Throwback of Zari at 17 shows that she hasn’t aged a day (photo)

Zari Hassan is a mother of 5 but from her images online, one would be hard-pressed to guess that she is in her 40’s, as she has been able to maintain a svelte figure that puts many younger women to shame.

Zarinah who hails from Uganda now lives the high life in South Africa where her late ex-husband Ivan started a couple of businesses that she now manages.

And from there the mother of Diamond Platnumz’ two kids showcases an image of perfection for her 7.7 million Instagram fans, leaving most jealous and envious of the high life that she now lives.

But what many might not know is that she like most born in Sub-Saharan Africa came from humble beginnings and is one person who shows that one’s past shouldn’t limit them from greatness.

Yesterday, the light-skinned socialite decided to remind her fans and followers of how she looked when she was still a 17-year-old girl and damn, she looked like she hasn’t aged a day.

Diamond Platnumz goes all out proving he might be reuniting with Zari

The photos show a young girl who while cute still had the determined brow and ambition that has made her such an admired figure among many women and girls in Africa.

Her photos remind me of one of our very own celebrities here in Kenya-Julie Gichuru. The former TV anchor is in her mid-40’s and is a mother of 5 like Zari but still looks great for her age!

The two celebrities are firm reminder that women can still age gracefully even despite having many kids.

I don’t know how to cook-Happily married Julie Gichuru tells giddy Kenyans

Media personality Julie Gichuru is a happily married woman. The mother of 4 has been together with her husband Anthony for 22 years and funny thing is that they have thrived despite her being a poor cook.

Yep, you read that right! Julie revealed this information in a light-hearted confession on her Instagram page yesterday.

The 47-year-old disclosed that she wanted to make her husband dinner but her main issue was that she didn’t know how to.

“All set to ask bae what he wants for dinner ❤❤❤ The challenge is… sijui kupika 😳😭😄,” wrote Julie. This isn’t the first time that Julie has admitted to her challenges in the kitchen.

Fans reacted to her revelation with many telling sympathizing with her predicament:

Haki wallai sio lazima kupika!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😍😍😍😍😍

Represent us well well, especially sisi wa “utakula ama umekula huko unapitianga🙄”

Hujui kupika lakini wewe ndio uko😂😂🙌

😂😂😂😂😂 uongo unajua.

😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 make order chap chap!

😂😂😂how now…..all you need to cook is interest and YouTube 😍

Hata huitaji kupika… Ushaiva😍😍😍😍😍

Wewe ndio chakula leo. 😂Husipike hakuna haja.

Allaaaaaaaaarrrr😂😂😂😂😂😂, Julie nani ame.hack ur account😂😂

I guess he will just say, he wants you for dinner hehe.

She explained that the reason she is so poor in the culinary department is that during her teenage days she was disinterested in cooking and always wanted to read books and learn.

“As the only daughter in the family it was obvious and apparently a source of social embarrassment. Indeed, in an African – Asian home this was unheard of, girls should know their place and the kitchen was part of that. But I was adamant, I was disinterested in the art of cooking and had better things to do with my time. I wanted to read, I wanted to learn and grow. I was fascinated by the history of great nations. Modern history too captivated me. I just wanted to read and learn,” she said.

Why Julie Gichuru abandoned her dream to become a theatre actress

Media personality Julie Gichuru says that her dream was to become a theatre actress, scriptwriter and director.

In an Instagram post, Julie said that her career path did not look promising enough to secure her a comfortable future since the theatre industry in the 1980s had not developed enough.

“I could have done anything I wanted with my life. I would have become a theatre actress, scriptwriter and director. Not film, not TV, but it was not a viable path to a stable livelihood and independence – that was important to me, so I opted to study law, and went on to get an MBA.”

She acknowledged that the world has changed, and now young people have the opportunity to explore uncharted careers and encouraged them to be bold and courageous.

‘It is a different world now. Young people have many challenges but also have more opportunity to explore unchartered territory. So, explore. With courage and boldness explore the unseen and the unappreciated.

And perhaps for OGs like me… it’s never too late… 😜😄.’

Julie is one of the many media celebrities who landed in the media industry despite pursuing different courses in the university.

Actor Ken Ambani responded to her post saying;

I had a feeling you went through this theater🔥🔥 and true it wasn’t/isn’t viable path to a stable livelihood and independence… Only if the authorities would listen and restructure the relevant ministry and government departments to facilitate necessary policies for practitioners to enjoy and earn from the trade. It’s getting there but can be better.’

Julie Gichuru impresses fans with raunchy pic of her muscular husband

Media personality Julie Gichuru has one of the best marriages among celebrities in Kenya. The former journalist and her husband Anthony normally serve up as an inspiration for those looking to have a long term relationship.

They might have had 5 kids together but that hasn’t stopped them from looking excellent body wise for each other.  And unlike most women who are unlucky and can’t seem to have it all, Julie is blessed to have a number of things in the right place.

Her love life is one that most would say is a Valentine’s Day success story and Julie has not disappointed many as she posted an image of herself and her hubby enjoying themselves on the beach.

I will become a pastor! Willy Paul tells Julie Gichuru as he thirsts for her pretty daughter

Julie on Saturday, February 13, decided to give her fans a special treat by sharing a romantic photo of herself and bae looking all loved up.

