Media personality Janet Mbugua had her gallbladder removed after the birth of her second-born Mali.

On her Vlog, the former Citizen TV anchor said she was readmitted in hospital the same day she was discharged after giving birth.

“After being discharged from hospital, I started having some strange pains and I had to call my doctor who, after explaining, told me I needed to be re-admitted,” Janet said.

Janet Mbugua

“I started feeling fever that would come and go but the following day it was a whole big issue. I was itching over my whole body and my eyes turned yellow. I had jaundice which went over to the next day. At the same time, pain came around the upper part of my abdomen.

“The next day the pain was so bad that I couldn’t breathe and so the doctor said I needed to go for a magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) scan to basically figure out what was going on in my abdomen.

“I spent like 30 minutes and the doctor said he could see gallstones in my system. I thought those are for old people? He said that was the main reason I had the jaundice and the pain because my system was struggling to comprehend all that.”

“The doctors also realized that my gall bladder had issues and gave me two options to fix that.
At that particular time, that pain was the most that I have ever felt in my entire life. Remember no pain killer. My gallbladder was sick and it needed to decompressed and then the next procedure was to be removed.
I agreed because I did not want to come back again to the hospital. The whole process that lasted for two hour. I could hear people talking and I knew it was well so I was calm.”
Janet managed to go through and was up again. The whole time her family was with her including her husband Eddie.
“The doctors came back to assure me that the whole process was successful and the sick organ was decompressed and the gall bladder was successfully removed.
I was however advised to rest a lot as well as have the pressure sock on for two weeks and move around the house a little bit.”

I was hospitalized for two weeks and been on a recovery journey for one and a half weeks. It has been really tough, but I’m back getting healthier.

I needed a minute to get into routine with my newborn baby, and its faring on well.

I thank God for my life because people go through worse during child birth. Glad to be back, healthier and happy.”

Janet also opened up on being nostalgic on the fact that her first-born son Huru won’t be her only baby anymore.

There’s a part of me that’s getting nostalgic about the fact that Huru will no longer be an only child. Any second time parents feel me? I feel like it’s so bitter-sweet! .‘I identify with my womanhood before anything else because that’s what I deal with when I am alone’❤️

In her Vlog, a friend asked Janet if she had planned for the second pregnancy.
