the bury him. Question, will you do the same to obama?

Stephen Otieno..
I hope the late MP had left a will. He should be laid to rest according to his wishes. Why admonish the late MP to a home he barely knew?

Meet Ken Okoth’s mum who sold paraffin and tomatoes to educate six kids

@obrancelaw..
Will this be a repeat of the famous battle of Nyalgunga (S.M Otieno’s Funeral)
Peharps the battle of Kochia?

Awiti Ochieng’..
And the case was decided on their favour. Did the father claim him when he was alive? And also there is a saying ‘loo oktamrega ng’ato’ Now the jungu wife be wondering about these traditions. NKT
Ole soeni..
Okoths’ relatives are only interested in disco matanga and inheriting the white widow. Where were they when okoth was struggling?
leone ahinga..
These ‘father’s side relatives’ are never there when widowers are left after their sons death but are always the first ones to give rules on burials n dowries, very lazy always

The last thing he did for his constituents was attend a music festival on July 7th with his peers.

‘I can’t be cured,’ Proof that Ken Okoth knew he was dying

He said

Our children have immeasurable talent; it’s a joy to give them a platform to showcase these talents on stage through song, dance, and poetry.

War On Cancer: List of prominent Kenyans who’ve died of Cancer

In a short time span, Kenya has lost two leaders – Kibra MP Ken Okoth and Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso – to cancer.

The two have joined a growing list of prominent Kenyans who have died of the disease that has no cure.

Some are also receiving treatment for various strains of the disease.

Over the seven weeks that Juja MP Francis Munyua was successfully treated for brain cancer in India early this year, he met 13 lawmakers also receiving chemotherapy for various cancers.

“So many people are suffering in silence from cancer. Nobody wants to talk about it because of the stigma,” Munyua said when he returned in March.

“In India, I met hundreds of cancer patients from Kenya alone. Among them were nine of my fellow MPs and four Senators,” he said.

Munyua was successfully treated, joining a small group of prominent Kenyans to go public about their cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Others were not lucky and went silently.

Since 2010, at least 10 prominent Kenyans have succumbed to various types of cancer, making it the main killer among leaders in that period.

1. One such prominent leader was Prof Wangari Maathai, who left quietly at night on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at the Nairobi Hospital Cancer Centre.

2. After Maathai’s death, former minister and MP for Kiambaa Njenga Karume followed. He died on Friday, February 24, 2012.

Karume’s death was caused by prostate cancer which had spread and had become impossible to manage.

3. Five years later, former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua was killed by pancreatic cancer at 64 years in February 2017.

4. Other well-known Kenyans include former TV presenter Janet Kanini who succumbed to lung cancer in March 2017 after a two-year battle.

5. Former Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze, 60, passed away in December 2017 after a 10-year battle with colon cancer.

6. In December the same year, Harvard professor Calestous Juma died after a two-year battle with cancer.

7. Former Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim, 49, also passed away in April last year after succumbing to acute colon cancer.

8. And while Kenyans were mourning these leaders, former Migori Senator Ben Oluoch, 55,  died in June last year after a protracted battle with throat cancer.

9. Former Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization chairperson Jane Kiano, 74, succumbed to lung cancer in October last year at the Nairobi Hospital.

10. Other Kenyans who succumbed to the disease are Jonathan Toroitich who succumbed to pancreatic cancer on April 20 this year at Nakuru War Memorial Hospital.

11. More recently was former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, 61, who died peacefully at home on July 1.

He had been treated of acute myeloma leukemia, cancer that does not form tumours.
