Silas Jakakimba bows out of Homa Bay senate race

Homa Bay senate aspirant Silas Jakakimba has withdrawn from the February 12 by-election citing threats.

In a long statement posted on his Facebook page, Jakakimba said the “hard” decision was the best move in light of the intimidation.

“Even so, several things have since transpired including but not limited to direct security threats on the one hand, and on the other, though completely unrelated, the sudden demise of my brother, political confidant and close friend, Fidel Castro Odinga,” he said.

Jakakimba however did not rule out future participation in elections saying he will keep pursuing the interests of Homa Bay residents.

“Bado tuko Tayari to participate and engage in powering on development agenda of Homa Bay County and The Republic of Kenya (sic),” he said.

He urged the residents to vote for the most suitable candidate and called for peace and tolerance despite political differences.