Julie reminded her fans that her hubby had taken her to the Coast for their Valentine’s weekend. In the photo, Julie is seen rocking a pink and white beach wear and standing in front of her muscular hubby.

The veiny Anthony can be seen holding his wife’s tiny waist intimately. The post got a lot of support and attention from fans and fellow celebrities who camped on the comments section to pamper her with sweet words.

There were some who took issue with Julie’s pose as she was blocking those fans from seeing Anthony’s lean body especially his 6 pack abs.

The couple has been married since 2003 but met officially in 1999. The journalist had been hesitant to formalize their union after her parents divorced.

While they were in that stage of their relationship, they had their first two children, Kimoshe and Njeri.

I had suffered the greatest tragedy of my life – Julie Gichuru emotionally recounts

Uchungu wa mwana aujue ni mama. This Kiswahili saying literally means, The labour of childbirth is known only by the mother or another definition can be, Only a mother knows the sorrow of her own child.

Julie Gichuru is one woman who can say she has lived the above phrase in her own life. The celebrated TV journalist lost a child over a decade ago, an event that she has never forgotten (something that would affect most women, I am sure).

The pain has been ever-present for the mother of 5 who seems to have a picture-perfect life with her well-to-do husband Anthony Gichuru.

Julie revealed her sentimental thoughts on her Instagram page recently. In her post, she intimated that she had to soldier on with her new NTV job just after losing her third born son David.

The veteran journalist explained how the period had been a struggle for her with only God taking them through the situation, encouraging her fans to trust in Him.

“Back in the day… as part of the new team at NMG – we had just conceptualised and launched NTV, “she started off.

Julie Gichuru at NTV

At a personal level, I had suffered the greatest tragedy of my life, the loss of our thirdborn. We named him David, and like King David in the Bible, we had to find the courage to live on in faith. We pleaded with God to hold us tight through the agony. That faith was everything. He has never let us go.

When He holds you tight, even with a broken heart you can smile.

In these difficult times, hold on to faith, courage and grace, for it is through these that He holds us close.

Stay safe and well 🙏❤

Julie’s son, David passed on in 2005 after he choked while being fed by her house-help. He was rushed to the hospital immediately but didn’t make it.

“My house help was feeding the child, he got choked, rushed to the hospital, the doctors managed to resuscitate him, but later could not stand the amount of adrenaline injected in his body, the boy left us,” Julie once narrated.

‘These Jamuu boys were too much but I married one,’ Julie Gichuru on marrying a bad boy

Media personality Julie Gichuru has revealed that she married Jamhuri alumni despite growing up knowing them to be bad boys.

Julie is married to Tony Gichuru and together they have five children.

The two officially met in 1999 though their families had interacted for a while before then.

Julie was hesitant about formalizing their union because she had witnessed her parents divorce.

While in a relationship, the Gichuru’s had their first two children Kimoshe and Njeri.

After a while, Tony finally got Julie to change her mind, and they held their wedding on November 29th, 2003.

Tony is passionate about Science, Agriculture, entrepreneurship, and economic development. As such, he has made investments in these fields.

In a long post on Instagram, Julie reminisced her experience saying;

“Wow. How fascinating!
So, when I was in high school, many, many, many years ago 😄 we would panic when Jamu boys came through our all-girls convent school, Msongari. This was for several reasons: the first was that many of us had brothers and friends in St Mary’s, right next door.

Jamu boys coming through Msongari meant that there had been a rugby match. Often these matches with Jamu (in particular) left our brothers and friends battered and bruised. We were concerned.”

The second reason was their confidence – the bold and brash manner.

According to Julie, if a man feels pressured to spend beyond his means, he should seek a woman who is more understanding.

“To my sons, there is no need to feel pressure to deliver what is beyond your means or even simply imprudent or impactical. One rose and your time is more than enough and any woman worth her salt would get it. If you feel pressured to live beyond your means maybe you need to look for the woman who will be your friend, partner and equal. And to her “daughters”, Julie challenged them to spoil their men if they are able to(Julie you are a very very wise woman!)

“To my daughters, There is nothing more empowering than deciding to break the mold and take control. Get him a rose. Give him a gift. Take the drivers seat and spoil him if you can. A woman must know that she needs nothing from any external forces other than God. She must know that she can handle her business. She therefore needs no man but is able to choose her partner – her homie/lover/friend. That is powerful. Be that woman ♥️ Be different. Do it your way. No pressure. Hii mwaka haitaki makasiriko ☺😉♥️😘😘😘” she concluded.

Such a smart woman!

Read her heart-rending confession below;

1995 – 21 years old. 2nd year of LLB Law, in University in Cardiff Wales, UWCC.

I was in the throes of deep depression. My parents divorced, Dad remarried and Mum emigrated. I had no home to go back to. I didn’t have enough money to complete my degree. I was frightened and anxious. I lamented with God, I told Him I was so angry with Him, but I still loved Him and I asked Him to hold me tight and never let me go. I found two jobs at this point and studied hard. I didn’t know where I would end up but I knew knowledge would get me there. As long as I had breath in my body, I was going to get there. #Excelsior #NoLimits #AwesomeLord. Never doubt that you can get there.. Never stop moving forward.
