Judge Lesiit orders Jacque Maribe to be taken to Mathari Hospital for mental assessment

Jacque Maribe is to undergo a mental assessment at Mathari Hospital before she can take a plea over the murder of Monicah Kimani.

Maribe was first questioned over the murder after taking her fiancé Jowie to the hospital with a gunshot wound, without reporting the shooting incident to the police.

According to the police, Joseph Kuria Irungu, alias Joe Jowi, reported to Langata Police Station that he was shot by unknown people after he had dropped Maribe at Royal Park Estate.

A source privy to the investigation of the murder of Monica said that Jowie’s mobile phone was traced to Luciane Apartments, on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road, the house where Monicah ewas found dead in a bathtub.

Justice Jessie Lessit said it is paramount for Jacque to undergo a mental assessment before the case can proceed.

She also allowed Joseph Irungu /Jowie to be allowed to seek medical treatment for the wound on his hand.

“The second accused needs to undergo mental assessment  before she can take a plea, mental assessment needs time, it usually takes two weeks but I am giving you a shorter period so I expect you back on court on Monday, 15th October.”

She further adds

“The first accused will be remanded in Industrial area prison while the second accused should be taken to Langata womens prison.

The prison should see to it that the second accused is sent to Mathari for mental assessment.”
