“Am I Scared?” Janet Mbugua Opens Up After Quitting TV Job

This is one of the projects that she is currently working on after leaving her job but she also has taken up another role at Kenya Red Cross as the communications director.

The stunning stylista recently appeared on TV for the first time since leaving the renowned media house, to talk about her exit and why she took that decision.

“It had nothing to do with anyone. It was just about me. I’m trying to figure Janet out and spend time with family. It’s just a break. As boring as it may sound, it is just a transition,” revealed Janet Mbugua during an interview with Amina Abdi on K24.

The outspoken journalist also rubbished rumors that Jeff Koinange’s entrance and huge salary demands was the main reason she left, saying that she had already made the decision to leave even before he came to Citizen TV.

“That was just sad because the decision was made way before Jeff joined so it could not be true,” she reiterated.

Janet Mbugua also revealed something about her personality that many of us didn’t know. Apparently, the bubbly mother does not have a flare for drama and likes people who don’t come with it.

She attributed this to growing up in the Coast where people are laid back making her the kind of person who likes to lay low and prefers a drama-free and private life, which she says makes her come across as boring to some people.

“There’s something about growing up in the Coastal region, and the way I feel is that it’s more laidback. Sometimes people think you are naive and very wide-eyed but I’m like I don’t understand drama, I grew up by the beach with ‘madafu‘, and nice sunsets by the beach, that’s what I like, I like zen,” she revealed.

This has been long coming. Read This –> Jeff Koinange could be facing “administrative” measures after Miguna-Passaris rape comment on show

Jeff Koinange said, “About a week ago, we had a programme that deteriorated into something extremely ugly. Where two guests went at each others throats. It was out of control. There are people out there who thought I should have done a better job in controlling the guests. And I agree. Looking back, probably, hindsight is always 20-20 and in a live broadcast it is always difficult but I agree. I’m man enough, to man up to that and if there is anyone who was aggrieved by the show, anyone who felt it was not up to par, I did not do a good job, I apologise, so that we can move on. It was regrettable in most parts, but then again it was one show out of 300 shows we have done here at KTN for the last 3 years, 300 shows. It was regrettable.”

After the apology, Jeff Koinange them announced that it will be the last Jeff Koinange Live show on KTN.

“We will take a little break, but rest assured all of you watching tonight, Jeff Koinange Live will be back on another station in the coming weeks. Jeff Koinange Live is not going anywhere. It is just changing homes,” the TV host assured his fans.

The media houses that was housing the show also posted a statement on why they have dropped the show from it regular programming.

“We have taken note of the public reaction to the discussion that featured Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants, Miguna Miguna and Esther Passaris. Consequently, the management has launched an internal review of that particular episode, in accordance with our set procedures. In the meantime, we wish to assure all our viewers that as a media house, we will always strive to ensure that all our content upholds established ethical standards.”
